Looking Good

Although some might disagree, I believe that picking out outfits for a bridal party is an incredably artistic endevore.
Bridesmaids: Yellow dresses, yellow and red necklaces, and red shoes.
Groomsmen: Black tuxes & red vests
Ringbearer: Black pants, white shirt, yellow tie
Groom: Black tux & yellow vest
Bride: White dress, yellow and silver necklace, & yellow ribbon

Staging

Rolling in second after invitations, staging proved to be extremely stressful.  It was a group project at its worst.  Yvonne was however the master mind behind getting this to work.
Here are just a few pictures of this incredible feat.

Wedding Tables

Flowers were retrieved from three places. My mother's garden, a field behind a football field, and Sam's Club. Flowers were delivered from Sam's Club the morning before the wedding and immediately placed in 5 gallon buckets. The other flowers were hand picked and also immediately placed in buckets. it looked like a flower shop.

Flowers were also gathered to place in clear glass vases for the tables.  The asortment of vases with a bowl filled with lemons were labled with numbers on posted notes.

The groomsmen put all of the muslin tablecloths on the tables as well as the runners.

The runners were hand-me-down bridal runway material that was cut into strips for banquet tables.

A skirt was placed around the head table made out of the same material that was used for the table runners

And so concludes my wedding table post

Wedding Decor

While this is not a wedding blog, I do believe that almost everything regarding my wedding was a major homemade project.  Here are a couple of ingenious projects that are small but made up a grand big picture.

The first is the guest book.  Mark Mclaughlin found the idea in a magazine.  I stamped the idea with my approval, and Jim & Alicia Vallarta gave the idea life.

Another project was pictures on a string.  It was an alternative to a slide show.  My pictures aren't very clear, so keep in mind that the display didn't look nearly as taky in person.  There was a groom series, a bride series, and a series of the pictures with the bride and groom together.

Lisa helped me with this project.  We tore my old yellow curtains into strips of three.  Then we took sage from my mom's garden and staple gunned and duck taped them to the railing

Backdrop

While this is not a wedding blog, I do believe that almost everything regarding my wedding was a major homemade project.

I had an outdoor wedding in a backyard, and the last thing I was going to do was get married under a wedding arch.  found the following pictures from a couple of blogs. Unfortunately, I didn't save the web address, so I feel like I am plagiarizing. Nevertheless, this is how I came up with my backdrop idea.

Once again I put my family to work. I went shopping with my Mom and sister for material .
The material was the most expensive purchase. However the actual structure ended up being only $10 for the cost of the PVC pipe. My Dad being as ingenious as myself used barbell plates as a foundation. I used tool to wrap around the base so this would not be noticeable.

Tool was also used to wrap around the posts. The strips of cloth were straight pinned around the pvc pipe.  Using the structure that was already in place and a part of the house worked out nicely. The white sheet like material and the yellow sheer gave a light and airy look.

Cookbook Shower

Yvonne & Alicia gave me a delightful wedding shower. Everyone brought their favorite recipe, a picture of one of us, and obviously a gift for Jimmy & I. Everyone put their recipes on index cards and designed them with scrapbook paper, stamps, and cutouts. It was great fun.

Tea Shower

Amazing!

Tea Tables

My mother had been planning this bridal shower at least 3 years before my engagement. She said one of her three daughters would desire a tea themed shower. Due to my Mom's vast array of teacups & saucers, I obliged.

Each table had a teapot with hot tea. Later we rinsed them out and filled them with ice water which was refreshing.

The tea part actually had courses. This fruit platter on a dinner plate was with a fruit dip filled teacup was the appetizer along with scones.

This table cloth combination was actually reused at my wedding as the cake table cloth.

The centerpiece of each table was a teapot filled with a potted plant.

The lace on this table was later used to cover the gift table at my wedding.

This was one of my favorite tables. There was a little butter dish beside every place setting.

The tablecloths were put together using random pieces of scrap material. The napkins were carefully selected out of scrap material to fit the theme/color of each table.

Everyone was allowed to pick out their own teacup and saucer and take it home with them as a favor.
My mom collected all of the dishes for really cheap prices at garage sales & thrift stores, gifts, borrowing, from friends, and her own collection.

Mommy, Suzette, and others worked very hard to make this Tea Bridal Shower for myself a success, and I told my mom in her thank you note, "I couldn't have done better myself".
