The New Master Bath

M and I were tickled by the fact that most of you thought the before picture of our teeny tiny master bath was in fact the after.

We were constantly bumping into each other.. everything was golden and most things were being held together with caulk.. the previous owners solution for most things..oh and how can we forget our very own bathroom phone.. lol

Our plan from the moment we bought this house was to use this space to create a larger bathroom. The two doors to the left are the his and her walk in closets.. we got rid of those doors and created a new door.. but more about the closet later.

We hired the contractor, worked out the design and then came the fun but hard part picking a color palette, buying the vanity.. choosing tiles. So many options!

The door to the left is for the new joint walk in closet and the door on the right to the new master bathroom. and now the after

TIPS:
-Pinterest is both a god send and the devil.. look at the pictures.. identify what you like and then stop. The more you see the more confused and overwhelmed you will be.
-We.. I fell in love with the vanity on Overstock but in the reviews most people complained about pieces arriving broken or cracked. We could not afford to take that risk. M preferred we purchase from a place with a brick mortar.. The same vanity was available in Home Depot for a few $$ more. I called them and told them I felt more comfortable shopping with them and they price matched it.. WIN! It never hurts to ask.
- Listen to your contractor, this is their job they know things you may not have ever thought of. But in the end you have to also follow your gut, they don't know everything. Both the contractors we interviewed insisted we not create a half wall between the shower and vanity but we held firm and I am so glad we did.

  22. We have a tiny master bathroom and thought about expanding, but it was just too much money. Instead we just worked with what we had and put in a double sink. It's more tolerable now. Love your bathroom transformation. How did you guys fare through all that construction?
