With it being Christmas Eve tomorrow, I figured I should blog about the fun things we did before it is actually Christmas.
The Saturday after my brother guys arrived in Utah, we went to watch BYU play at the U Men's Basketball. There were a bunch of people that went and it was a lot of fun. We met up before for some lunch and BYU killed the U. I actually fell asleep towards the end. I catch a few z's when I can.
I also downloaded an app on my phone that puts my pictures into frames. So I won't have to post as many pictures. Only thing is that I have to remember to do it before I download it to my computer. Geez. Anyways, as many of you know, Dane is a Ute fan. Since everyone going to game attended BYU, we were all wearing our BYU attire. Dane was torn and decided to wear his BYU hawaii shirt. It said BYU and it was in red. I think people were confused. Keilani looked so cute in her BYU shirt attire. I only got a picture of her cute face.
After the game we went to dinner at Five Guys and Fries and went up to SouthTowne Mall to do some shopping. I don't think we bought anything, but the kids did enjoy the train.
The following Monday we had Dane's work party at Noah's. This was the first year the christmas part was a FAMILY party. I hope it is the last. It was hard to enjoy it with so many kids running around. It was very chaotic. I hope they go back to the family party in the summer and keeping the christmas party for just the adults. Much more enjoyable. Nevertheless, the kids had fun dancing (they had a DJ on the roof), playing all the different games, and making a foam gingerbread house.
Three days later, the kids had their Christmas sing at school. Papa, Uncle Jo, Aunty Amanda, and all the kids came to watch. It made Bray and Ani so happy.
They put Ani on the second row and when they stood to start singing, I could barely see her. Man, she is so short! She did so good. Bray too. In the picture of Mika and Malakai, that is how they were watching a movie on the itouch. Malakai was lying on top of her to get a better view.
This past friday was our friend's annual ugly christmas sweater party. We always have a fun time. Interesting gifts this year would definitely be the toilet seat for old people (not sure what else to call it), the plethora of hospital undies (we brought some in our gift and got some to take home), and the revised calendars/pictures of people in our ward. Lets just say they are dreaming. Just teasing. The shake and weight was funny. They put the face of someone from the party on the body and wrote a testimonial for it. Clever. The spongebob undies came back this year too.
This past monday for FHE we met my family at BYU for some bowling. Mondays are only 1$ after 7pm. We just let the kids bowl and it did take awhile but they all loved it.
It is that time of year for yummy treats. Miss Kiele got a taste of chocolate for the very first time. She can thank her siblings for leaving it within reach. She was one happy baby when I found her.
On Wednesday we went to Burger Surpreme for dinner with the Fa'alafua's. They remodeled a little and it looks good. Aunty and Uncle definitely spoil our kids. They got the kids some great stuff
Bray got the Kreo Tranformer he was asking for and an angry bird shirt. He is lucky he got the Kreo because I never got around to finding it for him.
Ani got a princess case with lip gloss and a cute outfit
As you can see, Mika loved her minnie mouse backpack and outfit too.
Last night we had our Christmas Dinner with my family since we are leaving. My mom made shrimp and prime rib. Yummy. For dessert she had gourmet cupcakes. So good. Then we opened gifts. We had the kids open all their gifts except for a few we will be taking to Hawaii.
I love these two together. It's like they are having a conversation and Kiele is doing all the talking but Keilani is actually listening.
Opening the stockings
Malakai and Ani were so confused with Kiele's stocking. Since my dad calls her Alohi, he wrote it on her stocking. Malakai kept telling Ani it was hers because the name started with an A.
Grandma got everyone new church clothes
They got them games too
We got Malakai a cars fun set. He loves cars...
The kids got some sweet stuff. Dane and I scored too. Thank you mom, dad, Jordan, and Amanda.
Bray, Ani, and Mika slept over last night so I could spend the day packing and cleaning. They all came over one last time tonight to have dinner and say goodbye. We love our cousins and are so sad they moved away. It's just not the same without them.
Ani & Malakai kept telling each other how sad they were
I really meant to get a christmas card out this year since we failed last year. Well, it never happened. I will try harder next year. Dane's work sent us the picture of our kids with Santa from the Christmas party. So here is your christmas card everyone. Mele Kalikimaka from our family to yours.

Christmas Lists
A friend of mine told me about this cool video you can make of Santa talking to your child. It's called PNP- Portable North Pole. You fill out information of age, grade in school, interests, and upload pictures to site. You send it through email and your kids can watch a video and it is as if Santa is talking to them. He even says their name or in Ani's case he says 'my friend' because they didn't have the right pronunciation for her name. I was surprised they had Mika. Anyways, you can decide if they are on the good list or bad. I put Bray and Ani on the good list and Mika's name was on the bad list. He tells her not give up and that she still has time to get on the good list. It was pretty funny. The kids thought it was sooo cool. The only downside was (and luckily my kids never questioned it) that they don't have different versions. So he says the same thing and after three times I thought maybe Bray might start to wonder... He never did.
Last year was the first year Bray really got into making a list. I really wish I would have written it down or taken a picture. I just remember he asked for a lot of board games and puzzles. This year I told them to write five things they wanted Santa to consider for them. They love making the list and they rewrite it almost every day. Since Ani is getting pretty good at writing, she wrote her list instead of circling pictures in the ads like last year.
Ani's List:
1. lip gloss
2. hello kitty purse
3. markers
4. doll
5. nintendo ds (thanks to her good friend's own list :)
the girl loves to draw. when we went to see santa, she told him she wanted two things the mostest (ha)... markers and lip gloss.
Bray's List:
1. just dance wii game
2. watch
3. Kreo transformer
4. new ds game
5. rollerblades
after a week (and talking to friends) it started to get longer
6. full zip hoodie (those mesh hoodies)
7. xbox with kinect
8. dance revolution xbox game
9. ipad2
seriously, with this kid, his list started to get ridiculous. when he went up to santa, i listened very closely. i wasn't sure anymore what was his #1 gift. when i made the santa video i put that santa knew he wanted the just dance game. he told the santa at dane's work party that his #1 was the just dance game and if santa couldn't bring that, a watch was a close second. this kid loves to dance and thoroughly enjoys all the dance games.
which brings me to a post office thief. okay, so i don't really know if it is the post office but two weeks ago we were suppose to get a device from our new car insurance to put on our car. it said delivered but i never received it. figured it got lost and asked the car insurance to send out another one. well, i've done a lot of online shopping this year (for reasons i might share in another post) and we were suppose to receive three different boxes this week. all said they were delivered but we never got those boxes either. i'm so glad his just dance game shipped ups because it looks like his watch is gone. along with mika's minnie mouse phone and plate set and ani's hello kitty bag. to the thief...hope you enjoy my kids' gifts, punk.

2011
I can't believe how quickly this year is coming to an end. It is weird to think a year ago we were a family of five. Now we are a family of six. Time seems to go by faster and faster with each kid. I swear. I went with a bunch of friends to tour this incredible house last night. The owner is the mother of our neighbor. It was an amazing home. We watched The Help in their massive theatre room. Now THAT is the way to watch a movie. Plush leather recliners. So fun. I came home last night and snuggled with my kids. I loved kissing their clean, sleeping faces. They are so much cuter when they sleep. I love my life. I love my kids so much. I've decided to do a year-end kid update.
Brayden-
I canNOT believe this kid will be baptized next year. I know I am too hard on him sometimes because he is the oldest and I expect so much more from him, but he is the best seven-year-old around. He's smart, funny, outgoing, athletic, adventurous, and pretty much everything I am not. He is also very sensitive and caring.
Thirty minutes before school was done today, I got a phone call from the school nurse that bray had ran into someone and was bleeding. He had a cut on the corner of his eye and would probably need stitches. My wonderful neighbor turned around from Costco and drove to pick him up for me. She even offered to take him to the doctors. I have the best neighbors. I called our doctor's office and she said to put pressure on it and if it stopped bleeding I could probably just super glue the wound shut. The bleeding stopped, so I super glued it. I did a pretty good job, if I do say so myself. Dane and I got a sitter so we could get some christmas shopping done and while we were gone, Ani threw the "pumped up too much", rock-solid volleyball at his eye. I think it opened up the wound a little and now it is puffy, black, and blue. Life is so crazy with kids, I swear.
The thing I love best about Bray is that he always tries so hard at everything he does. I hope it's something that never changes.
Miss Tiani-
I use to say Ani was going to give me a run for my money. Meaning...she was going to make me work hard at being her mother. She would probably always do the opposite of what I tell her. She has grown and matured so much in the last year. She tells me all the time that I am her best friend and I always tell her to never forget that. I want us to always stay this close. We are so alike in so many ways, it is scary. She is so shy, but once you get her to open up, she is so funny. I call her giggles because she is constantly laughing with her brother. She has taken on the role of oldest sister and is so helpful to me. We rarely see her temper anymore but every once in awhile it comes through. She doesn't throw things at the wall anymore but she can still yell as loud as ever! She loves to learn, read, and draw. I wonder if she will become my artist.
Mika Chan-
I love that picture of her smiling. Even though Bray is doing that smile with his teeth on his bottom lip. Mika usually hates pictures and so this picture is a rare treat. Mika can still frustrate me to no end. She is at that age of being a very determined little girl. She can rarely be bribed. She does everything herself which means more work for me. For example...
I came home from volleyball one night and was walking to my room when I noticed toilet paper on the floor in the bathroom. Since I had cleaned the bathroom right before leaving, I was starting to curse those kids! I turned on the light to find poop smeared on the door, toilet, and all over the toilet paper on the floor. I noticed a poopy panty and walked to Mika's room. I turned on her light to find poop caked on her legs, hands, and sheets. I even found some on the door knob. Notice all that toilet paper on those pillows by her head? That has poop on them too. My guess is that daddy fell asleep before little chan chan and she decided to try and make it to the toilet herself. When she failed, she cleaned it up as best as she could and went back to bed. I have SO many stories of her trying to do things herself and the end result is about the same. A big stinky mess for me to clean up. Good thing she gives to best hugs and kisses.
i always joke with people that this child has made me want to learn the wrestling sleep move. Where you pinch a place on their neck and they knock out. It would make my life so much easier if I knew how to do that move. I can just imagine how wonderful it would be putting her in the carseat. She loves to run away and be chased. She thinks it's hilarious. Although she is naughty at times, she is always very quick to tell me she loves me. She's quickly learned that is the fastest way to get on my good side.
Baby Lele-
She wants to walk so bad. I think I need to do strengthening exercises on her legs. They are too skinny to hold up her, I think. She reminds me so much of Bray in looks and personality. She is getting her third tooth and she loves to bite. In a couple more days, she will be 10 months. She has totally stopped eating her solids. She hates it. She loves the bottle and I have given in to it more and more. She does not like to cuddle. She loves to smile, growl, and laugh. She loves to pinch my collarbone when she is eating. It hurts. She is easily startled and has everyone in this family wrapped around her little finger. Love that little girl.
This picture is from the day we got back from Washington. All of them sick, but so happy to be out of the car.
Mommy and baby from her 9 month appointment. Little runt, but a happy one.
Ani is definitely the poser in the family

Thanksgiving in Washington
It's about time I blogged about our trip to Seattle for Thanksgiving. It's already been a couple weeks and now my brother guys are here visiting for Christmas break. I wanted to document everything we did and so this is a really, really long post.
The friday before Thanksgiving we packed up our Sequoia and started the drive to visit my brother and his family in Kenmore, Washington. We had decided to make the drive in one night since the kids could sleep for most of the trip. The weather wasn't the best driving conditions but our plan was just to take it slow. From our house to about the Utah/Idaho border we had a ton of snow/slush. Once we reached Idaho it was nice and clear. Dane started driving first and we switched drivers in Twin Falls. We talked to my brother around 1:15 am and told him we were making good time and would see them in the morning. In Oregon the weather dropped to the teens and the roads were a little wet. My dad was driving at the time and a little before 2 am we hit some black ice. I think I was either playing a game or had just closed my eyes when I heard my dad yell, "oh no" and I looked up to see our car sliding perpendicular down the highway. All the kids were asleep prior to this and were now wide awake as my dad was yelling, "oh no" again and again. I remember bracing myself because I thought the car was going to flip and flip and just not stop. It was really scary. The car shifted off the road, down the embankment and into the ditch of cat tails which slowed us down. We barely missed two poles as we slid off the road and by some miracle came out of the ditch and back up the embankment back onto the road. My dad said he didn't even touch the wheel as our car was sliding. He figured it wouldn't help but once we were back on the road, he was concerned about the cars coming up behind us pretty quickly. Our tires kept slipping as he tried to accelerate but the car started to go forward slowly and the other cars went around us. We pulled over at the next town which was La Grande, OR. In Oregon you are not allowed to fill your own gas and the gas attendant noticed we had fuzz all over the car. He thought we hit a deer but it was actually the top of all the cat tails we plowed through. I don't think any of us really slept the rest of the trip. it was SO nerve-racking. When we hit the blues pass (I think) we were going about 25 miles. It was snowing so hard and it seemed like Pendleton (the next town) would never come. We left Utah friday night around 5:45 pm and arrived at my bro's place at 9:45 am Saturday morning. A whole 16 hours later and we were so happy to make it there safely. The kids kept saying it was because of daddy's great prayer before the start of our drive that nothing bad happened to us. We definitely said a prayer of thanks when we arrived.
some of the yucky weather we were driving through on our way to Washington
our wonderful car that kept us safe. the cracked windshield was the only thing to happen and maybe a few scratches. thank goodness.
When we arrived ashley had pancakes for us with magleby's syrup, bacon, fruit, and POG. She had all kinds of pancakes too. chocolate chip, banana, and pumpkin. It was so yummy. Jordan and Amanda watched all the well-rested children while the adults took a nap. When we woke up they had mac-and-cheese for lunch and we made plans to go to Westfield mall. It was our first experience on how very long it would take us each time to actually get out the door and into the cars. One of my favorite things about the mall was this Japanese crepe place. HOLY MOLY! It was really good. I chose the strawberries with custard and whip cream. It is probably a good thing we don't have one around here. It was SO good.
If I had known how much I would have to share with the kids, I would have bought my own!
For dinner we went to Saimin Says and we thought it was great. We ordered saimin and kalbi for the kids and ended up having to buy another saimin. It was delicious. Before heading back home we went to Uwajimaya to pick up some things. Bray broke our spam musibi maker and we needed a few other items we can't find in Utah.
love saimin!
The next day was sunny and we decided to make the most of it. We headed into Seattle for the duck tours. Everyone we ran into or met that heard we were visiting told us to do the duck tours and we could say we already did it. It is definitely not cheap with kids but totally worth it. I would recommend maybe doing it when when it is a little warmer. Even though the sun was partially out, it was still very cold. they take you over land and into the water. the kids really loved it. the guy had us singing and yelling things. it was a lot of fun.
my duck tour ride partner
sleepless in seattle house
pikes market. this was the only time we saw it. we never made it down there because it rained a lot the rest of the days. next time.
after the tour we went to a food court to eat some subway and drink some hot chocolate. it took me awhile to thaw. in the basement of this food court they had a children's museum. we didn't take the kids but let them watch other kids enviously. it's not that we are mean parents, we were taking them to the pacific science center at the next building over. we heard that if you go after 5 pm, you only pay 5 bucks. It was perfect amount of time for the kids.
watching the science demonstration
inside the science center they have a beautiful butterfly exhibit where it was nice a warm. we had to take off our jackets.
the kids had fun playing with all the different things in there. we had seven adults and seven children. it was easier to keep track of the kids with those odds.
flexible ash
We walked by the space needle but didn't go in...
We went back to Jo's and my parents made us sukiyaki. yum!
Monday morning we just cruised around the house. Bray fell more and more in love with my brother's xbox kinect. It is now on his christmas list. his favorite game was the Dance Central. We actually all had fun playing that game. For lunch we went to eat at Teddy's burger. It was our second time eating at a Teddy's. The first time was in Hawaii in August. Jo had class that afternoon but we decided to watch Breaking Dawn once he was out of class. My dad took the four oldest to see Happy Feet 2. My mom kept Kiele and Eli at home for naps and the rest of us including Keilani went to see Edward. I'm actually not a fan of the movies but have read the books. I think the movies are getting better. The first one was just ridiculous to me. They might be growing on me.
That night we had A LOT of chinese food. Ha ha. My brother got this sweet coupon deal. We had to order 200$ worth of food. It might have made it easier to reach that goal if they weren't out of the peking duck. That is usually more but in the end, we took home snapple and soda drinks and a lot of almond cookies. We felt like we were grocery shopping!
By Tuesday morning, Ani wasn't feeling so good. She had a fever for most of Monday and by Tuesday she was still feeling pretty crappy. I'm pretty sure she had croup which she blamed her friend Cohen for giving her. Ha... We were going to take a ferry somewhere but since the weather looked junky we went to a mall in Bellevue instead.
Once a child was ready we sent them down to wait
Jo had classes all day so we were down to 5 adults and 7 kids. We got some strange looks. I don't think it's normal for people to have so many kids. We had two double strollers, two babies in carriers, and a single stroller. Most of the time when we went into a store, we gave each child an iPhone/itouch/ipad to keep them entertained. i think someone actually came up to my dad to tell him he was in way over his head. Ha ha.
The kids were starving when we left the mall and we checked out yelp to find a place to eat. We found the Kona Kitchen. It is owned by the bad guy in the first Karate Kid. The food definitely hit the spot. Especially the dessert.
I ordered the sweet bread french toast. Delicious!
Dane had the fried rice loco moco. Oh My Goodness... We had saimin too. I think Saimin says has better Saimin. Looking back at these pictures, I can now see why I gained 6 lbs. that week.
That night I went with Ashley to Booty Barre. You do a lot of repetition with exercise either free standing or using a ballet bar. Squats, you name it, she does it. It was hard. It was the only exercise (besides dance central) I got that week. She tells you to pulse your leg a lot and my leg was shaking more than pulsing. Ouch!
Wednesday we did more cruising at home in the morning. I think Ani still had her croupy cough, Bray was starting in with the fevers, and Mika was starting to cough. For lunch we went to Whole Foods to eat lunch. It was packed. All those healthy seattle people. We did some thanksgiving food shopping and for dinner we met up with my cousin Kumu, his wife, Amy, and their son, Duke. We ate at a nice restaurant called Anthony's. It is right by the lake with a perfect view and we had our own room. It was perfect for all the kids. Seafood in Utah is not the best, so we definitely wanted some while we were there. I ordered the lobster and for dessert, Dane and I shared some chocolate deliciousness.
Our faces say it all...
Duke was a little sick too
baby loving her puffs
Mika did not want to be a part of the picture
even baby enjoyed Anthony's
Thanksgiving morning we took it easy and made our three dishes to bring to the Akana's. Ashley's family drove up the day before and her grandma invited us all over to their house for dinner. It was seriously so nice of them because we had a lot of people. Amanda made a yummy pumpkin cheesecake, my mom made the vegetable tray, and I made some potatoes to bring. They had a feast waiting for us.
Ashley made the turkey. It was beautiful. I was very impressed.
Keilani's first Thanksgiving
Kiele's too
I love this baby girl so much
E I... This boy can eat.
Aunty paree made these delicious rolls that I had about six, maybe seven. I really ate way too much. My idea was to stuff my face as quick as possible so my stomach couldn't tell me I was full. I think it worked because I ate an impressive amount. Bob Harper would be very disappointed. We did do some exercise after dinner. We had everyone play dance central, even the adults.
baby was tired and dane rocked her to sleep
our night ended early because Mika started to wheeze and cough so bad we had to take her home. Bummer. It was such a fun night. We've been having Thanksgiving with the Akana family for as long as I can remember. It was so nice to spend one with them in Seattle too.
Friday morning (our last full day) we cruised at home in the morning. Too many sick kids by then... I think that morning Kiele started to cough too.
After lunch we drove out to see Alki beach. Washington is such beautiful state. I can see why my brother them will never move back. Everywhere we drove, Dane and I kept saying how everything was so pretty. Especially with the leaves changing. It was gorgeous.
only bray came out of the car. the rest of the kids were sleeping.
they had this sign where we stopped, "parenting is work" and it most definitely is!
omi lomi
For dinner we went to a Korean restaurant. The side-dishes were okay, but the rest was pretty good.
After dinner we drove to Crossroads mall to watch Uncle Rylen play. I love things like this. Just listening to good local music. The kids did some dancing too.
they had a used bookstore at this mall. it was a great find. i love used bookstores.
baby loved the attention from the girls playing with her.
mika kept picking on eli as always... meanie.
we said goodbye to the Akana's since we were leaving the next morning and they were heading back Sunday. That night we stayed up late talking. I spent some time with miss Keilani. She is so lovable. Look at that cute face!
She has the look of, "Aunty, enough already."
The next morning we packed up our stuff and said our goodbyes. It wasn't a tearful goodbye because they were coming to Utah in a week and half. Since it's been that long to blog, they are here already and we are loving it. I will hopefully stay on top of blogging. End this year strong.
After our scary off-roading experience on the way there, we decided to stop that night in Boise on the way back. The place my mom was reserved was nice. The kids loved it because they slept on the pull-out couch and had their own flat screen tv to watch. We didn't bring our swimsuits since we didn't think we would be staying in a hotel (we thought we would drive straight through on the way back too). We had a late dinner at Cracker Barrel and got the kids to bed early. They were all coughing by then. It sounded like we were sleeping with a bunch of seals. The next morning we left after getting lunch at Jack-in-the-box and arrived back home around 5 pm.
the weather was a lot nicer on the way home
It was our longest driving trip and the kids did really well for the most part. I think next time we make that drive, it will have to be in the summer or spring time. No more driving that when there are chances of snow. This was definitely a fun-filled trip and we're so glad we went. Thanks Jo and Amanda for putting up with all the craziness!
The kids did some dancing too.
they had a used bookstore at this mall. it was a great find. i love used bookstores.
baby loved the attention from the girls playing with her.
mika kept picking on eli as always... meanie.
