What I Wore: Stripe It Up

Outfit Details
Dress: Forever21
Belt: Forever21
Socks: Target
Boots: Ebay
Hair Scarf: Antique store
Sunglasses: Target

I actually wore this outfit several weeks ago and then forgot about the pictures on my camera. The end of a school quarter will do that to you. I have no idea what day it is lately. [hopefully I will remember I have a dentist appointment Friday, I've already rescheduled 3 times. yikes!]

September is going to fly by, I can already feel it. This quarter ends in 9 days, will be vending at STRUT, and then I'm road-tripping it up to Chicago to attend the Cusp Conference! When I come home I will HOPEFULLY be moving. Knock on some wood and cross some fingers for me. ;D ...and then school starts up all over again  wooooweeee

What I Wore: Felt Bow Tie

I'm all about shorts this year, which is a tad strange because I haven't worn shorts a lot in the past 8-10 years. I think it stems from the embarrassment I received from faculty in high school. I don't know if it's apparent from photos, or if I've ever mentioned my height on here, but I'm fairly tall. I'm 5'9", and have been pretty much since 8th grade.

Which means that shorts can look ...well, pretty dang short on me. It doesn't help that inseams keep getting smaller--I mean I've seen shorts boast about their "micro inseam" before! [these are not shorts I purchase, but are pretty hilarious to try on]

Anyway, so back when I was in high school faculty would frequently call me to the front of the class, or stop me in the hall, so that I could do the finger test. This test was how they determined if girls were wearing shorts, skirts, or dresses that were an inappropriate length for school. What you would do was place both arms straight down, and if the bottom of your garment was shorter than your pinky finger, you had to be sent home to change, or receive a demerit that could result in further disciplinary action if you were a repeat offender.

Luckily for me, I always passed the test, but the constant questioning of if I was dressed inappropriately or not made me feel ashamed of how I looked in shorts.
So for the most part, I just stopped wearing them altogether. But this year it's all about being proud of my body and wearing what I want---legs, meet the world!

What I Wore: Forest Fresh

I am not the type of person that is afraid to wear tights and/or boots in the summer. I wear jeans year round, so I think I've just conditioned my body not to care about the extra layers in the heat. It probably also helps that I get cold easily-- as a child I actually liked sitting in hot cars!

What I Wore: Floral Shorts

For the past few days I've been holed up with my extended family down in Cape San Blas, Florida riding out tropical storm Debby. This isn't how any of us wanted to spend our summer vacation and we are all crossing our fingers we will be getting a bit of sun before the week is over.

This is an outfit I wore before we left for our soggy vacation, and as you can tell, my gams could really use some sunshine!

What I Wore: Cold Shoulder

I'm trying to break out of wearing plain t-shirts. I wear them a lot. As I type this I'm wearing a t-shirt that I've worn so much it's falling apart...but that means it's sooo soft! I kinda love all the holes, frays, and thin spots. Some people pay good money to get a shirt to look like this. However, sometimes my old t-shirts just don't cut it, and I turn to tops with classier cutouts that aren't there because I've worn it 8 million times. ;)

Cold lens + hot weather= pretty effects [for the first few shots anyway]

What I Wore: Casual Bling

It's been rainy and gloomy for the past 2 weeks. So when there was a decent sunny day I jumped at the chance to wear something that wasn't going to be hidden under a coat and umbrella.  Of course I decided to wear all black and grey! Fixed that by layering some pink tights under my striped pair. I'm bummed that the striped tights got a run in them later that day though. :(

P.S. You can kinda see my new hair color in these photos. Went back to my bright auburn. Thinking when I touch it up that I might go even more red. What do you all think?

However, this is probably my best outfit photo ever.  It was REALLY sunny. ;)

What I Wore: Junkin' with Amanda

Outfit Details
Dress: Kohls
Cardigan: Zara
Belt: Forever21
Tights: We Love Colors
Shoes: Kohls
Bee Necklace: handmade by me

On Friday Amanda and I perused a couple junk and thrift shops. The day ended up being quite nice and fairly warm, which was a nice change from the cold rain we have been enduring lately. We didn't leave with many treasures, but the looks we got at the local pizza joint made it well worth it.  I don't think we looked crazy, but you'd think we both had flaming dancing penguins on our heads by the stares we got!  All in all, it was fun and I see many more junkin' adventures in our future. :D

What I Wore: Pumpkin and Apple Pickin'

This past Sunday was full of pumpkin patches and apple orchards! It was a perfect opportunity to try out some new tights that were graciously sent to me by We Love Colors. I've been a fan of their  microfiber solid color tights because of the range of colors and how durable they are. I'm not a delicate creature--I need tights that can stand up to my outbursts. ;D

What I Wore : Chatty Crafty

This past weekend was Chatty Crafty in Chattanooga, TN. Matt and I drove up on Saturday to visit our friends that were vending and check out all the other great vendors. :D

Our friends: Lindsay from Pretty Pop Designs, and Laura from RawK+KandY!

The show was nicely arranged and there were a lot of great vendors I had not seen before. One in particular I fell in love with-I'll have a post about them tomorrow! I'm sad there was a threat of rain all weekend for them since it was an outdoor show, but I think it really only got them some on Sunday.

I was wearing a new dress I had just received, so before we got too hot and miserable, Matt humored me and took some photos of me by the waterfront. Of course I'm more partial to the ones where I'm being a goof. ;)

Look at that bag! I could be smuggling a cat in there for all anybody knows ;D

What I Wore : Cat Dress

You know, this time two/three years ago, I wasn't a cat person.  I didn't mind cats...I liked cats, but they weren't high on my radar. Then Nibbler, Stinker, and Creeper came into my life and I am now 3 cats away from officially being crazy. So of course I wear cat print dresses now! ;D

sometimes it's better to wonder who's hand that is
Look, I don't always make the best faces...BUT this is a great example of the Monocle necklace doing it's thing--MAGNIFYING! :D
