Faye Wong and husband Li Yapeng spent a busy couple of days in Beijing dedicating a new children's hospital and raising money for their Smile Angel Foundation. The Sweet Angel Children's Hospital (嫣然天使儿童医院) is the first private not-for-profit hospital on the Mainland. It has a craniofacial center, 50 functional beds and four operating rooms and should be able to treat 600 children suffering from cleft lip. First there was a dedication and ribbon cutting for the hospital itself.
Li Yapeng in front of the Smile Angel Foundation logo for which some graphic artist should have a special place in designer heaven--it is a wonderful image.
Evening means a tuxedo suit replaces the orange polo shirt, blazer and slacks for Faye Wong. It looks as if she and Carina Lau decided to use the same color (black of course) and the same palette for their make-up which is striking on each of them.
There were plenty of friends and celebrities at the fundraising dinner that included ten separate boutique auctions, including Huang Yi and Na Ying.

Faye Wong from the past
WOW--according to Xinhua, an unnamed "friend" of Faye Wong dug up some publicity pictures from (maybe) 20 years ago at the start of her career. Thank you, friend.

Faye Wong concert in Kunming
If Faye Wong's fans were interested in opulent sets and over the top costumes that changed throughout the concert they got their money's worth and more at her recent concert in Kunming.
This chandelier inspired number couldn't be as heavy as it looks--not a very good picture with Faye Wong looking more than a bit grumpy or strained.

Faye Wong top female vocalist draw?
Yahoo China ran some numbers and concluded that the to earning female vocalist for 2011 was Faye Wong not Lady Gaga as reported by Forbes, where American and British singers are the only ones who count.

A bit more from the Faye Wong benefit for Smile Angel
As a founder and probably most active board member of the Smile Angel Foundation Faye Wong kept busy during their big benefit concert in Beijing. In addition to performing she worked the audience, posed for lots of pictures with patrons and did some bidding during the auction:
From her dour mien it is clear that she was working, making sure the invited guests (and donors) were having a good time.

Faye Wong in benefit concert for Smile Angel
Slender as a knife blade and hyper-elegant, Faye Wong gave a benefit concert for the fifth anniversary of the founding of the Smile Angel Foundation. She was backed by the Philharmonie der Nationen from Germany, an orchestra with a lot of blond fiddle players.
Cutting the fifth anniversary cake with husband Li Yapeng. She is wearing a Herve Leger bandage dress that looks great on her; she might have stepped straight from the runway. I don't think her arm is five feet long although from this unfortunate angle it looks like she could slice into the cake from across the room.
Sometimes if you are going to perform you need to sacrifice fashion to practicality, in this case keeping warm: As many are aware, the Smile Angel Foundation was set up by Faye Wong and Li Yapeng to help Chinese children who had been born with a cleft lip or cleft palette. Li Yan, their daughter, was born with a cleft; they took her to the United States for treatment.

Faye Wong, Brigitte Lin, Tony and Carina at "Karmapa nine hundred anniversary celebration"
Faye Wong sang "Heart Sutra" and "Chu Zhang" at the Hong Kong celebration of one of the most important events on the Buddhist calendar--the birth of the first Karmapa, Dusum Khyenpa. He was initial Tibetan reincarnated spiritual leader (1110-1193) and started the unique tradition of reincarnation in Tibetan Buddhism. Brigitte Lin along with lovebirds Tony Leung and Carina Lau were in the crowd. Buddhists in Hong Kong really know the right way to dress an altar.

Faye Wong knocks it out of the park in THAT dress
Stella McCartney's cut-out dress with lots of sheer material with some strategically placed polka dots is a very hot number right now, especially since Kate Winslet gave it some good old Hollywood days "oomph".
Three versions (all different from the one above) on the runway
Faye looked great in a relatively more revealing style on the cover of the October "Harpers Bazaar".

Faye Wong causes civil unrest at boutique opening in Taiwan
Faye Wong was in Taiwan the other at an upscale mall where she fronted for Celine. According to news coverage, was only there for 10 minutes due to the uproar her appearance caused. The unidentified guy escorting her wasn't much help. He is shown being ignored in the picture above while fans and the press mob Faye Wong although she does have what may be a couple of tough bodyguards to her left in the same photo.
Never trust a fashion guy who can't get a suit jacket that fits.
