Better Quickly

I seem to have a lot of people around me who are sick, not feeling well or have had surgery. I myself haven't been feeling well for about 10 days so I thought I would make myself a get well card.....just kidding! I decided one of my family and friends who aren't feeling well needed a card featuring Sick Bird from High Hopes Rubber Stamps.

After stamping and colouring with Copic markers, I hand fussy cut the stamp leaving a thin white line. The patterned paper I used is from Elizabeth Craft Designs as I wanted a soft yellow - to me yellow is comforting when you aren't feeling well. I cut the paper to fit my 5" x 5" base and to fit the design I had in mind. The sentiment was stamped and glued down on some matching card stock and added to the card. I added some flowers from my stash, some ribbon and a bow and glitter dots to finish off my card.

High Temperature

Gnome Mania has taken over the High Hopes blog and website and if you love gnomes there is sure to be something in this new release for you!

They are doing some fun things like colouring, fishing, sewing, knitting and so much more! Be sure to check out the full release (here)! The one gnome who may not be feeling up to joining the release party is "High Temp" who is under the weather and is joining the party from bed under his favourite blanket. Hopefully he feels better soon!

I stamped this cutie with Tuxedo black Memento ink and coloured him with Copic markers. I hand fussy cut him and added black marker around the edge to get any white I had missed. Patterned paper from two different Honey Bee Stamps paper pads helped me create the bedroom where our sickie is resting. I created a window by cutting the paper with a square die and using the same die, I cut a piece of grey card stock to fit the outside edge of the die and ran it through my die cut machine to create a window frame.
To create my curtains I traced the inside of the die lightly on card stock, measured it to find the centre point and then drew an "R". I cut one side out, flipped it over, traced it and cut out the second one. I added some twine to make it look like they are tied back. Again, using the same square die I found a piece of snowy sky paper and cut a piece out to fit in the window.
To create the floor I cut a piece of wood paper and added a strip of grey card stock to act as a baseboard. I stamped and mounted the sentiment on matching card stock and added the stamped image with foam pop dots. Enamel dots finish off my card.

Gopher Nurse

I don't know about you but when I am not feeling well I have a favourite blanket I like to snuggle in under and although I drink coffee I set it aside for a cup of tea. The blanket is one my mom made for me and I think it is the extra love in the stitches that always helps me feel better.

I tried to get the feeling of being wrapped in a blanket with the patterned paper on my card and the oh so adorable "Gopher Tea Nurse" from High Hopes Rubber Stamps and her tea cup reminded me of the tea. This stamp (along with some of her other adorable friends - you can see them here) has been brought out the High Hopes Retirement Vault to help bring smiles and get well wishes.

After stamping and colouring the stamp with Copic markers I hand fussy cut her. I decided on the 4"x5" card base and chose some flowered patterned paper from Kaisercraft that reminded me of the quilts we used to wrap ourselves in when we sick as kids. The card design is based loosely on some cards I saw a long time ago when I was googling sketches that stuck with me.

I cut the paper and then used a scalloped edger die to create the "blanket" edges.  They are over lapped slightly under the stamp. Next I added a piece of water color paper from MFT behind it. Using a circle die I cut a circle and added some stitches to it with a stitch die and cut a matching piece of the flowered paper for the inside. Next I glued down the stamped image and added some ribbon to finish off my card.

The Doctor Is In

It's cold and flu season where I live and I can't have enough get well soon cards in my stash at this time of year.  Dr. Allun is here and ready to help cure all that ails you with his favourite cold and flu prescription.
Thankfully at this point I have missed out on having anything more then a few sniffles here and there but if I do come down with something I will be sure to call Dr. Allun!

After colouring the adorable Dr. Allun with alcohol markers I cut him out using a stitched tag die along with a matching card stock tag and added the sentiment. The tag is popped up with foam pop dots to add some dimension. I thought some paper with tea cups on it was perfect for my card theme and cut it to fit the 51/2 x 51/2" base. Next I sat down at my computer and put together the "prescription", printed it and cut it out with a stitched rectangle die. A fun tea/coffee cup with some hearts coming out of it, twine and gumdrops finish off my card.

Feeling Froggy?

When we were little and had a cold or sore throat we often had the raspy or really low radio announcer voice along with it. My Dad used to love asking us if we "have a frog in our throat?". This stamp reminds me of that saying so I giggle every time I see it.....just like I did every time he asked me that question.
These frogs are much cuter then the ones I pictured in my throat as a kid!

I chose to keep the green theme going for my card because often when we aren't feeling well we are "feeling a little green". After colouring this fun pair with alcohol markers, I hand fussy cut them and set them aside.
Next I grabbed some blue ink, a cloud die cut and a dauber and after cutting my piece of white card stock to fit my design, I created my sky background. I cut some reeds, added them to the background and added my stamp.
I used some matching patterned paper and a get well soon stamp on the inside of my card just for fun. Some ribbon and gumdrops finish off my card.
