Puppies

I don't post these as often as I used to, but I am still regularly taking pictures at the dog rescue. Adoptions continue to take place at an impressive rate, though the doc does not do holiday adoptions, which I admire. Most of the time, I take pictures of the pups and they get scooped up before I ever get to know them. Sometimes we get one that's sick and needs medical attention, at which point I do lots of snuggling and nursing. We also get adult dogs, which take longer to adopt and often have interesting, if somewhat depressing, life stories. Here are some photos from the last six months or so.

This is Pearl. She was living in a house with larger dogs in PR. When she had puppies, she became defensive of them and started attacking the larger dogs in the house. She was going to get herself killed! They turned her over and she was flown here with her pups. She'd never been handled and was totally terrified of people. She spent several weeks in the clinic with me after her pups were weaned. I bribed her and snuggled her and helped to get her tame. She was adopted by a family who was prepared to continue working with her on her socialization and is doing great!

Sola, a white shepherd mix, came in with a litter of pups too. She came bounding up with them as if to say, "Look, I made these!" She's a great farm dog who is super friendly and obedient already. She is currently available for adoption.
