Happy Snow Day

At this point, I'm not sure we'll ever have a snow day this year - but winter has only just begun I guess, January could have a whole lot of snow in store.

My creation today covers three challenges:
Hand Stamped Sentiments - is looking for a unique fold this week so I created an easel card, with the top part of the easel resting against a small pile of "snow" created with Dazzling Details.
Stampin' Royalty is challenging people to create a Winter or Christmas themed card.
SUO Challenges - is to create a Merry, Happy, and Everything Joyous card.

I added Dazzling Details to the tops of the letters to create the illusion of snow having fallen on them.  The Bear's toque is actually Sock Monkey's Santa Hat with the point removed; and I drew the snowy hills freehand.

Only one more day of school - and I must say - teaching until December 23 is NUTS - I can only imagine what the kids will be like tomorrow knowing the next day is Christmas Eve.  However, on a positive note - my two concerts went very well - as I knew they would in the end.

Here's hoping you are as ready as necessary for your holiday celebrations.  Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Let it snow...well, not yet!!!!!

I'm fine with the fallen leaves right now, and the crisp clear air - don't want the white stuff yet - but I do like snowflakes - and that's what the Friday Mashup is all about -
  1. Make a project featuring "Snowflakes".
  2. Or Make an "Easel Card".
  3. Or "Mash it Up" and create an "Easel Card featuring Snowflakes"

Easel cards are fun - and I do enjoy making them, now that the initial fear of them has subsided!  And as the quote on the Friday Mashup states - "A Snowflake is winter's butterfly".  I think that's wonderful!  So - I used the "Snow Much Fun" 'cause these snowmen are so cute - and I used the silver glimmer paper with the Northern Frost die.  I just HAD to add rhinestones to the centres of the snowflakes, and a mini jingle bell to the end of the snowman's hat!

Here are the next two pages in the anniversary book.....

Grant - our musically talented son - who drums in a band and creates wonderful piano pieces that  make me stop and listen

I'm looking forward to more  holidays together!

Hope your working into a wonderful weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Happiness is - Fridays!!!!

Anyone out there remember the Peanuts having lots of ideas of what Happiness is? I had whole little book about it I think. Wow - those were the days! Today - Happiness is butterflies, a half day Friday with golfing and refreshments....and a husband who understands me!! WoooHooo!!!

I'm starting to get a bit used to these easel cards - it wasn't a necessary part of this card, but I liked the idea using the scalloped circle die for the Big Shot. The sketch is from Just Add Ink. The 4 Crafty Chicks are looking for anniversary cards this week. And finally, the colours are from the Color Throwdown - Certainly Celery, Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie.

I've also added this card to a newly discovered challenge blog - Hand Stamped Sentiments - their challenge this week is to use paper piecing in your creation.

My daughter came into my craft room while I was working on this and loved the color combo - she has to make something for a friend of hers - so we'll see if the colors pop up again.

Well, gotta get to work - I'll be finding out today if my "creative" idea of having the entire school singing a song in canon at four sections around the gym is going to work. I'm pushing the limits for the little grade 1's and 2's - so we'll see. It may just be a "crazy" idea instead.

Ta ta for now - thanks for stopping by!

Today I'm sharing a card I created yesterday for Our Creative Corner's challenge to make an easel card. I haven't made one of these for a while - I really like them.....here is the tutorial from Splitcoast by Beate Johns.
