Needs

I didn't really need this. But I bought it anyway. The companion DVD is excellent as well. Blur videos always put a smile on my face.

About Time

In August I told you to get excited for the Japanese version of the Beetlebum single.

Get excited.

Lag

I think I started sending my brother Blur albums over six months ago.

I knew I was behind on posting. But not this behind.

Blur - Think Tank. Amazon.com. New.

Depression

I always think of "No Distance Left to Run" as being one of the songs that marked the end of Blur. I know there is an album after 13, but it was never the same.

Even the video feels somewhat final.

Beginning of the End

I didn't like 13 the first few times I listened to it.

"Tender" went on forever and sounded like "Kumbaya."

Eventually it started to grow on me. It took repeated listens. And the passage of time. It doesn't come close to the albums that preceded it. Although it certainly stands on it's own.

Is it one of my favorite Blur albums? No. But there are a lot of great songs on here. "No Distance Left to Run" is a downer that I'd put in my Blur top ten.

I finally came around on "Tender". It took the Cornelius remix to do so. "Kumbaya" sentiments and all.

Blur - 13. New.

Song 2

It's a shame that this is the song Blur will be remembered for. Forever.

Sports. Advertisements. It continues to have legs.

Leisure Island

About ten years ago I spent some time in South Africa. Part of the trip included a drive up the Garden Route. One of those nights I stayed in a bed and breakfast on Leisure Island. A gated community all too common in South Africa.

I ate well on Leisure Island. Somehow art was purchased. Art was carried on my back. Art then needed to be flown home.

Terribly inconvenient mid-trip purchase.

Senile

It is my third favorite Blur album. It has a ton of singles. And The Universal is probably in my top five Blur songs.

Yet when rattling off Blur releases to my brother, I forgot to list it.

I will blame old age.

Vacation

I have been out of town for a few days.

Please be patient while I catch up on posts. And life in general.

First to Last

I was pleased when my brother informed me he wanted to dive into the world of Blur.

I asked him if he wanted the albums in chronological order. Or in the order of my personal preference.

Personal preference it is.

Hindsight Foresight

In 2000 the Princeton Record Exchange had a Blur box set for sale. The set consisted of every CD single released up until that point.

I didn't want to spend the money. Plus, I already owned a number of the singles.

In retrospect I should have bought it. It would have taken care of the discography gaps I'm still working on today.

Fifth or Sixth On My List

I never loved the self-titled full-length.

It's grown on me over time.

M.O.R. has always been a stand out.

I love the video as well.

Reunited

Think Tank, the post-Graham Coxon Blur endeavor was, for the most part, average at best.

Except for the Coxon co-penned "Battery In Your Leg."

It is one of my favorite Blur songs.

When I think about that song it makes me even more excited for his "return." Not that I'll ever spend the money to see them live. Abroad or stateside.

Graham Coxon - The Sky Is Too High. ??? New.
