Hallmarks of a Preppy Home

I came across these beautiful images from illustrator, Nina Montenegro who showcases some essentials for a preppy home! How many of these items do you own?

Spring has sprung with Tulipieres

Since Spring has sprung, I wanted to share some beautiful tulipieres and a little history. At the height of "tulip mania" in the mid 1600's when 1 tulip bulb cost as much as 1 oxen or 1,000 pounds of cheese, these delicate flowers could not be put in any vase. Holland's tulip fiends collaborated with Delft to produce what we know as the Tulipiere, an uber vase designed to show off a bunch of precious flowers to their best individual advantage...and so the tulipiere was born!

Clovers

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, I wanted to feature some quatrefoil shapes design inspirations that resembles the shape of a clover! I know they have been endlessly blogged about, but fun for today to bring back this fun shape!

Benjamin Dhong

I came across Benjamin Dhong from an amazing kitchen I found. At first I was trying to pin a few pictures then I realized there were just too many that I loved and in case he is new to you, I just HAD to share him with you!!! Which picture is your favorite?

Neutral kitchen accented with yellow flowers and stools with match the yellow ikat print in the breakfast nook.

Love these navy cabinets and the marble backsplash!

I love the light wood, white washed walls, the gothic twig mirror greek key trim, not to mention the ever cute wooden table with fresh flowers and Diptyque candle.

Great bathroom with sand colored linen walls and moravian star lighting

Love the blue wash on the wood grain walls with contrasting blue ceiling

Not everyone has glass showers, but Dhong makes this shower look great with the sunburst mirror and olive velvet stools and matching trim.

Such a pinworthy little girls room with mixture of modern toile and zebra with antique beds and rocker.

Love the two different "fun" fabrics on the side chairs.

Sweet Christmas

I have alot of candy ornaments which is fun since I can always focus on getting one type of ornament theme (and usually get fun ones as gifts), but I also mix in my favorite blown glass ones that I get. I feel like I have noticed more and more candy themed Christmas items now. I still need to get around to finishing my tree and then I can post some pictures, but in the meantime, here are candy themed inspirations from tree decor to wreaths and my last year's decor.

Here was my candy decor on my table runner for 2010 Christmas morning brunch

My Christmas tree from 2010

Close-up of my tree last year. You can see a few of my candy ornaments: sugared gumdrop garland, ribbon, candy cane, gumdrop, etc ornaments. There is even an ornament which is a 4 piece of boxed chocolates.

One of my grandmother's handmade Christmas trees which has some candy on it since it's a Valentine's/love themed tree.

Candy topiaries in varying sizes can be made with mints, candy canes, cinnamon dots, apple rings, etc. Last year I made the peppermint topiary and let me tell you with all those peppermints, it's heavy!

Christmas Botanicals

I saw this Park City house featured in Trad Home. I loved how there were a lot of botanical influences in their Christmas decor, from paperwhite bulbs, planted hydrangeas in silver urns, amaryllis and maidenhair ferns in silver bowls, boxwood wreath over mirror and windows, and lots of great white floral arrangements.
