Cocoa Vanilla Studio: RAD Boys Rule!

Hey Friends!

Welcome back for more Cocoa Vanilla Studio Design Team inspiration!
Today I am sharing a super fun, mixed media, grungy, boy page for geometric theme week!
I just had to use the awesome new BOYS RULE collection for this cool kid layout!
"RAD"

Whoa! Super RAD indeed!
I've opted for big impact with striking pops of colour, bold use of texture and all our AWESOME embellishments!
Here's a closer look for you....

There are so many fun details & elements coming to play in this design! & I did warn you it was a grungy, messy, mixed media page! Sometimes it's good for your creativity to go wild - and what could be more appropriate for my Wild Child on the scooter, lol!

I've incorporated this week's geometric theme with the triangle pattern paper CV-BR005 MESSED UP (B side), and then followed through with fussy cut pattern paper triangles, and a triangle mask for all that texture paste! I even flipped the mountains DIE CUT EPHEMERA to mimic the downwards triangles! So cool!

I have used the reverse side of pattern paper, CV-BR001 HAPPY GO LUCKY, as my layout base. Apart from the striking black, I just love how it looks 'grainy' & distressed. Such a cool, textural look, that works so well with our edgy masculine creations.

I layer the pattern paper base with a variety of mediums. I start with aqua & lime pastes which I apply with a palette knife in horizontal strokes (to compliment the grain in the paper). I then build on this paste with the triangles mask & a white dimensional paste. I add white ink splatters, and then a mix of high gloss pastes (lime greens, & blues) using the mask as both a stencil & stamp. To complete the mixed media element, I add more inky splatters in both white & aqua.
With such a dramatic background, I have opted for lots of black and white embellishments (and even use a black and white photograph) to cut through, and balance all that striking color.

Next, I matte my photo onto a mix of pattern paper rectangles - mostly my leftover cuts from pattern paper CV-BR004 FUN & GAMES, (see my previous creation with this paper HERE) and a torn white paper bag from my stash. I staple the underneath layers together through the center, to keep the edges 'open' to allow the insertion of DIE CUT EPHEMERA and ACCESSORY STICKERS.
I attach the photo layers to my page, and then adorn my photograph with fun embellishments. I just love that cool CHIPBOARD PIECES label 'Fun & Games' - such a perfect descriptor for my photo!

On closer view, you'll also spy both DIE CUT & MISCELLANY EPHEMERA, as well as more of my fussy cut triangles directing your eye into my photograph.
The CHIPBOARD PIECES 'RAD' title is the final addition to my photograph, before embellishing the remainder of my page.

I know I say this every release, but seriously the FLAIR!!! SO good! Always so perfectly coordinated, and another fun way to add dimension to your layouts! #BoysRule indeed!

Loving that skull n cross bones DIE CUT EPHEMERA too! Such a cool accessory for our rough 'n' tumble, dare devil boys! And while we're talking all things EPHEMERA, how fabulous is that ombre blue 'AWESOME' subtitle?!! LOVE the inclusion of bigger words in the DIE CUT EPHEMERA pack! SO good!
For finishing touches, it's a few more ACCESSORY STICKERS, and a smattering of both CHIPBOARD & DIE CUT stars!

So.much.awesome!!!!
When it comes to scrapping the boys, BOYS RULE, really does rule!
I hope my bold page has inspired you to get creating with this super cool collection!
Thanks so much for visiting,
til next time,

Have Yourself A Shimmery Little Christmas!

Hi Creative Friends!

Can you believe it's time for my final Shimmerz Social Team share of the year?!!
Time really does fly when we're having fun-
and I have had an absolute ball creating for Shimmerz Paints!

So I'd like to wish you a Shimmer-y Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Here's what I've created for you today....

"Christmas Magic"

How awesome is this?!!
I just couldn't resist creating a Christmas bauble layout to showcase these incredible paints.
Super stunning, huh?!!
I just love the colour intensity and quality of Shimmerz Paints
& seriously, if you haven't tried their products yet - you dont know what you're missing!
SO good!
You'll also spy the fabulous FaLaLa collection from Crate Paper - love it!
The bright colours in this super fun Christmas line inspired my colour choices for those pretty paints!
Here's how my layout started....

I used a palette knife and smeared Dazzlerz: Sea U in the Morning, Tutti Frutti & Paste-eez: Raspberry Sherbert in a circular motion to create my ornament 'ball'.
This was tons of fun and it looks so effective too!
I then added a lil interest with inky splatters from Spritz: Ruby, Cotton Candy & Vibez: Jeni B Bleu.
Here's a closer look for you.....

Just look at that shimmer!!! Ga Ga Gorgeous!
To complete the bauble, I used Gold Kindy Glitz to create the top of my ornament.
Once dry, I created my layout within the bauble.
Super simple - but oh so effective!
Here's a few close ups for you....

Christmas Magic, indeed!
The Shimmerz Paints are a perfect match to that chipboard sticker FALALALALA !
Told you the colour intensity is aaaahmazing!

Shimmerz Paints: November Hello Happy!

Hi Creative Friends!

Time for a lil more Shimmerz Paints inspiration!
Today I am focusing on the gorgeous Paste-eez ....

Paste-eez
Gah! They're soooooo pretty!
But what are Paste-eez?
PAPASTE-EEZ is a smooth dimensional paste with a matte (low sheen) finish.
They come in a 3oz Jar in 12 incredible colors.
Here's what I have created with mine today......

"Hello Happy"

Oh happiness indeed!!!
Love those gorgeous pop colours!
& dont they just look terrific with Shimelle's Glitter Girl line?!!
For this layout, I used:
Paste-eez: Raspberry Sherbert
Paste-eez: Peach Fuzz
Paste-eez: Yell-O It's Me &
Paste-eez: Baby Boy Blue
The colours are so vibrant and intense! Just beautiful!
I applied the Paste-eez with a palette knife, but an old store/credit card would work just as easily.
Here's a few close ups for you....

That Raspberry Sherbert is one of my all-time FAVE Shimmerz Paints products - photos just don't do it justice!
Such a beautiful colour!
I love the contrast of it against the Peach Fuzz too!

SO cheerful & happy!
The blue and yellow make my heart sing!
It really is ALL about the colour at Shimmerz Paints!

Shimmerz Paints: Raspberry Sherbert meets Bohemian Dream!

Hi Creatives!

Time for another super mixed media share with my latest from Shimmerz Paints!
Today I am teaming up their gorgeous colours with the super pretty
Bohemian Dream collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio!

Here's what I've created......

"Shine Bright"

Ohh swooon! Isn't this just the prettiest?!!
So many beautiful details here!
And lots of floral delights too!
Believe it or not, this layout originally started as a 6" x 12" page - but it just felt too unfinished for me!
As soon as I laid it onto the 12 x 12 woodgrain paper it felt 'right'.
I knew I wanted to create a beautiful mixed media base, so naturally, I chose to use Shimmerz Paints products!
I started with Inklingz: Pearl: Pugnacious Purple and applied it with the packaging technique. The pearl finish is hard to capture on camera, but in real life the sheen is just divine!
To add a lil dimension and variance in colour,
I also add fine splatters in Creameez: Paradise Punch & Sky's The Limit - oh so pretty!!!!
But the piece d'resistance is that incredible stencil work!
I  have used Paste-eez in Raspberry Sherbert & oh my,
it is just a dream to apply!
Goes on so smooth, and the vibrant colour is stunning!
Let's take a closer look at it......

Isn't it just the prettiest hue of raspberry?!!

These Shimmerz Paints colours are just a perfect combination with the new Bohemian Dream collection!
Truly a match made in heaven!

Be yourself colourfully...and Bravely!
Couldn't say it better myself!

Such a clean mixed media look, and yet full of dimension & vibrant colour - Love it!
Hope I have inspired you today!

*Did you know that if you place my name AMANDA in the comments section of your
Shimmerz Paints Store order you'll receive a free gift?!!*
So enjoy some free paint on me ;)

Shimmerz Paints: So So Pretty!!!!

Hi Creative Friends!

Welcome back for my second Shimmerz Paints Social Team project for September!
I am so in love with the intenisty and vibrancy of the Shimmerz Paints - SO good!!!
But rather than rave, let's allow my project to do all the talking!

Here's my fun Autumn layout,

"Fall"

Oh sigh! Isn't this just divine?!!
Such a beautiful photograph of my darling daughter!
I really felt inspired by the colours in this image, so that's what my layout is designed around today!
And if we're playing with colour, what could be more perfect than using Shimmerz Paints!

You'll spy a light layer of Acri-Tonez: 3 Sheets to the Wind as my alternative to gesso. It dries really smooth, and is perfect as a primer for your paper projects!
I then sprayed a lil Spritz: Sapphire into a dish, watered it down just a tad, and then applied with both a brush and the packaging technique.
Once dry, I added a few splatters and light spritz of Shimmeringz: Goldie Lox - love the subtly of this golden delight!
Last, but by no means least, I used a star stencil and applied Paste-eez: Puttin' On The Glitz for added dimension, sparkle and interest.
Such a simple mixed media background, and yet oh-so effective!
The scrapbook collection I have featured today is American Crafts: 1Canoe2 Creekside, and I am just loving those fussy cut roses!!!

Here's a few close ups for you.....

The glitz stars are such a delicate and subtle touch!
Here's another view of them....

Really sweet!
But it's the Sapphire Spritz that's the real delight....

That blue is just STUNNING!!! And can you believe that I watered it down?!!
Imagine how intense the colour pigment is! La La LOVE this colour!!!
I think it may be replacing Jeni B Bleu as my favorite Shimmerz Paints product!
Oh, and how pretty are the Goldie Lox droplets?!

SO much awesome going on here!
I hope you liked my layout and feel inspired to try the gorgeous Shimmerz Paints!
And you know what?
Because these products are so awesome,
I created a bonus layout for you today too!
(I know, right? They're truly that fun to play with!)

For my bonus layout, I am taking a completely different approach
and discovering how delicate and soft these amazing paints can be!
Here it is.....

"SO Pretty"

Oh swooooon! Pretty indeed!
So very delicate and divine!
A very feminine and girly page for my beautiful daughter!
For this layout, I have stashbusted my left over odds and ends from Pink Paislee's Paige Evans Oh My Heart collection, and drawn on a very soft and pretty colour combination.
You'll spy that STUNNING Dazzlerz: Tutti Frutti using a Peonies mask, as well as a lil watercolour work with Creameez: Sky's The Limit!
Don't they just look dreamy together?!!
Let's take a closer look.....

You can see why this paste is called 'Dazzlerz', just look at that shine!

To keep with my soft and feminine design, I blotted the Creameez to reduce the colour intensity.
But it's that Tutti Frutti that's the show stopper!
The shimmer is truly just sensational!

Beautiful!

I do hope you like my soft and very feminine look,
with these gorgeous products!

& REMEMBER: Use my name AMANDA in the comments section and you'll receive a free gift with your order too! YAY!!!
