Black Friday Finds

new shoes 6 (2)

final zara new

I wasn't going to be any part of the craziness of Black Friday (except for the fact that I had to work)
and we had our first big sale ever on that day at Britex. I was chosen to hand out sale flyers in
Union Square. It was the first and last time I'll ever do anything like that again. It's very interesting
how people treat you when you walk up to them with a flyer, it's like you have leprosy or something!

Anyways, I really didn't need anything new for myself, but I couldn't resist walking by Zara on the
way home....they always have the cutest things for kids:)

Le Petite Posh

le petite posh

When our family relocated back to San Francisco in March 2011, we took a long break from doing
children's clothing to focus on doing private clients for women's wear, now we are finally in a place
where we can do both! So we are excited to be a part of SF's A-list voted "Best Children's Boutique" Le
Petite Posh's trunk sale this Wednesday, November 20th. Please come by and check out ours, as well
as three other SF-based children's designers wares. This beautiful boutique also hosts a special weekly
"story hour" every Tuesday from 2:30 to 3:30....stories and snacks for your little ones while you shop!

The Perfect Accessory

new shoes
Devon's definitely (already) a "shoe girl". We scored these adorable gladiators from Zara,
but really we need to be thinking about "back to school". I'm in love with these Frye boots.... frye boots
... the perfect accessory to all the new dresses I'll be making her in August:)

Shopping and Sunday

bobby 1
We didn't do too much Black Friday shopping, except some great deals on underwear, a couple cute sets of footie pjs, this really cute vintage piece, and a hamster. She named him "Bobby." Shown above is actually the orginal Bobby (who sadly ended up being extremly agressive) so meet Bobby #2 who's much, much tinier (so biting is not at all scarey but in fact, rather endearing... or at least to me)

She's very happy with him, so we've spent a great Sunday together playing with her new friend and shooting some new pieces for our Etsy. You can view them here and here:)

Sweet Mila

Here's a sweet and simple spotted dress I made (modeled by my friends daughter, Mila Lilith) She was a little shy, but so beautiful...I know that she and Devon will be great friends (only 10 more days until we are together again) This will be my last style available at Sweet William for this summer... meanwhile, I've been working at the most amazing fabric store, Britex. It's one of the best in the country (if not the entire world) and I'm constantly meeting customers who have flown in from all over the globe just to shop there. Being constantly surrounded by all this amazing fabric has been very inspiring and I cannot wait for everyone to see our Fall line....now that Devon will be four years old (and a little lady) I want to move the line's aesthetic from sweet to edgy.

Textured Denim Pieces

Been working on Spring stuff for Sweet William. I was looking for engineer stripes, but found this beautiful textured denim much more interesting (and it's crisp, but still has a really soft hand). So happy I still had enough left over to make some cute little trousers for Devon to wear (since suddenly she's growing out of all of her pants) Just wanted to say that I'm really sorry I haven't been on it lately with posting. Things seem all over the place and next week Devon starts school. Will she cry or will I?

Russian Doll

Just made a batch of these little holiday dresses for Sweet William, it's the last of my bulk orders for the year! I'm going to be shipping off all Etsy orders this Saturday and Monday (priority) so everything will be arriving in perfect time for Christmas. We shot this dress right before Devon left for her first professional photo shoot (down in San Diego) for Babiekins magazine. It was a vintage editorial, styled by my friend Heather who did an amazing job with everything...can't wait to see it! The new issue is out in early February:)

On Location

Lately, I've been trying to find different places to shoot new pieces on Devon. It's so easy to just throw them on her and shoot around the house, but I think we're both getting bored of that. Isaac reminded me of this great tiled wall, the perfect backdrop for our Candy Sprinkled Thermals. It's actually the facade of M&L Fabrics and I'm usually there at least twice a week (right now they're having a holiday sale so I'm stocking up) I found a great navy gabardine that I'm going to turn into a modish dress, to pair with this awesome little 60's vintage vest. I bought it for Devon 2 years ago and now it finally fits her. It's going to be her Christmas outfit... I'll make sure and post pics:)

I also wanted to get some impromptu shots (of Devon just doing her thing) in our 80's Sweater Dress, and she had been asking to get some new library books lately. We live right around the corner from the Euclid Branch, so we've been going there a lot (before that I hadn't been to the library in years) It's perfect for Devon, since I sometimes have a hard time guessing which books she'll love and which ones will just end up lonely on the shelf. Getting her first library card was a big moment for her, she's always got to wear it around her neck for the entire visit, and spends the majority of her time there on the computer playing Science games.

Second Hand Love Kids

All vintage loving mothers must go check out Lisa and Sunny's new Etsy shop, Second Hand Love Kids. Lisa has the best eye for finding beautiful and unique pieces, and Sunny is the most adorable model with the sweetest smile. One of the best things I've found about being on Esty, is having the opportunity to meet other people in the community that are not only amazing talents, but incredible mom's as well. I consider them both good friends, although we've never met face to face.

Here's something that made me smile: it always makes my day to see happy super cuties workin' our tops out with their own style, but when they also sport kiddie tattoo's...well how could you not smile? Have a happy day everyone!

Velveteen Jackets

I finally finished up ten of these jackets and shipped them off to Sweet William (the new store in Manhattan just opened a few days ago) I love how they turned out, but probably will never do production (at least all by myself) on lined jackets again. Just grading the pattern to five different sizes and cutting out all the facing's (not to mention there was fur EVERYWHERE) took me many, many, many, days. My hands may never be the same again, but enough whining...doesn't Devon look cute? She wanted to wear make-up for this shoot, so I gave her a little blush and mascara. She was feelin' it:)

Ragamuffin

Devon just got over a really weird 24 hour cold. She hardly ever gets sick, so I was sorta flippin' out a little during the night when she had a fever and super stuffy nose (mainly because she refused to drink ANYTHING and I was so worried about dehydration) Luckily, she was totally over it by morning (my tuff girl) I was even able to get her out of the house to shoot this batch of dresses (that I'm shipping off to Sweet William) next week. Finally, I'm using this vintage "Peter Rabbit" print (and in a way that the "slavery" scene is completely deleted, YAY!)

Always check your hearts

It pays to watch closely who "hearts" you on Etsy. That's how I found this awesome, baby and child's handmade screened tee shop, Tiny Whales. I snatched up this native American inspired tee for a mere $8.00...what a steal! UPDATE:
Tiny Whales is offering 15% off to my blog readers, YAY! Just contact Shaun prior to your order so that a custom listing can be posted for you:)
This girl kills me...
LOVE this top too, and you can get it on sale in another color combo here.
Original graphics, a great eye for color, beautiful photography and an adorable banner:)
