You're So Sweet....

Hey there!!   Another week has rolled around and this week it is Thanksgiving here in the US.   And this week also brings my oldest child's birthday.   He is going to be 13 on Wednesday the 23rd!!  It just blows my mind that I have a teenager!  It just seems like yesterday he was starting kindergarten...

Anywhoo... my card is for a couple of challenges:  Paper Players to make a CAS card using white, dark blue and silver and Waltzingmouse (a sketch).    I must admit that when I saw the Paper Players challenge to use silver I was on the fence a bit as to whether I would play along or not.  I don't generally use metallics in my paper crafting because I just don't like how my projects turn out when I have used them.  But because I like to participate in the Paper Players challenges as often as I can I decided to give it a go.  I used the WMS set Dainty Doilies (large), stamping the largest doily using Night of Navy ink and then diecutting it with the largest die in the Spellbinders Large Scallope Circle dies set.  One of the small doilies was stamped in the center using VersaMark ink, silver embossing powder applied and heat set.   The sentiment from Dainty Doilies was also embossed using silver embossing powder.  It was then die cut using a Spellbinders Grommet Tag die.   Some Night of Navy grograin ribbon, white & blue bakers twine and silver glitter brads were used to create my favorite little ribbon treatment.

A Memory Box Thank You

A card for two challenges today:  Paper Players and Stampin Sisters In Christ.  The Stampin' Sister in Christ challenge is to use something new on your project whether it is new products, technique, etc.   The Paper Players challenge is to make a thank you card.   So... for my card I used some brand new Memory Box products that I bought on Saturday.  Memory Box has some beautiful paper packs and recently came out with a new pack called "Valise".    When I saw that Memory Box had printed the patterns on kraft paper I knew I had to get a pack.  So on Saturday morning I made a trip to Impress Rubber Stamps and picked up the Valise papers and a set of new Memory Box dies called "Bakery Labels".  I used both for my card.

Now over at SSIC, Linda (Lovely Linda) provided the most wonderful devotional based on John 13:34-35 and the new commandment.  I loved her explanation that by keeping the new commandment that we love one another the way Jesus loved us that we are not putting away the ten commandments, but gaining a new tool to help us keep the ten commandments!   Thus, the challenge to use new products, techniques, etc on your card.  Making my card a "thank you" card just seemed a good fit.

One of the neat things I discovered about the Valise collection are the sheets of various tags that come in the pack.  I cut one out and stamped the Memory Box Butterfly Collage stamp on it using SU! Baja Breeze.  A second butterfly was stamped, trimmed out and then covered with Diamond Stickles.  Once it was dry it was attached to the first butterfly.  I used the bakery labels die to cut out a label and then stamped "thank you" on it using Baja Breeze.  I feel like the card is missing something, but overall I'm happy with it.

Thanks for taking a peek...

Thinkin' Pink...

As a mom to boys, there isn't much pink or girly in my house.  In fact my house is full of cars, airplanes, trains and Legos!  So when I saw the new Paper Play challenge to make your project pink I seriously jumped at the chance!
There Is No One

For my card I used the Hero Arts Big Flower stamp.   I had an idea to use the stamp in a different way, but after doing a coule of test runs with my idea I knew it wouldn't work.  The card layout is based on a Clean & Simple sketch.  I stamped the flower using SU! Melon Mambo ink and then colored the center with SU! Pretty In Pink ink.  The piece was matted with Melon Mambo cardstock and hot pink rhinestones were added to the card to finish it off.  The sentiment from the PTI set Year of Flowers Larkspurs was stamped in Pretty in Pink.

Thanks for taking a peek... have a wonderful day!

Paper Play Challenge....

The current Paper Play (week 29) challenge is to use blue and cream plus one other color.  The current CAS challenge at Splitcoaststampers is to make a card based off the Dr. Seuss book, One Fish, Two Fish... I don't have any fish stamps, so I went with the 2nd half of that line which is red fish, blue fish and used those colors plus cream for my card.... thus fitting perfectly into both CAS77 and Paper Play's challenge.

I used the Stampin Up! sets Echos of Kindness and Small Sayings for the card, as well as some yummy extra wide red and cream striped ribbon... i love that stuff!  And since Stampin Up! has decided to keep offering it in more colors, I'm going to be happily buying it for a long time!  Echos of Kindness is a beautiful set that I don't use enough (like most of my stamps.... could it be I have too many??? naugh!!)

Thanks for taking a peek!  Have a lovely day.....
