**

I didn't know that when we imposed a "no treats / no electronics till Friday" ban in our house it would mean that I wouldn't blog ... it just kind of happened.
And while I have sneakily taken a little peak at a few blogs over the last little while I haven't felt the need to post anything.

By having this ban in our house the kids have
Played more
Created more
Read more
Laughed more
Had more fights
And they have learnt to appreciate sitting down to watch a family movie
(I have also realised how often I would just say ... "oh alright just put the TV on and leave me alone for a few minutes to do .....")

Together we have written more stories
Done treasure hunts
Talked
Made cubbies
Snuggled under blankets
and Potions (do you remember making potions as a kid?)
And wandered to the park

I have had a spring clean
Bought new cushions to freshen up the house
Got myself some new threads (on a trip to Melbourne on my own - thanks Mum for having the girls!!)

Over the past couple of weeks we have gotten over yukky colds and coughs
and Celebrated my 11th Wedding Anniversary

So while this "no electronics (TV,computer, ipods etc...)" ban exists at my house it looks like I will be blogging less .... but that isn't such a bad thing at all.
And I know that it won't last, but hopefully we will find a better balance than we had before, cause in my house things had gotten a little out of control with the old TV!

So that is what we have been up to .... what about you?
What have you been up to?

x

PS ...that dress in the photo is one of the things I bought myself while in Melbourne (on Sale)
 - although on me its a top and not a dress, and I am so excited about it I will be smiling when I wear mine, not like the girl in this pic!

PPS ... Hubby read this and thinks that this post may come across a little bit preachie (is that how you spell it?) about how you shouldn't let your kids watch TV ... but that is SO not what I mean at all ... I just mean that in our house it had been out of control and I am trying to only allow it on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
I am not the preachie type x

Nup, not preaching at all... and if you were, you'd be preaching to the converted anyway. I couldn't agree more about the Tv thing. And you know, it is funny, for someone who has never really allowed any repetitive Tv watching in this house for the boys... a couple of months ago, it got out of control here too. It started with illness and cold days and it just being 'easier' to whack a movie on the DVD. Then I noticed the change in Angus. Cranky, snappy, lacking energy and enthusiasm. So I nipped it in the bud and only one episode of PlaySchool on weekdays... and maybe a movie on a Sat and Sun now.
Sounds like you've been doing some mighty wonderful things with your time Lizeylou. I HAVE missed you and your posts, but do appreciate how much better life is when you're not being dictated to by the online world. I am posting less myself. But can't seem to stop reading til the wee hours, hmmm.
Hot dress too by the way, gorgeous colour combo. But what's with the moose ears!? haha!

Wow, go you! I can't imagine no electronics in our house, I think the kids, my hubby and I would have a fit. Sounds like it was worth it for your family.

Might be a challenge to run my website without using a computer...maybe I could just try it for one day a week...ummm now you have me thinking about it!

Love it, it's how we all should be. Our television doesn't go on until the last child has finished homework, it's great. Especially when someone wants to watch something & they help out the still-homeworking-sibling.
I had a few days off blogging last week due to a cold, it was nice, i'm now full of interesting things to blog about, when i think while i was flat on my back, it would have been pointless, mindless, babble.
SO much can be overlooked when children focus on an iGadget of some sort & not talk, we're talkers!! Love Posie

Definitely not preachy at all, it can be hard to not let the screen be it the computer or the tv to creep into our lives more than we need it. I'm glad to hear that with the changes some great things have been happening in your place I know that I need to ban myself a lot more from the computer and find a better balance because I know I would achieve so much more. I do love the colours in that top, very pretty addition to your wardrobe and I can't imagine you frowning like that much you always sound nice and happy:) xx

Not at all preachy! There has been far too much telly around here too. I'm quite inspired, so many wonderful things you've been doing.
Congratulations on your 11th wedding anniversary and I love that dress! xx
