Hola
Familia!
We had a good week this week, we had a few changes, so it was kind of a weird week.
Sadly, Hermana Schultz left our little companionship. There was a sister that went home, so a Hermana was a switched to English program, and a few Hermanas got switched around. Luckily, Hermana Schultz just got switched over to the other Little River companionship, so she is still in our ward! She is also companions with my MTC roommate, so we all hang out together. In fact, the four of us are headed to DC today! :)
We
started off the week amazing. We had a super impactful and
amazing few days at the beginning when we got the call Hermana
Schultz would be transferred.
Thursday we
went on exchanges. I went to another area for the day to be with my
Sister Training Leader. Hermana ward, my leader, is a LOT like
me. She was companions with Hermana Simpson and she always told us that we
were identical. It was super fun to be with her! I learned a lot.
We
went to a member’s house that night, and she taught us how to make
Pupusas, a Salvadorian specialty. I am excited to make them for you guys!
They were amazing. The whole night, me and Hermana Ward were laughing
and having fun visiting her investigators. Plus, she has a boyfriend she gets
to go home and see in a month, so we got to chat about that. :)
This
week, we had a weekly planning session and we set some goals. Well, we set some
high goals for referrals. We haven't been getting many, and we have needed
them, because it is the best way to find solid investigators. Because of all
the changes, we had no time to visit members, but we had faith in our goals.
Yesterday, we got a few random calls, but other missionaries or members that
had somebody they want us to teach!!!! Isn't it wonderful that when we trust in
the Lord, and exercise faith, he provides a way and helps us meet our
goals?
Saturday,
we had a few parties. It was another Hermana's birthday, so a
few of us showed up at her apartment to surprise her. She is
SUPER healthy and fit, so we had no idea what to get her as a gift. So.....we
bought her broccoli. She loved it!
We
also had a few members that wanted to do something for her, so we had
like 3 dinner appointments. One of them was at Hermana Alba's. She is
a single mom and an incredible member. After the party, she ended up
expressing her testimony and her love for the gospel. She is not married,
and really would like to be. But she has complete trust
that she will be one day. Either in this life, or the next. What
faith.
I also
learned how to make pupusas again, on Saturday! Our
investigator Yesenia taught us. Afterwards, we had a lesson on family
unity. We had challenged them to read a chapter of the Book of Mormon together
and had not done it. We challenged them again. I have really developed a
testimony of doing the small thing, on my mission. The little things like
reading our scriptures, saying our prayers, and going to church as a
family is the ultimate cure for any problems, and is the ultimate
protection for our homes.
In
Relief Society yesterday, a Sister from the Stake came and told us
a story about a new sister in her Relief Society that sat alone
each week, and nobody would fellowship her. When she mentioned this, we
looked around and saw a few sisters sitting alone. I was so grateful that
right before the lesson I had felt prompted to sit with one of them,
and asked another missionary to sit by the other. Heavenly Father
loves and cares for each of his children, we simply need to be
his hands.
There
had been a few times this week, that I had felt prompted to comfort
somebody. Even when I am down or not in the mood, myself. Sometimes I
wonder....why don't we help others more? We ALWAYS feel so
good afterward, and so do they. So why do we forget to do it sometimes?
Me and
Hermana Moleli are doing good. It was sad to see Hermana Schultz leave us,
but we are growing and learning a lot from each other. We should
hopefully have a few baptisms happen this month. We are trying our
best to leave our area better than before.
My
mission has been such an incredible experience so far. It hasn't been
easy, but it has been enjoyable. We see little miracles daily. I remember that
I have had trials and hard times, but I don't remember why. But I
will never forget the miracles we have seen.
I love
you all! Thank you for all you do :) Keep it up!
Con
mucho amor,
Hermana
Spencer
