oh... hello friend

Hey!  Over the weekend I made a card using the new dies I got from Stampin Up!  I must admit that I was a little dismayed with some of the dies in the set.  When I used the large die that you seen behind the flowers I saw that it just cuts out the little diamond bits as you see can see in this card I made and posted a few days ago.  A few days later I realized that I could actually trim the piece out to create a different look.  So for several days I had this piece floating around and over the weekend I decided to make something with it.  I had some cardstock left over from making the card I mentioned above so I used that to make the flowers with two other dies from the set.   There was another die that puzzled me, as well.  It is the little leafy one that you see embossed into the cardstock.  When I went to use it I thought it would die cut this cute little leafy bit, but when I was done saw that it only embosses!  Initially I was disappointed, but then I used it to make my card and now I actually think it is kind of clever.  Anyway, here is my card.  The sentiment is from the stamp set that coordinates with the dies and was embossed on vellum.  I'm going to post it to CAS(E) this Sketch since the layout is based on their sketch, as well as CAS on Sunday.  This is pretty clean and simple and it does have flowers on it.

 Have a wonderful day!

spooky...

Hello!!  As our crazy fall weather continues Lisa and I are weathering the storm (ha ha!!) by playing along with CASology.   This week the cue word is spooky and initially I didn't think I would be able to make anything because to be honest Halloween is not big at our house and so I don't have many Halloween themed stamp sets, but then I remembered my PTI Spooky Sweets set... perfect for the challenge!!  I recently purchased some spider web doilies and I used one as a stencil to create my spider web.  I taped the doily down and then pounced on the gray ink.  Once that was done I stamped the spooky sentiment and added some googlie eyes.  A little spider was stamped in the center of the web.  Conveniently there is a rather large spider living right outside one of our kitchen windows so I was able to make sure I had my spider correctly oriented on the web!  I added some glitter to the spider's body for an extra bit of fun.  Since this has a spider on it I'm going to add it to the new Less is More challenge to use an insect or spider.  The new challenge at CAS on Sunday is Halloween so I will add my card to that challenge as well.

Hope you have a wonderful day and make sure you check out what Lisa created.  I'm sure it is clever and spooky!!

happy birthday wishes...

Hello!!  After being mojo-less for the last week or so I seem to have gotten a little bit of it back after I made the card I posted the other day (you can scroll down or click here to see it).  I had wanted to make a card for the current Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge of  "its hip to be square" and so I combined it with the current CAS on Sunday challenge of balloons to create my card.  I recently purchased a My Mind's Eye Hooray bundle from Peachy Cheap that included a package of fun die cuts including several balloons and so I used one for my card.  The scalloped and plain squares were die cut from some of the paper from the Hooray 6x6 pad using Spellbinders dies.  The sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp set Celebrate.  I laid the striped square on my mini MISTI, placed the sentiments how I wanted then, close the lid to my MISTI and then inked up everything for perfect placement stamping!  Love that!!  Since this card uses die cutting and SSS products I also included it in the current SSS flickr challenge to "cut it out".  I love that this card took next to no time to make thanks to the die cuts!   Going to add this to the current City Crafter challenge of birthdays.

Hope you have a wonderful day...

live in the sunshine...

Hey friends!!  Hope your week is going well.  Can't believe that summer is coming to a close.  We are still have great weather (after some thunder storms over the weekend), but the temperature has come down into the mind 80s...YAY!  I have a card to share that I made for several challenges:  CAS on Sunday - vellum, Sweet Sunday Sketch (layout) and Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge:  Citron.   The color combo is based on this week's Splitcoaststampers color challenge.  The colors are yellow, coral and lavender.   I had a hard time putting the colors together until I decided to use some patterned paper in the lavender color.  The stamps I used are from Stampin Up! (Butterfly Basics and Pursuit of Happiness).  The cardstock and patterned paper panels were die cut using my A Jillian Vance Design Polka Dot Backdrop dies.  Love the clean, crisp look that die cut panels provide!  The butterfly was die cut from PTI patterned vellum using a Stampin Up! butterfly die.  After stamping the fern image I adhered the panels per the sketch adding in a thin strip of grey cardstock.  Some lengths of baker's twine in the three main colors were cut, added to the mini clothes pin, the pin adhered to the butterfly and the butterfly adhered to the panel.   Adding this to the current Dies R Us challenge:  the great outdoors.

Thanks for stopping by today...

oh happy day...

Hey friends!!!  Popping in with a card I made for a couple of challenges, CAS on Sundays (a sketch) and Essentials by Ellen Pin-Sights challenge.  Don't you just love that saying... "oh happy day"?   It almost wasn't a happy day for me because the stamp set that this sentiment came from almost didn't make it to my house!  I had ordered a few things from Ellen Hutson last week and since she is just a few miles (well more than a few... maybe 30, lol) up the road from me I knew I would get it right away.  The package was due to arrive on Friday, but much to my surprise it wasn't in my mailbox even though the tracking said it was delivered to me!  So. Not. Happy!   Called the post office and let them know that I didn't get it.  I had a feeling it had been delivered to the wrong house and thankfully I was right when my nice neighbor (who got it instead of me) brought it down on Sunday afternoon.  YAY!   My order included the Essentials by Ellen Bold Blooms stamp set, the matching dies and the Bold Blooms stand alone dies.

The second Essentials by Ellen challenge is a photo inspiration one.  I took my inspiration from the colors uses (black, gold and white), as well as the strips on the bench.  I die cut the scribble blooms and leaves from black and gold glitter cardstock.  The stripped paper is from the My Mind's Eye Mint Julip 6x6 pad. The sentiment was stamped using VersaFine Onyx Black ink.  Given that I have a ton of patterned paper you would think I could find a piece that had black and white strips on it, but not so!  I had to hunt around to find the piece that I used for my project!

Thanks for stopping by...
