Ridin', Ropin', & Rascal Flatts

A couple of weeks ago we went to the rodeo with our good friends, Matt and Haley. Thanks to Matt's job we got free tickets and parking. Woohoo! (Have we told you guys how much we love you?) Because of bad traffic and some misdirection from the parking attendants, it took almost an hour to find the right parking lot. But we were still able to see a lot of good stuff at the end of the rodeo. Here are some pics from the night. chuckwagon race
this is just to show how big the stadium is (it seats about 70,000)
calf scramble
We also watched barrel racing and mutton busting, which is always one of my favorites to see.

And after the rodeo came Rascal Flatts! They're one of my favorite bands to listen to. Jacob even knows a few of their songs (thanks to me because he hates country music). It was so much fun, even though I could barely hear anymore when it was over. I spent most of the time taking pictures! :)

There was also a fair with carnival rides and a livestock show, but we didn't have time to see any of that. Hopefully we can go again next year and make the rodeo a yearly tradition!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We celebrated today by having our 2nd annual Irish food dinner. Remember last year? Since the green milk made Jacob sick last time, this year we went with green ginger ale instead. Here's a picture of what I made: corned beef, cabbage, red potatoes, onions, and carrots. Mmmm... It really is so easy to make, too! I need a good dessert for next year. Any ideas? Although, my girl scout thin mints were pretty good. :)
What traditions do you have for St. Patrick's Day?

Update

Thanks everyone for the sweet comments about our approval. It really means a lot to us! I truly feel like I have the best family and friends! And thank you Shaela for making the beautiful button over on the right side of our blog. Feel free to post it on your blog if you want, but no pressure. :)

I know it has been a while since I've posted last, so I thought I'd give a little update of what we have been doing lately. A few weeks ago some of our good friends gave us tickets to the Houston Rockets vs. Jazz game. We stayed until the third quarter. The game was pretty close the whole time, but the Jazz ended up winning by a few points. I had a good time, especially since it was my first pro basketball game!

Jacob only wishes he were this tall...

And here are a few pictures of our house that we're having built. They just started about two weeks ago. Here's some of the progress we've seen.

We drive over there all the time to see what else has been done. So exciting!
