Give a little..get a little...

Wanna help Haiti? Wanna great quilt? Check out Jacquie's blog. She's 'auctioning' off 3 of her neighborhood quilts and matching the winning amount. You've got to see her work - it's fantastic!

This is what 170 hexagons look like. Hexagons of Hope is collecting 2" hexagons to be distributed to quilters displaced from their homes as a result of the brushfires in Australia. This project allowed m to use up some scraps and fabric that I was not sure what I was ever going to do with. In the process, I realized that I really need to stop and look at small sections of fabric (even fabric I thought I did not like) b/c when I do I actually find that I like the fabric. Did that make sense? Oddly enough, it makes sense to me.

The finished top sat (um, hung, actually) on my design wall for a month. I fought w/ my machine when it came to quilting the top. I tried a different binding technique and it did not go so well. Alas, it's finished, washed and nice and crinkly. This is the 4th doll quilt that I made for my friend's grand-daughter (1 for each of them). My own improved pattern made entirely of scraps.
