Hannah Kristina Metz SS15

Hi guys! Back from the dead to share my latest project. Sorry for the unceremonious departure, I have a number of drafted farewells that I never got around to posting but I could never commit myself to a real goodbye.

This first collection is a tribute to my favourite literary star crossed lovers Tristan and Iseult (specifically the Joseph Bedier pairing, it's absolutely necessary that they love each other because of the love potion you guys! It's so much more tragic!). Each piece is brought to life under the skilled workmanship of master tailors who hand-finish and hand-cut garments to minimize waste. My friend and production manager oversees a safe and humane workplace and works closely with our tailors to ensure quality. I hope you like it! I'm wearing my Iseult dress until it becomes one with my skin and I can no longer remove it.

Samantha Pleet Autumn/Winter 2013

Samantha Pleet is no stranger on this blog and, if you've not yet gathered, I can't sing her praises loud enough. Samantha and her husband and partner, Patrick, are two of a kind and their designs reflect so perfectly their sense of humor, adventure and their creativity. Their latest collection combines rigid architectural lines and flowing movement with garments fit for a Giselle or Ondine. I'm hoping to make that little velvet suit mine come round two of the cold months this year!

The Chloé Alphabet: M is for Music

Chloé is celebrating their 60th anniversary by sharing a letter by letter retrospective. They've chosen 26 bloggers to present a letter each and I've been so generously included in the batch.

I was assigned the letter M for Music which has served as an inspiration for the brand since it's inception. Gaby Aghion, Chloé's founder, named her designs after favourite musicians from Debussy to Dylan and garments have featured musical instruments and notes throughout the years.

Take a peek at the remaining letters for a look at Chloé's playful past here. I especially enjoyed watching the video about Gaby Aghion which you can watch here. For Parisian pals, check out the exhibition celebrating Chloé's 60 years at Palais de Tokyo.

Chloé was one of the first names I could rattle off as one I liked when I was wee one first discovering an interest in fashion. Their brand has always appeared youthful and sweet without being patronizingly so and their current collection is a perfect balance of elegance and playfulness, something I hope to capture in my own dressing. It was neat to discover a little more about the brand through this project!

Below you can watch a video of John Gosling and Seb Chew discuss their selection of music for Chloé's shows and hear a mix of their runway favourites here!

A favourite Chloé campaign. Those dresses, that hair!

1. Wearing Lunar Shadows skirt c/o  Nadinoo, purse from The Loved One and shoes from Marks and Spencers, hehe. 2. Lula's Nightbird Dress 3. Pixie's Bird A Day Blouse 4. Pixie's Bird A Day Blouse and Pixie's Trusty Pinafore 5. and onward, my own dingy old wears!

Prior to departing on my English dream trip I received a little English dream package from the beautiful Nadinoo collection. I ended up bringing the lot of it on my month long travels and wore it constantly and have continued to do so since my arrival home. Each piece is handmade and constructed gorgeously with luxurious silks and cottons. Buying gorgeous handmade attire is a closet investment worth making and one I urge you to consider when refreshing your seasonal wardrobe!

Nadinoo's full collection here!

Thank you Nadia for the gorgeous gifts!

Dolce & Gabbana

I think this might mark the first pure capital F fashion post on this blog since it's inception five years ago! Above are a handful of looks from the nauseatingly enchanting Renaissance inspired FW12 collection from Dolce and Gabbana. This collection has erupted in me the same emotional response that I remember having in highschool after seeing a Chanel presentation on Fashion TV (prompting me then to pick up a couple yards of tulle and start banging away on my mum's sewing machine for the first time). It has been that long since a show absolutely gutted me (Alexander McQueen shows aside). This is my favourite rooms of the Met and my textbook portraits of Tudor family members come to life. In my dreams where I have unlimited funds and skill this is what I sew for myself. This collection makes me want to cry and throw up.

See the whole glorious collection here.

Pictured with Jan Brueghel - Flowers in a Vase, Botticelli - Primavera, Quentyn Metsys - Elizabeth I & Nicholas Hilliard - Elizabeth I.

In other (related I think) news it is almost time again for The Borgias and Cesare's tight leather pants!

Inspired by: Patterns

Very inspired by these vintage pattern illustrations. The hair, the cuts, the styling, the patterns, THE SHOES. This is pretty much exactly how I envision my personal FW12 fashions. Dreamy.

The Libertine

I realize it's been ages since I made an inspiration post on here. (I think, since starting a Tumblr, this blog has been much more "own content" and erm, me related then it once was, for which I apologize.)

The Libertine is a silly movie from 1968 about an extraordinarily fashionable young widow exploring her sexuality (involves beetles, whips, chains, mud and piggy back rides). Every outfit in this movie is perfection (I had to watch it twice just to make sure the first time I wasn't being erroneously blown away due to a nyquil induced sleep happy state and also to screenshot like crazy) and the lead actress is a total bambi. Let's review!

The Libertine

This is the first outfit we see her in, it's her funeral attire. In this scene we learn that she's not exactly despondent at her husband's untimely death and is more interested in the funeral food spread. The collar/hat detail made my eyes bulge, too good! The dress was a little babydoll.

The Libertine

The Libertine

In this scene she discovers her husband's secret sex pad. She coincidentally matches sex pad. Usually I'm opposed to headwear resembling a newsboy cap but this hat/cape combo really does it for me.

The Libertine

After learning that her husband was into sexy things (that she was not involved in) she purchases a book on sexual psychology. This is just one of many lounge outfits she has. I too have lounge outfits but am clearly lacking in the hair accessory department. Need to start styling my hair to match my loungewear.

The Libertine

One of the first things she reads about is shoe fetishes, she imagines her tennis partner drinking out of a shoe. (She's wearing a really cute scalloped tennis outfit in this scene that I forgot to capture because I too was distracted by the shoe drinking.)

The Libertine

She invites the (imagined) shoe drinker back to the sexpartment and then takes off her false eyelashes ("What are you doing?" "Undressing") After they do "it" she changes into a glamorous dressing gown with a fur wrap. She then hops into an enormous closet and changes back into her pleated skirt and blouse. This scene moved too fast to screenshot but I did grab this shot of a shoe. Maybe I am the shoe drinker.

The Libertine

I can't remember what happens in this scene but I do know that it ends with her adding a lipstick question mark to the "men" sign. Look at that hat! Those gloves! That yellow. Oh man.

The Libertine

This hairstyle looks like dog ears and I like it. I think he does not.

(The rest after the cut because, boobs)
