One definition of a vignette is:
any small endearing scene, view, picture, etc.
As someone who loves books and illustrations I've always taken a fancy to little illustrated vignettes. These latest pendants remind me of them. Lately I've been daydreaming, wishing I could live in the country. So here are my dreams sneaking in among the clay and paint in my beads:
Hope
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
-Emily Dickinson
April
The roofs are shining from the rain,
The sparrows twitter as they fly,
And with a windy April grace
The little clouds go by.
Yet the backyards are bare and brown
With only one unchanging tree--
I could not be so sure of Spring
Save that it sings in me.
