Penguin Love

Woo Hoo it's Friday! Today's There She Goes blog hop showcases "Penguin Love". Penguins are showing up all over the crafting world and they are all so dang cute! These little guys are no exception! The set contains TONS of accessories to decorate your little penguin buddies along with some fun and witty sentiments! I couldn't decide which images to use so I made 2 cards to share with you today.

This first one uses some great new Cosmo Cricket paper to go along with my juggling penguin. (Yeah, I know, you probably haven't seen a brown penguin before but he had to match my DP!) I also used my new create a flake dies from Spellbinders. If you look closely at my little guy's scarf you will see that it is all fuzzy and sparkly (courtesy of some sparkle fluff). His snowballs are glitter domes by Mark Richards. I added more glitter at his feet and on the snowflakes too. (And in my hair and on my face and all over my craft room floor. . .)
This one uses 2 different tree images that I water colored and the ice berg. Again I added lots of glitter and some liquid applique' for a snowy winter scene. I found this blue satin and sheer ribbon in the clearance bin at Hobby Lobby. It has wired edges so it makes awesome bows! I dry embossed the background with a SU! folder.
Thanks for stopping by and now slide on over to see what Holly has created for you today (something fabulous I'm sure!) Don't forget to head back over to the There She Goes blog after you have left comments for all of the Trendsetters. Enter your name in the Mr Linky for a chance to win a Penguin Love set of your own!

New Mini sets

Hey there! Today's There She Goes blog hop features 2 new mini sets being released on Saturday! The first card I have to show you uses HSH Hanukkah Additions. This set works great with the Home Sweet Home set and also includes some larger images you can use as focal points.

I used the large Menorah and inked it up in Baja Breeze. I stamped it off once (it's hard to see in the photo so click on it to make it larger) and then heat embossed my sentiment in black over the top of it. I also added some glitter to the candle flames so it would stand out a little more. The rest is pretty straight forward. (But please ask if you have questions!)

This card uses the mini set "Stick Together". I have to admit that I totally ripped off this idea from the Holiday Cards issue of Papercrafts magazine. You will see on page 24 that Charlene's card looks very similar to mine! That's what happens when I need a little jump start to my mojo. I start looking through magazines, galleries and blogs to get ideas. I loved Charlene's card so much that I decided just to CASE it. I had bought this snowflake in a package of 6 from the dollar store last week so it was all meant to be! (I even used her color scheme). The sentiment is from the mini set and I attached it with a button and some silver cording. I love it! Thanks Charlene for the inspiration!

Since I feel like I totally cheated with the last card, I thought I better come up with another card to showcase "Stick Together". I used 2 of the snowflakes and the swirly thing to make my own DP. I added some tiny little gems to the sentiment (in the photo they look like glue blobs. . .) and cut it out with my nestabilities. Each layer is inked on the edges in white and is up on dimensionals so this card is quite thick, probably one I have to hand deliver!
Thanks for stopping by and now get a move on to Holly's blog to see her creations for today! Don't forget to comment on all of the Trendsetter's blogs and then go back to the There She Goes blog and enter your name in the Mr Linky for a chance to win your own mini sets! Tomorrow we will peek at the last set for this month and then there is a release party on Saturday night in the TSG forum.

Holiday Additions

Today the Trendsetters are featuring the new set Home Sweet Home Holiday Additions. Last month's Home Sweet Home set was such a hit that Jessica decided to create another set to go along with it! This set contains 42 stamps so you can create some fabulous holiday cards! For my card today I chose the large stocking as my focal point. I colored my stocking with my colored pencils and OMS. Then I added some glitter for some holiday sparkle! See those little "dots" in the corners? They are from Mark Richards and remind me of little snowballs! Recognize the layout? It's Jen's sketch for you to try.

Now don't forget to hop around to all of the Trendsetter's blogs and leave a comment! Then go back to the There She Goes blog to add your name in the Mr Linky for a chance to win your own HSH Holiday Additions set!

Thanks for stopping by! Jump over to Holly's blog for some more Holiday Additions goodness!

Card Box

It's release week for There She Goes! There are 2 new sets and 2 mini sets being released on Saturday and they are fabulous! Along with the fabulous new sets, Jessica brought back the ever popular card boxes! For my box I covered the sides, front and back with Cosmo Cricket's Everafter DP. I matted the DP with Dusty Durango from SU! Unfortunately, I spent all day yesterday creating and forgot to take my pictures until dark! (Urghh, I hate when that happens.) So I had a heck of a time fitting my card box into my light box and getting a good picture without the shadows. It really does look pretty :P! For the front of my box, I used the mini set Everyday Greetings stamped in dusty durango and going grey.

For the back of the box on the inside, I stamped one of the flowers from the Dream Big mini set in dusty durango and then I stamped off another flower and popped it up on top of the first. I used my oval nestabilities to cut it out and then stained it with antique linen for an aged look (and to match the DP). The ribbon is sheer ivory with a satin edge. I'm so excited about these boxes- right now I keep all of my cards in various (ugly) shoe boxes! Now hop along over to Holly's blog to see what she has in store for you today!

Thanks for stopping by! BTW, guess where we were last week?! (Just for you Kellet!)

The Wrapping

Today's challenge for the i {heart} papers Birthday Bash is to create a birthday themed box or bag. You can find all of the details and requirements for the challenge HERE. I chose this fun Sassafrass Lass paper from the Bungle Jungle collection to make 2 little bags.

I used the favor box die from SU! to cut out my little box. I was careful that my paper was facing the right way! (Ask my friend Laura about her Halloween boxes with the upside-down skulls on them!) Then I just added some double sided satin ribbon that I tied in a bow.

This one uses the top note die from SU! and a tiny little paper bag. I cut off the top of my bag and glued my top note die cut to the front. Then I used the border strip from the bottom of the DP and adhered it to the middle of my bag with a strip of ruffle edged ribbon. After tying my bow, I added a matching brad to the center along with some crinkled bag filler.
And here they are together. Aren't they cute?! We'd love to see what you create! Just upload your project to SCS or PCP using the keyword IHPBB4 and you just might win a prize!
Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Decorations

When you are hosting a party, you want to create an atmosphere of fun and excitement. Ribbons, streamers, table decorations and special party favors all set the stage for celebrating!

Our challenge for you today is to use IHP embellishments to dress up your card (scrapbook page, 3-D item, etc.), table decoration, or party favor. Remember, everything this week has to do with birthday celebrations...so be sure your creation is birthday related!

Before you begin, take a few minutes to review the challenge guidelines! You’ll want to follow these rules to maximize your points and qualify for the opportunity to WIN the prize for today’s challenge and the Grand Prize, all announced on the last day of our festivities!

To qualify for the prize of the day, all you have to do is upload your challenge card/project to Splitcoast Stampers (SCS) and/or Paper Craft Planet (PCP) with the appropriate tag so we can find it. Today’s challenge tag is IHPBB3. The daily challenge winners will be randomly selected at the end of the week.

To qualify for the Grand Prize of being IHP Guest Designer for the month of November, here’s how it will work: Every challenge card/project you enter will earn you points (see below), and one with the most accumulated for the week the Grand Prize winner. So the more challenges you enter, more points you earn — and the better your chances of winning the Grand Prize (and the bigger the value of your Guest Designer box will be)!

You will have until October 25th to post your work, and you can enter as many challenges as you like, but you CANNOT combine challenges in one project. All winners, including the Grand Prize winner, will be announced at the Birthday Bash on October 26th.

Birthday Bash Points

For each project:
5 points for each challenge card/project you make, upload and tag to SCS

For my party favors, I created a tin filled with DP covered chocolates! I used the MME paper pack "Ooh La La For Her" to cover my chocolates and then the die cut sheet from the same pack to decorate the tin. I also used my nestabilities and some cute little flower gems to complete my favor! My saying (how appropropriate) is from the Unity set Mix Up of Cuteness.

What is a party without cupcakes?! I made these cute pinwheel flowers from my small tag punch by SU! for my cupcake toppers. I added the dazzlers flowers in the middle for some sparkle. (My kids were just dying to eat these and kept asking when I was going to take the pictures!) I used the same DP by MME to coordinate with my party favor tin.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out what other great decorations and favors that Lesa has created for you today!

Birthday Bash Color Challenge

Today is the first day of the i {heart} papers Birthday Bash challenges! You can find all of the details to the week's challenges HERE. Today's challenge is to make a birthday themed card or project using the i {heart} papers logo colors of celery, rose, light blue and black. The "B" has pink brads, the "D" is dry embossed with a Quickutz embossing folder, the "A" has shimmerz paint on it (hard to see in the photo) and the "Y" has a glittery flower on it. My white background and the colored squares were also dry embossed with a Quickutz embossing folder. We'd love to see what you come up with for today's challenge! Upload your creation to SCS or PCP using the keyword IHPBB1 so we can find it and you just might win a prize!
