Moms' Car-GO Box

Between school, soccer, church, moms group, and just plain ol' errands I spend alot of time in and out of the car. I am sure all you moms feel the same way;) Some days are just crazier than others and require us to be gone longer than planned which can turn into hungry, cranky kids(and mom for that matter).

**Here are a few things that I keep in the car for those little daily emergencies.**

  • Flat of water bottles (this comes in handy almost daily)
  • A dish pan to keep all my little things organized
  • Diapers
  • Wipes
  • Changing Pad
  • Notebook
  • Coloring Book
  • Crayons
  • Monster Trucks
  • A change of clothes for the toddler
  • Ziplock bag for icky clothes...because $#!% happens;) Ha!
  • Wet Ones for sticky fingers
  • Snack Crackers
  • Fiber One Bars
  • A Picnic Blanket
  • Trash Bags
  • First Aid Kit
  • Children's Pepto-this stuff is awesome!
It is so great when I am out and about and have everything I need all in one place. Do you do something like this? What kinds of things do you keep in your car for mini-mergencies?

I am linking up with some of these lovely blogs:

In my Library Bag...

I have lived here for five years and finally got myself a Library card!

Why did it take me so long?

I have an aversion to touching books that have potentially been touched by gross people.

A long time ago I was reading a book from the library and turned the page to find a HUGE booger which was smeared into the margins of the book.
**gag**
I am gagging just remembering it!

I seriously want to put on gloves to read used/library books now.
So if you ever see someone reading a book while wearing latex gloves
don't worry, it's just me! Perfectly normal, right?

Anyway, my lack of unlimited book funds have forced me to reconsider my freakness,
and now I am the proud owner of a library card.

Until I make myself a fancy "Just for the Library" bag, this is what I am using.

It is from my Gymnastics coaching days. Ah , memories!

Here are the books potentially covered with nastiness that I checked out:

Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross
This book has been added to my Book Wish List.
So many amazing patterns!

Um, yes please! This will one day be a part of my craft book collection.
This woman knows her stuff!

Yep, coaching soccer.
I never played so I am trying to learn everything that I can.
Hence the three books on the subject.

I also got two books for the kids and one novel for fun.

I grabbed a basket and put all my disgusting library books in it.
I named the basket "Quarantine".

When it comes time to return them I know where they are!

Am I the only one who freaks out over used books?

Challenge #9-Toy Organization

I have been loving all the organization challenges and am trying to get caught up.
Here is how I have my sons toys organized right now:

He loves to stand at the shelf and play with the toys and move them around.

I forgot to take a before picture because this was done over a couple days while painting. Just picture a bucket overflowing with toys that made it impossible for him to find the toy he wanted. Better late than never, no?

{Day 13} Medicine Cabinet

Okay, so I am way behind on the challenge and am catching up during nap times;) I am also doing them out of order, which if you know me at all, drives me crazy!!! *Deep breath*

Here is my 3 part medicine cabinet before:

#1

#2

#3
I took everything out, tossed what needed to go and separated the rest into categories: body, face, hair. Then I wiped off the shelves and put everything back.

#1
Hair products and perfume.

#2
Face stuff and deodorant.
The glass jars that hold my makeup brushes are upcycled candle jars.

#3
Husbands stuff.

I was so happy to get this done!
It felt so good that I did the bathroom drawers,
as well as the storage closet in the bathroom.

{Day 5} Under the sink

Here is the Before:
So cluttered and dirty!

I took everything out, wiped out the cupboard,
and sorted the cleaners that needed to stay.

 Here is the After:
I found a bin to put all my cleaners in to keep them corralled, placed all plastic bags into one bag(I plan to make a bag holder soon), and stacked the paper bags next to that.

Doesn't look like much of a difference, but it feels so good!

{Day 3} Tupperware Cupboard

I am behind on this challenge, but I had a sick baby for 5 days which threw off my cleaning groove. I am doing my best to catch up;)

I decided to switch my Tupperware cabinet with another one,
so I ended up doing two cabinets!

Plastics BEFORE:

This is the cabinet that held my Tupperware.

Glass BEFORE:
This one had my corning ware and mixing bowls.

I decided to switch them.

I pulled everything out of both cupboards, wiped them out, sorted all the pieces and
tossed all the pieces that had no buddy.

I corralled all the lids into black baskets that I picked up at the Dollar Tree.
Not the best quality baskets, but they do the trick;)

Glass AFTER:
Now I just need to put the childproof latch on this door
to keep all my glass safe and organized.

Plastic AFTER:
This one will not stay organized.
You can see that I could not even take an after photo without the boy
being all up in there pulling stuff out. ;)

This is my life and I love it.

Day 2 of the 21 Day Organizing Challenge

Challenge #2-Your computer desk top
I don’t have a computer desk, so I decided to do my scrapbooking desk instead. It needed a little attention since my love of sewing has taken over my free time;)

See what I mean? Poor neglected baby!

Look at that mess!

Look what I found amongst the chaos! It’s my label maker! Yippy!

Here she is all cleared off and washed clean.

This is my favorite photo that I have taken…ever.

This is what is inside that little blue bag. They are paper weights that my hubby got me from Red Envelope. “You rock” is my favorite:)
I reused storage containers that I already had, and here is the final result! YAY!

It makes me want to scrapbook:)

A clear literature holder keeps my newest scrap magazine in sight and in mind, post it tabs for marking favorites, sketch binder, and note cards.

These jars are by Making Memories. I love to be able to see all the little pretties.

These hold more embellishments and are actually votive holders that I purchased at Walmart.

See the pink glitter? Oh, I have plans for her!
So now all I want to do is sit at that desk.
Maybe I will be able to start scrapping again soon.

Day 1 of the 21 Day Organizing Challenge.

Challenge Completed! Whew!

Today's challenge was to clean out a junk drawer. I am terrified of junk drawers because things go in there and they multiply and make plans to take over the world. True story.

I chose to do 3 drawers because they were rather small and they were all in the same piece of furniture so it just felt wrong to grab just one.

Okay, so these were the drawers I instantly thought of when I read today's homework. I literally could not cram any more crap into them...believe me, I tried!

I dumped all three drawers out and then spread everything out.
I was shocked at the stuff I found in there:
17 Batteries
2 Light bulbs
1 Egg Dying Kit
23 Keys(most a mystery)
4 Hand Sanitizers
1 Pocket Tissues
3 Hair ties
1 Barrette
4 Guitar Picks
2 boxes of Snaps
1 Jeans Button
and so many other random things!

Do you see the date on this???
(Said like Chandler from FRIENDS)

#1. Christmas paper from LAST YEAR.
#2. Invitation to a school carnival from 2008. Yep, that's right. 2008.

Here are my neat and tidy drawers!

#1. Handheld Video Games and Chargers
#2. Flashlights, Binoculars(you never know when you will need these), hand sanitizers, tissues and lint roller.
#3. Phone manual, chargers and bowl of keys.

YAY! This feels so gooooooood!
Wanna play?

21 Day Organizing Challenge

Challenge Accepted!
(How I Met Your Mother reference)

This morning while going through my reader I came across this post by House of Hepworths about this great organizing idea that she highlighted by another blogger,
A Bowl Full of Lemons.

I popped over to check it out and fell instantly in love. She is so organized! Starting January 1st she is hosting an organization party to help all of us who are not so great at it. She will post an organizing challenge every day(excluding Sundays) for us to do and then asks that we blog about it.

I am so excited! I love when things are organized,
but I have a hard time getting there on my own.

Anyway, go check her out and let's start this new year off right.
