best of everything...

Hello friends!!   Here with a little card that was super quick to make and uses the current CTS sketch and the color combo from CAS Colours and Sketches.

After seeing a ton of fabulous cards made with the SU! set Mosaic Madness I finally broke down and bought the set along with the matching punch and embossing folder.  When I saw the new CTS sketch I knew it would be the perfect set to use.  Then I checked out what the new CAS Colours and Sketches challenge was and yay... it was colors this week (pale blue, grey and dark red) so I combined the two challenges.    I decided to use only one image from Mosaic Madness to keep my look very tailored and cohesive.   I stamped each color, punched them out and then popped them up on the white cardstock using foam dimensionals.  The sentiment (from the SU! set Best of Everything) was stamped using black ink.    Not a super clever card, but then I'm not a super clever paper crafter... just a simple stamper!

Thanks for stopping by...

a rainbow...

Hello friends!! Well we made it through the first week of school and I'm dead tired.  Getting the big kid an alarm clock tomorrow so we can make sure that he gets up on time!  Have a little card that I made last night using the current layout from CAS(E) this Sketch.  I must admit that when I saw the sketch my first (and pretty much only thought) was "rainbow"!   I did make sure to flipped the sketch so that my rainbow wasn't upside down, lol!

I have had the MFT rainbow die-namics die for longer than I care to say and have NEVER USED IT!  I have wanted to, but never found the right project... thankfully that project finally came along.  To make sure that my rainbow contained all correct colors I googled rainbows and found out that the colors are as follows:    red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.  I dug around in all my cardstock scraps, found corresponding colors and fired up the ol' Big Shot.  Assembling the rainbow was a bit tricky, but with the help of some tape I got it done.  The cloud is a PTI die and the sentiment is from the Reverse Confetti set Dream in Color.  After adhering the rainbow I added the cloud and sentiment.  A few sequins finished things off.   Thanks to a visit to the blog of the wildly talented Deepti I discovered that this week's CAS - Colours & Sketches challenge is rainbow!  So I will be linking my card up to that challenge, as well as this week's Fetti Find.

Thanks for stopping by...

CCC #43... hello, hexagons!

Hello friends!!  Happy Tuesday and it is indeed a happy one in my corner of the world because our splendidly fine weather continues... YAY!  And it is also a happy day because it means that a brand new CASology challenge is awaiting you on the CASology blog!  This week our cue word is "hexagon" and I know there will be a ton of fabulous hexagon related designs in the gallery.   And if that isn't enough our guest designer this week is none other than the fabulously talented Jenny of Crafting in the Country!!!   We are being sponsored this week by Cindy Coutts.  All the details can be found here.

For my card this week I went masculine and used the hexagon images from the PTI set Rosie Posie.  I'm still trying to figure out why it took me so long to purchase that set because it is absolutely fabulous!!  Anywhoo... I paired the hexagon images with a sentiment from one of my favorite Hero Arts set Year Round Sentiments and a masculine color combo from CAS Colours & Sketches.   I did take some time to do a few test runs to make sure that I liked the layout of the images before stamping the final version.   When stamping with images like the ones I used it isn't a bad idea to spend the time doing a few test runs so that you end up with a clean and simple design that makes sense.

Thanks for stopping by... I cannot wait to see what "hexagon" related ideas all you super talented papercrafters come up with for this challenge!! In the meantime make sure you check out the cards from the rest of the design team: Melissa, Tracey, Jen, Ardyth, Judy, Maureen, and Meghan
and our guest designer, Jenny!

see with our hearts...

Hello friends... gloomy day here in Western Washington.  Found a little time to make a card for a couple of challenges:  CAS(E) this Sketch and CAS - Colours & Sketches.    The challenge this week at CAS - Colours & Sketches is a color challenge:  Pool Party, Primrose Petals & Rich Razzleberry.

When I saw the sketch my first thought was to do a very straight forward take on the sketch... pretty much what I always think, lol.  But I decided to think outside the box and I came up with this very loose interpretation of the sketch.  The stamps are from the Stampin Up! set Every Moment.  The main image was stamped using Pool Party and then I added the butterfly in Primrose Petals and the sentiment using Rich Razzleberry.   As I stated above, it is a gloomy day and that means my less than stellar photography skills are decreased even more than usual... making it hard to capture the Rich Razzleberry color.   I do really like how the card turned out, though.

i heart you...

Hello friends!  Today was a yucky, rainy day and so I took some time to make a few cards.  First up is a card I made using the new color combo from CAS Colours and Sketches challenge and the current Cardabilities sketch.    The Cardabilities sketch really lends itself to clean and simple so it was perfect to pair with the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge.

I tend to be a bit to literal when it comes to sketches and have a hard time getting "outside the box".  With this card I definitely went a literal take on the sketch and used hearts and a fishtail banner.  The My Favorite Things/Lisa Johnson Designs Homespun Hearts set was just so perfect for this sketch that I had to use it and nothing else would do!  I die cut the three hearts and then stamped each with the corresponding heart image using the challenge colors.   The banner was cut using the MFT Fishtail Flag Stax dies and then the hearts layered.  Once they were attached I added the buttons.  I stamped the zig-zag stitching (from the MFT/LJD Hearts & Stitches set) in each of the colors and the adhered the banner.  The sentiment was stamped using black ink.  A few sequins were added to give the card a little something extra.

Thanks for stopping by... will be back tomorrow with the other card I made.

you're someone...

Hello friends!!  Here with a little card that I made for two challenges:  ColourQ and CAS Colours and Sketches.   I really like the color combo presented by ColourQ this week so I was definitely determined to get something made before my very busy Easter weekend sets in!

When I saw the sketch put forth by CAS Colours and Sketches this week I thought I would use my Hero Arts Bold Pop Flowers set, but then changed my mind and used another HA set, Antique Flowers and Butterflies.  I stamped the large butterflies using Always Artichoke and Simply Chartreuse (a little gift from my sweet friend, Greta) inks and then die cut them with the matching die.  The middle butterfly was stamped using Pool Party and die cut with its matching die.  The smaller butterflies were stamped using Wisteria Wonder and since I lost their matching die I had to trim them out by hand!  The top of the card stock piece was partially embossed with the Cuttlebug Modern Wallpaper EF and then the butterflies attached.  The sentiment is from another Hero Art set called Very Special.

thinking of you...

Hello friends!!  The weekend is here... YAY!   We have been having some typical PacNW weather this week:  rain, wind and sunshine... all in one day or even in one hour, lol!  I'm not complaining though.  We had a really mild winter and I will take that over all the snow that they get in the Midwest any day!!  Anywhoo... I got a chance to make a card today for a couple of challenges:  CAS Colours and Sketches and Cardabilities.  I haven't done a Cardabilities challenge in ages and really wanted to make something using the current sketch.   Since this week is color week at CAS Colours and Sketches the two challenges were a perfect fit.

I hadn't intended on using two different polka dot papers for the card, but after fiddling around for a while trying to find a patterned paper in a Soft Suede-type color I had to give up because I couldn't find anything that worked.   I think that the SU! River Rock color (the sort of beige-green color) needs to be put with a bolder color like the red to make it work.  The bird (Memory Box Perched Reed Bird) was die cut from the Soft Suede color and then embossed with the Swiss Dot (along with one of the little white banners) for some added texture as well as to tie them into the whole polka dot thing I had going on.  All the banners were die cut using my favorite dies EVER... My Favorite Things Fishtail Flag Stax dies.  The sentiment if from a Hero Arts/BasicGrey set called Enjoy.

there is no one like you....

Hello friends!!  As many of you probably know, PTI is celebrating it's 6th anniversary and there have been some fun contests going on.  I missed one of them and wanted to get a card made for today's contest which is to make a project using one of PTI's Year of Flowers sets.  I have six of them and for the very first time (yep... very first time... so sad!) I inked up the YOF Larkspurs set.  I used the color combo for this week's CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge.    I have to say that I'm super excited about today's PTI announcement.  PTI is now going to offer dies that match each of the YOF sets!!!  I'm planning on picking up the ones that corresponde to the sets I have.

Because I wanted to make sure I got the card done before 7:00 am est on Saturday I kept my card very simple.  I stamped the image on Vintage Cream cardstock using Memento Tuxedo black and then colored it with Copic markers.  Once I was done coloring the image I trimmed it to fit the card front as you see.  I then stamped the sentiment from the Larkspur set on Vintage Cream and die cut the fishtail banner using my MFT Fishtail Flag Stax dies.   The banner was trimmed down and the corners rounded.  I tied some kraft bakers twine through a Plum Pudding button and adhered it to the banner.

with love...

Hello friends!  Monday has rolled around again.  The boys have the day off from school so they are very happy!  I have a little card I made for several challenges, Dynamic Duos (soft suede & crumb cake), CAS Colours and Sketches (a sketch) and Our Creative Corner (use woodgrain & a button).  My sweet bloggy friend, Sue, is a Our Creative Corner dt member and when I saw her amazing card Ijust had to play along with the OCC challenge this week.

I followed the CAS Colours and Sketches sketch very faithfully and used a heart as my center image.  I have had the Spellbinders plain and scalloped hearts dies for ages, but never really used them... this was the perfect opportunity.  I die cut the kraft (crumb cake) cardstock using a MFT jumbo fishtail flag stax die, then put it in my woodgrain embossing folder and ran it through the Big Shot.  The hearts were die cut and the image from the SU! set Vintage Fresh was stamped on the plain heart using Crumb Cake ink.  A flower from the same set was stamped using Hero Arts Latte ink (a dead ringer for Soft Suede), trimmed out and popped up as you see.  The sentiment from the SU! set Field Flowers was stamped with Latte ink.  Then everything was assembled and a little button and twine embellishment added.

ETA:  adding this to the current  Addicted to CAS challenge... heart.
