Hello September....

Where has the summer gone?  Time does fly by!

This quilt was made by me!  I still can't believe I made this.  I joined the Kim Diehl club at the Ye Olde Schoolhouse Quilt Shop. This quilt was a challenge!  I'm kind of new to quilting, I know how to sew but quilting is quite different. Cutting accurately all those little squares, marking, sewing a scant quarter inch seam, all those little pieces to stay organized are just a few things I learned how to do. Oh and read directions over and over again.  I am totally hooked on quilting!  I can't wait for the next class :-)

I getting ready for my craft fairs. Making a lot of wool appliqué pieces.

Scarecrows

And more wool.

First fair September 19 @10:00, Holy Hill Art and Crafts Fair in Hubertus, WI.

Now for a tip....

I like my work to have a primitive look.  Sometime when working with wool I can't get the antique looking color I like.    If the color is too bright coffee dye it!

See the difference? The piece on the right is the coffee dyed wool...the perfect color!

All Prepped and Ready to Sew....

I spent the last two days prepping some stitching and stitching.

I have my block of the month ready for stitching. These are blocks 9 and 10 of Norma Whaley's How Does Your Garden Grow. I'm running a little behind but I'm hoping to get these done before my next blocks come....that's my goal.

This table topper is all ready for stitching.... I just love this!
This is a custom order.  My customer and I worked together to come up with this design.
I love it when two minds work together so well!

Here's the fabric for my next project.  All starched just hanging to dry.
Yes I do starch my fabric before cutting into it.  I think it's easier to cut the fabric more accurately  when it is starched.

I bought this kit along with the pattern in Chicago when I went to the Quilt Market. So cute and I get to do a little embroidery on this one.

I finished these pillows last night.  These are going to be for sale at my craft fairs. They look so great on the chair I just might have to make one for myself :-)

I'm off to do some stitching.

Enjoy your weekend,
Leanne

Prep, Stitch, Prep, Stitch

I'm back to hand stitching some wool pieces.  I thought I better get back to getting ready for my craft fairs which are happening in the fall.  I like to cut out a bunch of backgrounds at one time, finish them off and start all over again.

I know I told you these pieces were for my craft fairs but I just might have to keep this one.  It looks so springy looking and I have the perfect spot for it.
I'm not finished yet it still needs the backing.

It's hard to tell but this piece is a wine color.
I just love the color.  I wish I had more of this wool.

I always like having hand stitching projects around.
I usually do a little stitching every night.
It's so calming and the perfect thing to do while watching tv.

I think I'm stitching this mat in black. I love scrappy....penny rugs and quilts.

If you knew me you would be laughing because I am such a matchy matchy person but I just love scrappy.  It's the perfect way to use up the small pieces of wool. I am so frugal with hand dyed wool. If a piece of wool is 1 inch by 1 inch I save it.  I even save pieces smaller than that for stuffing certain pieces. I hate to see any of the wool go to waste.

I just love the flowers on this runner and the lace edging is the perfect way to finish it off.
I have this runner on Ebay right now.  Click here to see more pictures and more offerings.

I'm off to enjoy this beautiful sunny day.
Happy stitching,
Leanne

Just Sharing....

Some Photos of Finished Projects.

I've been working on some cross stitch and punchneedle for my fall fairs.

The stitching was done in February but I just wasn't sure how to finish them off.
 So searched my favorite site....
Pintrest
(you can follow me just click here)
for Inspiration and Ideas.
Well did that get my mind going.

It was a lot of fun searching for unusual frames and trimming and old buttons.
I painted the frames black and aged them. The backgrounds are wool some hand dyed wools.

See I'm trying to get ready for my fairs.
I feel like I'm running behind.
You can check out my facebook page for more pictures of
what I've been working on.

Enjoy your day,
Leanne

It's Mitten Time and A Thank You....

I've been working on some mitten penny rugs and table runners.

I just love making these....mixing colors and patterns.

With mittens there is snow and snowmen.

I don't always work on penny rugs but penny rug crocks too!
Did you know I paint on crocks?

I keep all my threads and small fabric snippets in here when I sew.
It helps keep my sewing area a little neater.

I have been working so hard on keeping up with my craft fairs.
One more to go! I'll be at the

Holiday Marketplace
Saturday, November 23rd
9:00-3:30

Happy November....

I just wanted to wish you a Happy November!
Can you believe how quickly October flew by?

I've been busy crafting, crafting, crafting...three more fairs to go.

This autumn wreath is what greets you at my front door.  I bought this wreath last year after fall for a really discounted price.  Now this is not exactly what it looked like.  I added some extras...more color with cranberry leaves and some ribbon.  I just love how it turned out and it's so big you can even see it from the street.
I have to say I really enjoy making these guys or girls.  I search all year long for just the right candle sticks.  I then decide if the candle stick looks like it should be with a pumpkin or snowman or snowlady, primitive or not.
 I dusted these with cinnamon.
Can you see the jewelry accents?  I search for all year for jewelry for just that added sparkle.  They are dusted with a real fine glitter. These are all one of a kind...no two are alike.
Back to stitching.  I love changing up colors to see how different a piece will look.
 I can't get enough sunflowers.
 I'm big on pillows.
My family asks me how many pillows do we need in this house....as many as I can fit!
I had so much fun doing all the curly-q's on this pillow.
 Table topper for fall....
 table topper for winter.
So you can see how happily busy I've been.
I'm working on some mitten table toppers and runners right now....I'll share them with you when I'm done.

Some of these items I will have on ebay, some will go with me on my craft fairs and some will stay right at home with me.

Enjoy your day,
Leanne

I Love Fall and.....

Craft Fairs!!!!

I'd like to share some pictures of my booth from the Holy Hill craft fair two weeks ago.
It was a beautiful day, the sun was out, no wind and plenty of shoppers.

See my handpainted crocks?  I bet you didn't know I painted on crocks.
See my dolls...I love picking out fabrics for their dresses and fixing their hair.

See my wool applique?  I've been stitching like crazy.
Grandma's suitcase full of penny rugs.
When I get tired of stitching, I start painting, when I get tired of that I start sewing on the machine or start cutting out a new project or make a new doll.
I had just enough time to take these pictures before the fair started.

Here's a list on my next fairs. Come say Hi!

Let's Cool Off With Thoughts Of....

Autumn and Winter.

I just thought I'd share some of the stitching I've been doing.

It's been soooo hot around here....I can't wait for Autumn and Winter.

Just picture me stitching on wool at a baseball game with temps in the 90's and 100's.
Yes, that's what I've been doing...my son's baseball games can last 2 1/2 hours so what better way to pass the time between innings but to stitch.

When I stitch snowmen I try to think of cooler temps.

Or I try to remember what it feels like to add layers instead of taking them off.
Well I hope these images help cool you off a bit.
You know cooler weather is just around the corner.

I added some new things on ebay. If you would like to take a look just click here.
Enjoy your day,
Leanne

Still Stitching, Sewing and Painting....

I've been working hard trying to finish up some projects.

My days are full of sewing....

 more sewing....

and painting (along with laundry and cleaning).

I'm working hard to fill these shelves for my craft fairs.

Only 184 days until my first craft fair...
it sounds like a lot of time but I usually don't get much done in summer.

I'm off to get something done...
Enjoy your day,
Leanne
