Command Center
We almost always use our garage as our point of entry to the house. On entering through the garage door we have a tiny landing strip with doors leading to the laundry room and such and a few steps to one side leading to the main floor.. up the steps and just before you enter the kitchen is yet another landing strip of sorts..
It's a small space between our kitchen and dinning room.. and what we decided would be the perfect place to store our shoes.. we were taking them off and tripping over them there anyway.. and also a place for a calendar, things to help us stay organized.
This set of skinny shoes organizers fit perfectly.. and store plenty of shoes.. we have a no shoe policy in the house
and on the opposite wall I found a large dry erase calendar decal.. this way we all know what's happening when..
underneath we hung this cute little photo display we got as a house warming gift to display all of D's artwork.. not a fan of the refrigerator displays..
I am now currently on the hunt for a small key holder/ mail holder currently everything sort of piles up on our dining table.. I found a cute one at Target the other day but it was so flimsy and plasticy.. so still looking.. let me know if you happen to spot one.

Isn't it a nice feeling of accomplishment when you get organized and make a space functional?!?! Great ideas!
ReplyDeleteI like the style of the shoe cabinet. It looks like it can hold a lot.
ReplyDeleteThe dry eraser decal is neat.
You can make a key holder using hooks from the hardware store. It might be a nice project for D to help with.
As for staying organized, thank you for the smiles and laughter I'm engaged in as I type. Organize I can do. Stay is the problem.lol
staying is the challenge..
Deleteoh that show holder is perfection! I just have a pile of shoes in the foyer. I hate wearing shoes in the house.
ReplyDeleteOh your home looks so inviting, and love the dark floors. I am soooo on board with this trend.

It's so cute the space you have found for D!
;)
I hope everything is going fine!
Bye!!
It's looking fab! I love the show older, my parents always had one growing up. We just keep all our shoes under the radiators in the living room. There's a lot of them, ha.

Such gorgeous colors on the walls!
ReplyDeleteGreat use of that space!
ReplyDeleteThe garage is the entry to my home too. It's always a struggle at my home though as we lack storage!

Things look nice and organized now. I found a key hook in Montreal years ago and still use it, I'm sure you'll find one when you least expect it.
ReplyDeleteWe just have a small landing as you enter our house as well. Good for coats, but not shoes...they're always in the way. Love your organizer and large calendar.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea - such a good way to keep your home organized!
ReplyDeleteYou've done a marvelous job keeping your home organized! You have such great ideas!

ReplyDeleteI love your lovely home and all the thoughts you share with us :). I keep organized with my Molskine and phone calendar, but when (if) I ever have any kids I bet things will get more complicated... :D

That shoe cabinet is really neat, quite literally as it helps you keep what would otherwise look messy, looking neat! Curious to know where you got it because we could use one of those too.

DeleteI really like the wall calendar!
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool shoe cabinet. We ordered some time ago pieces that were on sale from Pottery Barn's wall organizer system. We have the calendar whiteboard and the letter bin, plus another piece.
ReplyDeletelove the look of the PB wall organizer system
DeleteLove the calendar. Can I ask where you found it?

I love the big calendar near the door, it would be perfect for us, I love the big shoe cupboard too.
ReplyDeleteSuch areas in homes are absolutely necessary - I'm mulling over our "message center" as I call it right now. Try HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, Ross or other similar type store for a key holder and mail organizer - they will be about the same price at Target but sturdier though you may have to go a few times to find the right one.
