In the downtown area along the shore you'd find this sculpture of granite and bronze. Pelicans flying high. From the full view you see both birds, one perched on a barnacle covered pier while the other is preparing to dive for fish, ...but walk up closer to look, and you can see more. Look up...the pelicans. Skim down....fish ready for the taking from the sea. Walk around... and you see [tho hidden from view] you can find the artist at work behind the granite] carving the carving. A 'self portrait' if you will....Also the artist's name/year carved.
That is a cool sculpture! I wanted to tell you about the viburnum - there are a lot of different varieties. We have 3 bushes and only one blooms like the one I showed. So - who knows what yours will look like. I bet it will be pretty though!
ReplyDeleteWow Annie, that is such a cool sculpture. Have a great Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteAwesome sculpture.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great, imaginative sculture!
ReplyDeleteJanice.
cool sculpture and shots.
ReplyDeleteGreat subject. Really nice angles. Very nice photo set. Have a great WW.
ReplyDeleteWhat a novel sculpture. Teamed with your angles of shooting, makes a very interesting bit of culture. Well done Anni!
ReplyDeleteLove Granny
What a GREAT sculpture! And I loooooove that hidden artist! That is just too cute!
ReplyDeleteI love good sculptures - this is a good one, in my limited artistic savvy! We have so many here in our town, and I love the realistic ones, not the abstract ones. Who is the sculptor?
ReplyDeleteIt always amazes me the talent some people have!! That is such a beautiful sculpture and I really love the idea of the artist adding a "self portrait" to it! Have a wonderful day, my friend. xoxo
ReplyDeleteAnd great pictures!
ReplyDeleteDawn The artist is "Buddy" Tatum
ReplyDeleteThose area awesome sculptures - and beautiful shots, Annie! Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy WW! :)
What a wonderful photo for Outdoor Wednesday and talking yea or nay :-).
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. I love the sculpture.
ReplyDeleteIf I may (again :)), I want to pass an award to you - One Lovely Blog Award. It's up on my blog. Thanks.
wow i like this sculpture...good day
ReplyDeleteWay cool photos of the sculpture! I love these! :D
ReplyDeleteIs this in your hometown? Quite nice. I always enjoy the colors in granite, and this one doesn't disappoint. Are those palm trees across the street? I can remember as a kid traveling to California and being excited to see the palm trees and the orange trees. We have palms here now, not many on the streets, but specific places like the zoo, etc. They grow slowly here however. No orange trees though! LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, I like sculptures that I "understand." Very clever!
ReplyDeletewhat a spectacular carving!!!
ReplyDeleteYou make me want to come back over to Corpus, but this time have you as a tour guide. We missed so much in our 2 short trips!
ReplyDeleteAhhh! Corpus Christi TX, 800 miles due west of Naples FL, a swim through "shark-infested waters?'
ReplyDeleteYour blog is really worthy of a daily visit. Please stay, and KUTGW!
That's an old family acronym for: "Keep Up The Good Work!"
That's a very intriguing piece of sculpture. I love the fact that the artist featured himself working on it. Very clever.
ReplyDeleteHappy Outdoor Wednesday...
XO,
Sheila :-)

ReplyDeleteHi Anni, awesome pictures. Happy Outdoor Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteBarb
Excellent photos :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, and congratulations on your first DVD. I did so many makeovers I couldn't count them all. I kept thinking of how I could improve on the previous one. And then I would discover additional pictures I should have added or a song I should have used. And then I would discover I had another program on my computer that was a little different and I'd have to try that. On and on it goes. But what fun!
ReplyDeleteCharlotte
