Creative Artiste November Challenge ~ #77 Anything Mixed Media Goes

 Hello Creative Friends

Time to welcome you all again to
our theme is ALWAYS *Anything Mixed Media Goes*

This month I share another of my quirky handmade pots
inspired again by Toni Burt and her amazing pottery skills.

Created using an empty glass pudding pot and metal lid destined
for the recycle bin. I moulded clay around the glass pot and lid.

Leaving space for a magnetic die brush to sit, decorated with rice paper,
making marks into the clay. Sadly during the drying process the clay split
leaving a large crack in the outer clay. Continuing to paint up with black
acrylic, dry brushing with antique silver and a protective varnish coating.

I chose to make a feature of that crack adding a fashioned paper buckle,
hardware to compliment the brads with its rice paper and colour combo.

I'm really pleased with this little pot,
it's proving very handy in my workspace.

If you have a love for mixed media and use more than
three mediums in your creations please come and share your
mixed media creations with the Creative Artiste team HERE..

Wishing you all a safe and creative month ahead.

holds a die cut and stamped portrait head wearing CELESTIA
pre cut hair all coloured using paint, copics and pencils.

Creative Artiste's Mixed Media Challenge #70

Hello Creative Friends,

It's the first Friday of a new month so time for me
our theme is always *Anything Mixed Media Goes*

This month i'm sharing a hand sculpted clay pot
I call her *My Year in Dungaree's* 😊

Behind the scene's i've been working with lots of clay this year.
Thought i'd share this piece inspired by Toni Burt. One piece of
air dry clay sculpted into shape it was important to make it's
shape as organic as I could to resemble my worn out dungaree's.

Adding stumpy feet to the base, mark making seams and creases
she was left to dry for days before sealing and painting.

The blues in this treasured napkin gifted to me by my friend Dorthe
really complimented it's design. Sealed again with matt gel medium
she was ready for some extra embellishing.

Lined with gilding flakes she wears TH hardware
and a fashioned Jeans button crafted from clay..

I'm not sure if this little video will work but
if it does it will give you a 360 view and show
areas hard to photograph like her saggy bottom 😂

Filled with treats she's a good craft table companion.

If you like to mix up you media why not share your creations
with the Creative Design Team HERE and join in with our

Look forward to seeing your Mixed Media Makes..

Stay safe & Creative

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #127 ~ Classic Blue Picture inspiration

Hello everyone

It's time for a new Paperbabe Stamps Challenge

This fortnight we give you a Picture for inspiration.
Use the Picture below as your prompt and let that
Pantone Classic Blue of 2020 inspire you.

Here's my Design Team creation and how it came to be.

Working with an unfinished journal page displaying a stamped
Dinky Female Face BLUE is one colour I could never be without
in my colour palette, I find it extremely calming.

Layers of blue lace add direction and simulate the flow of her hair.

Adding fibre paste through the Iso Fun Stencil. As Sapphire is
Septembers birthstone I picked out the ring in the prompt adding blue
glass beads and a dusting of Gold mica liberally amongst the blue.

A difficult shape to photograph I found it interesting that the Blue appears
much darker and her skin paler through the lens than they actually are...

so here's a close up of her beauty unleashed from the shadows
along side those brave words, completing my mixed media page.

There's a prize of up to £20 to spend in the Paperbabe Stamps Shop,
I do hope you can pop along HERE and join in with this months

Take care & Stay safe

Discover.. Flowers

Hello creative friends,

How are you..??

Sharing a journal page today which I started just before
Spring first sprung but never got round to completing..

No how to do's or explanations just close up's of those
Stamperia moulded pastes, stencils and rice papers..

Fuschia is not really my colour but I couldn't help paint those
moulded roses to match those upon the rice paper background.

I love how the perched bird comes to life when painted,
as if she's stopped to take in their sweet flowery aroma..

The stenciled word *Discover trimmed with buttons
and lace sits above hand painted white fluffy clouds.

a keyword as birdsong amplifies whilst air traffic takes a break.

We've all had more time to discover things of new and old
while keeping our family, friends and neighbours safe...

Wishing you all a a super weekend.
Take care everyone.

Paperbabe Challenge #99 ~ Picture Inspiration

Hello Creative Friends,

It's time for another Paperbabe Stamps Challenge...
Use the image/colours below to inspire you and come share
your creative flare with us over HERE. You have two weeks
to play with a prize for one lucky random org winner..

Inspired by the colours and shapes within the picture
I've combined both Dinky Male and Female Stamp sets
to create a calico patch for my fabric journal.

Here's what I did and how it came to be..

First stamping the female face and torso onto heavy calico I
secured the face mask template over the stamped image to protect it.
Then positioned partly over the mask I stamped the male image.

When the mylar mask is removed you can see it leaves a seamless
impression bringing the stamped female face into the forefront.

Painting the skin tone and features, I used the Pompadour hair style
from the Dinky Male Face Templates to draw in the hairline and torso.

The pompadour template 2: acts as a guide to help add all the detail.

For the female I used the pony & bun hair template but decided against
adding the ponytail as I liked the look of the hair all tied up loosely.

The Fun alphabet outline stamp set helps create the words,
painted with stripes in keeping with the picture inspiration.

Along with candy striped paper and patch sewn onto the page
I began adding a colour inspired selection of embellishments..

With it's sweet sugar colours there's plenty of white space
to add more texture and detail but I think for the moment
I'll leave my fabric journal page just the way it is..

There is plenty more to see over on the Challenge blog HERE
we look forward to seeing your take on this fortnights

Thank you so much for stopping by today.

Take care & stay safe.

October Tag: Carving Time.

Halloween it's a small step away but i'm sure many of you who celebrate will have Fancy dress party's this weekend if not already attended. Judging by the amount of fireworks around here I think my neighbours are all partied out now.

On that note i'm sharing my October Tag: Carving Time using those same prompts that
i've been bringing to you each month with the courtesy of Chris.

Here is my October Tag: Carving Time

Covering a Tando long tag in black gesso I painted over it with Burning Bonfire
IndigoBlu paint. When dry I dragged Yellow Meringue paint across the top.
Clear 3D gloss has been pushed through a tree stencil from imagination crafts.

Short threads from my scrap stash have been applied using matt medium.
A layer of Orange Shimmer paint was painted on top with Antique Gold
Multi Surface paint flicked on to the dry surface.

Using the same Tree stencil I applied Black Gesso through it and covered in a coating of clear Gesso. As you may be able to see because the Black Gesso was not quite dry and it smudged the tree's but I do think it adds a little atmosphere.

Birds from Rubber Dance were stamped with archival ink.

The sweet pumpkin image was sent to me by Pat (Thank You)
and perfect for this tag. Glued to the tag I added some doodles with a Posca pen
and enhanced the darker areas of the pumpkins with a black Biro pushing a little
harder than normal to created an impression.

Distress glitter and gems help to enhance the pumpkins with the Tim Holtz words
*Carving Time * adding a sinister twist to my finished Tag.

Colour coordinating Ribbon, cord and orange beads completes my October Tag..

Apologies for the last photograph as it doesn't do those wee pumpkins justice
but I seem to have mislaid my camera under the frenzy of my Christmas card making.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

Warm Hugs & Creativity

Paperbabe Butterfly Girl..

Well the picture inspiration over on Paperbabes Blog Challenge is simply delicious so I busied myself looking for fruity colours amongst my shamefully large paint collection.

Think these will do to start with...!!

The Paperbabe portrait substrates kit is full of different shaped elements that you layer up to build a painted portrait in 3D. Here is words and pictures is my Paperbabe Butterfly Girl.

I painted the face and neck using IndigoBlus Junk and Disorderly  portrait colour paints. I have to say I've been mixing my own skin tones for many many years now but the new indigoblu ones are fabulous!! The hair substrates have been given the Ombre effect.

The Paperbabe facial features have been stamped on roughly, they can be tidied up later when adding the fine details. The hairline has been painted on just to give me a guideline of where the hair piece will go.

In the kit you get substrates that resemble garments for both front and back which come in a V and round neck shape, it's your choice how you display them. I painted these panels with a mixture of zesty colours, stamped a spotty stamp from the paperbabe Whimiscal Woodland Owl set using memento inks, embossed them and edged them with lace trim.

The eyes have been tidied using Posca Markers and glitter added to those Luscious Lips.

Time to piece it all together with a touch of glue:

As she has so much hair I thought it was such a shame to leave it so flat looking. It was a great space to work on and add more elements so I found some mixed media Butterfly blanks in my crafty stash and painted them using some of those sort out colours.
I finally added a little wire and beads for extra detail to the more prominent ones.

This is the finished front...

and this is the back.

I chose to use the base on mine, following the colours used on the garment and have it free standing but the kit does come with the ability for you to hang this up, the hole to this one is hiding under the large Butterfly.

Thank you for visiting and taking the time to check out my Paperbabe Butterfly Girl.
Wishing you all a wonderful week, take care & stay safe.

Creative Hugs

1, 2, 3 ATC

WELL..!!  I can hear you all say "What's all this Mess?"
Grab yourself a cuppa and i'll tell you all about it..

Well this project all started with the words *Found* a Theme given for an ATC Swap I contribute to each month. I have so much stored away in pretty jars but the majority of it has little or no importance, just odds and ends hidden away with the hope of discovering that hidden gem each time I rummaged through it...

The Blog Challenge Theme for the next fortnight over at That's Crafty is *Anything Goes* and these little ATC's seemed to fit the bill nicely, showing that you really can create something from nothing..
I hope you can pop along and check out all those inspirational makes from the DT and maybe join in as there's a chance to win a £20 voucher to spend in the That's Crafty Store..

Here in words and pictures is my 1,2,3 ATC

Covering an MDF ATC in a layer of lace I Gesso'd over the top and added some of those
bits and bobs, sticking them down with lots and lots of heavy body gel.

I added micro beads into the exposed gel and then left them for 7 whole days.. yes 7!!
As the amount of gel used was so thick and I knew these would be travelling to a new destination I needed to make sure that the gel had cured properly and also that those items would stay where I had put them..!

..One week later.
All dry and stuck down firmly.. so time to play.
I coloured each ATC differently using neocolor pastels and covered with mat medium to protect any further movement of colour. These colours were my base coat on which I could build up with more colour.

Now this is my favourite bit, bringing out all the detail by using raw umber paint and coordinating coloured alcohol markers around each element. Creating depth, shade and highlighting those prominent areas with bronze, antique gold and antique silver shimmer paints to give the appearance of reflection of light with a dot and dab of white Posca Pen.

Each ATC is finally edged with a little gilding wax.. and my ATC's are complete..

You really do need something substantial to adhere so much onto as you do not want them to buckle or bend whilst on their travels. The MDF ATC's are fabulous surfaces to work on and I believe they have now found new homes.. hopefully well received.?

Thank you for sharing your time, I hope you have been inspired.
What ever you are up to this week I hope it's a crafty one.

Stay Safe.. Creative Hugs.. Tracey xx
