Introducing K1t 487

Greetz one and all,

today I’m introducing a model I made last year, or rather in the last few years :)  It's one of those figurines you know has a lot of potential, but for some reason you just can't seem to drag it out.  I've worked on it several times but never got around to finishing the deal.

The model; is an old Rackham AT-45 walker (don't know the name).  I alway's wanted to turn it in to some kind of non combat thing a sort of npc so to say.

the paintjob: Hmmm, it's been a while, ... if I remember correct I used a lot of layers (bone and white colors)  some transfers for detailing and washes.  Sorry next time I'll try to write things down.

The rules:  The rules included here are for Shadow Wars Armageddon, but I'm considering using him in Necromunda as well :)

ohhh, and the scenario :)

Wip January

Greetings one and all,

In the past month I've been up to a lot of stuff, an nothing all at once.  I've almost finished my Rouge Trader for ItEn, worked some more on my grav car, and started working on my Archangels army.

The Archangels are the Blood Angels first company and my new 40k project.  Don't worry I'm not blowing off my ItEn stuff (although there is a chance I'll be using other rule sets as well).  As a matter of fact I’ve just joined the Ammobunker forum and it’s filled with cool Inq28 stuff, and I’ve created a pinterest account to gather all the cool idea’s I see on the net.  I’ll make a link on the side bar for that later on.

But back to my Archangels; as a lot of you probably did, I bought a box of dark vengeance.  I was planning on painting what was inside, just the way it was supposed to be.  A rather amities goal for me, not that I thought it was to hard to paint, but not converting all those models; now that’s a challenge.

And it seems I’ve lost that challenge.  Didn’t get the green I wanted to get, in the way I wanted to get it.  So out with the Dark Angels, but what now with the models…  I found someone that could use the tacticals, leaving me with bikes and terminators.  So this year I’ll gather all my terminators and start painting them.  As it turns out I’ve got quite a few more then I would have guessed :o)

Anyway, here are the first results; 2 apothecarys and 4 assault terminators. They’r not done yet, but there is progress :o)

Introducing Maximus 348

Greetz one and all,

today I’m introducing one of the models I painted up last month
In this case it's a tech-adapt for my mechanicus cult. one of the models I purchased at Crisis this year, and unlike last year's loot; this is getting painted :o)

The model; The original model is from Urban Mamoth (or a earlier version of the game) I added some scout legs, grenades and shotgun.  And finished off with some purity seals.

the paintjob: The red was done using the new Mephiston red on the old Merchadite red base colour.  The bronze is a very old Dwarf bronze with a Chesnutt ink.  And the white is rakarth flesh and skull white

The rules:  For my rules I used the stats for a Secutor and gave him Hellfire ammo (an old option from 2nd edition en RT; don't know if it still exists) counted 3pts for this (I think :o)

The Story: Maximus is one of the protectors of the Machine Master, He is manufactured M41.893 and has enhanced bionics and some enhanced bio mech customization.

Introducing specialist corporal sizdah

Greetz one and all,

Today I bring you yet another one of my ratling adventurers for ItEn (link) using the same frame as before.  As a matter of fact I did this model more then a year ago, I just now got around to pain thing him :)

The model: as I said before the same technique (link) was used as with the others (link) this time using a empire helmet, bretonian body, melta bomb, terminator codpiece, ig grenade launcher, some wire and a lot of green stuff.

The paint job: I used the same base colors as before but in a different shade to give it all a bit more personal feel.  As such I didn't record the used colors.  Important note on the white however; I loved dheneb stone, but it is no longer supported by gw.  So now I went for .... A good match I think.

The stats: the standard stats came from the ItEn book stormtroper, the special equipment are my imagination.  I hope my game buddies like 'em ;)

The story: Sizdah is one of Rippers Ratpack, and although there are only 12 members Sizdah wears the number 13 on his helmet.  Some say the number one is reserved for the Emperor himself, others belive Ripper doesn't want to call him self number one.  Sizdah doesn't realy mind bearing the cursed number, it seems to be one of those things that cross his life every once and a while; being recruted for the 13th company of Gomorak, born on the 13th and growing up in Habcontinent ... 13.

WIP November

Greetz one and all,

As usual there has been way to little hobby time in the last few week, well actually I've been using my hobby time as it was intended (I get a lot of painting time in after 23.00h) ... Sleeping ;o)

But I did manage to get some convertion work done here and there and started painting my next Iten model.

Unfortunatley my fantasy projects are on hold for the moment; but on hold does not mean forgotten ;o)

first up my Mechanicus Agent (I've got no idea of name; type or stats for now; but we'll see)
The white parts have to be re-done to black and the add-ons on the boots are goint metal (bronze)

Next some convertion work on the Dark Vengeance Librarian.  Going the other way around as October's Wip I've now brought a Dark Angel to my Blood Angel collection :o)

Introducing Master Hayro Caminant

Greetings fellow gamers,

As MonthyPython would say … “And now for somethingcompletely different …”   I’ve been thinking about a Mechanicus cult for some time now; and now the first model has made it off the paint table (it’s no problem to get on my desk; but to leave it had to be finished ;o)

The model:  The model is made from the forge world quarter master retinue  I just cut the model in 3 parts and patched up the cut here and there (but to be honest all in all that wasn’t that much work) I just didn't like the complete model way to big for skirmish games.  And although a great sculpt enough is enough (and as they say over here "Trop is teveel")

The painting: Master Hayro was painted in a red and black scheme (what would you expect for Mechanicus) with a blueish face. unfortunatley I didn't keep record of the colours I used; sorry.

The Game: The greatest problem in game terms was the lack of weapons; so Hayro is also some kind of psyker and uses a lighting bolt for which I used the rule of a bolter, and his normal electro charge

The Inquisitors thoughts: The Mechanicus Cult has often been of my assistance with contributions in the form of the FD3S RX-7.  My liaison within the  Tsarenka cluster is Master Hayro Caminant also responsible for the adaptations for LR568-3X Leman Russ.

Introducing; Petty Officer Aldo Crum

Greetings fellow gamers,

What another ItEn update already? Yes indeed, and I’m proud of it.  Not that I’m up to my old speed again, but we’re working on it.  Not that the kids are less active or don’t get to “enjoy” my company or attention, but little by little there is getting some routine in to it all.  So little by little I re-conker a bit of my old hobby time :o)  But enough with the nagging; on to the fun stuff of games and models …

The model:  Petty Officer Crum is made out of; you’ll never geuss, … an old goblin spearmen.  Much like the other halflings and Ratlings I’ve done in the past few years (Ripperhalfling witch hunterHalfling thughhalfling tutorial)
The other bits include a empire knight helmet, free company dagger arm, IG flamer, chaos and loyal bolter, ork pouches, IG pouches, plastic card and plastic rod. The armour is made with Greenstuff and plastic card; the helmet a cleaned up empire knight with plastic rod attached.  The only real down side to the modelling are the sleeves which are not identical (lost sight of those and only noticed while painting) and the gun arm which is slightly out of position/form (I camouflaged that with the ork pouches :o)

The painting: As usual I started out white, and based my colour choices on Ripper and Borson ‘cus this model is supposed to be in the same retinue.  I did get rid of the red after trying and some good advice from koen (for once I listened ;o)

The Game: For gameplay this model uses the stormtrooper stats. With a self made skill as infiltrate (deploy last out of sight; out of 6” of enemy models) to play test in our local games (but more on that later I hope :o)

The Inquisitors thoughts: Petty Officer Aldo Crum is part of Rippers Squad and deserved my respect during his daring entry while rescuing Nicolas Scribler from the drug smuggling Tzeench cult on Rolanthyr’s 2nd moon

introducing Taxanoma

Greetings fellow gamers,

Again an update of my Iten collection.  As I said in a previous post these day’s it’s all about the new use of old models.  Today’s model is no different; although I must admit with the model count on my back now; I seem to be buying some new stuff at a rather high rate ;o)

The model:  The model is made of some left overs from Koen and myself.  Koen traded a confrontation wolfen body with me a few years ago.  I never realy found a use for it, up until I was looking for a chaos counter part for Bubba  Now I need another one of these, ‘cus I’d like to do a khorne version aswell :o)

The painting: I started with a white under coat; I tried paining the other way around.  First the light colours, then the shadows.  It worked somewhat for the cloth, but the green was done using foundation green, then foundation with some bestial brown for the recesses and foundation with some sunburst for the high lights.  I found the colour a little to les nauseating, I was thinking of adding some purple or pink for contrast, but decided against it because I couldn’t see where.

The Game: In game terms this is a Ogryn Berserker with a Demon hide, Terrifying skill a Harlequins Kiss and Bionics.  These last two are counts as; I found the rules to be interesting for what I needed.

The Inquisitors thoughts: Taxanoma is a lesser demon of Nurgle I encounterd during my enquiry’s on the Devlan raids 896 M41. Since I banished him twice.

Introducing; Aspoxius

Greetings fellow gamers,

My Iten Collection is ever growing with my cards 0.2, me getting a lot of inspiration for new stuff and finding new uses for old models all the time.  Things seem to go well in my gaming closet.  With 4 kids in the house finding time to paint seems a bit rare, but I still get to steal a few hours every once and a while, thanks to my very understanding wife.

The model:  Today’s model is a Chaos Champion classic from the 90’s (I think) don’t know the sculptor.  As a classic I liked I decided not to change anything on it.

The painting: I started with a white undercoat and gave it a few inkt-layers, after which I did the iron, leather, brain and face.  As inkts I used devlan mud and thrakka green.  The metal was done with Tin Bitz, beaten copper and  a mix of devlan mud and badab black.  The brown was scorched brown and a mix with white.  The face was granite and tallaran flesh worked up with tallaran and white and a little wash of devlan mud.

The Game: In game terms I got creative with the gun making it a combination of a 2 handed axe and a big gun.  As big gun I used a Melta gun, a bit stronger then I wanted but the most appropriate I could find.

The Inquisitors thoughts: Aspoxius is one of my great adversaries, as a member of the Death Guard his allegiance lays with Nurgle; the rotting bastard.

introducing: ItEn cards

Greetz one and all,

This week I want to show you how I do my ItEn cards.  For those of you that don’t know it yet, ItEn is a skirmish game based on the 40k background but with a completely different system.  Besides being completely free it also gives a more free feel and way cool possibility’s.   But enough commercial time on to the cards.

I made my card with paint.net, also free download (man I should get paid for this) and made 4 layers; picture; lines; guidelines; and tekst. My first draft was a vertical version with a lot less details and a bigger picture.  Although I like the image more.

If you’d like to use my cards simply delete the bleu square and put the picture of you model there, the other information could be written on the card or you  can go as far as editing it in the picture. (I recommend writing it down first until you’re sure about what the model should be/do)
In the meantime I’ve also managed to get a flip side done, and if you don’t feel like photographing your mini’s you could also go for pictures from the net or some drawings perhaps.

Introducing; commissar Yelena Krakof

Greetings fellow gamers,

As you might know, over here I show 40k models I’m going to use for “In the Emperors name” a great game with a lot of options to use all sorts of 40k (inspired) models. I’ve already showed you my characters but my collection also includes a squat of Demiurge (squat of squat sounds rather dull doesn’t it ;o) and some Valhallans. I need to get to work on some Nurgle stuff to get some good and bad balance in my collection but that’s when we finish our battle table.

But on to today’s new girl… The model: The models is one of the left overs from one of those Golden Goblin Paint Challenges from a few years ago. I didn’t finish it at the time, but as so often when inspiration hit it was just a piece of cake.

The model is based on Free booters pirate queen by Werner Klocke added some green stuff and a dwarven pistol as archeo-tech plasma pistol. The painting: well now that’s some time ago so I’m not sure what I did exactly, I do know I used some resin for the base :o).

The Game: She counts as a commissar for guard regiments

The Inquisitors thoughts: Yelena was in charge of the 317th Tallons regiment known as Star keepers until the civil conflict at Tsarenka broke out, when she returned to her home world to lead the defence on Tsarenka Prime.

Introducing; Inquisitor lord Videl Marcos del Burgos

Greetings fellow gamers,

The last few weeks have been way to busy with the wedding, the club adding a new project in (with a real tight deadline) and work swelling up.  Luckily I’ve got a case full of models; which I can recycle every once and a while.  I’ve actually got quite a few ItEn models lined up for the next few month’s :o)

The model: Again I come with a model from a few years ago.  This model was originally done for one of the Goblin Paint challenges, and was the start of my (never to get finished) Inquisitor army.  I’m still satisfied with the paint job, should do a re-basing to get it tied in, and hope I’ll get to that
The painting: paint job from a few years ago, the only specific I remember is that I used bronzed flesh as a base for the white :o)
The Game: These will use him as an Inquisitor (dhu hu) for In the Emperors name.  I’m working on cards for that, hope to include them next month.
The Inquisitors thoughts: Although I don’t like working with the Ordo Hereticus Lord Marcos has become a personal friend and ally.  Lord Marcos was working a witch cult on Burgos, a small Hive world in the vicinity of Dolumar, when we met up.  I was looking for the two Demon sisters Helegra and Urfran, who as it turned out where behind the Dolumar Cult as well.  Together we cleansed the universe from there influence.

Introducing Kaptain Vladimir Vortchof

Greetings one and all,

I didn’t really get to posting my progress last weekend.  With a birthday girl in the house and the marriage of one of my table top buddy’s  it was busy indeed.  I did get the chance to paint another of my Dreadnoughts (which brings the count to 5 for now ;o) The model I’m introducing today was painted a few weeks ago, still got to do the basing but that will be for some time later on.

The model: I used an old kislev winged lancer and high elf archer legs.
The painting: nothing to fancy but no dipping this time ;o)
The Game: I will use him either as a guard captain or a merc.  He’s got carapace armour grenade laspistol and sword/knife.
The Inquisitors thoughts: Kaptain Vladimir Vortchof was commanding officer of the palace guard during the revolt on Tsarenka Prime.  Kaptain Vortchof was responsible for the safety of the governor.  He caught the eye of the Inquisition during the evacuation at Moskurva hive.

Ps; I did my first game of ItEn (1st ed) and had a lot of fun.  The rules are made for a nice game, not for a big balanced battle.  It can easily be exploited, but let’s not do that.  In my personal opinion this is a great game for fun battles under friends.

Black Box Revelation; Grey Knights

Greetz one and all,
This month’s Black Box revelation isn’t from the Black Box itself but I just couldn’t resist. All those shiny marines; I just had to buy me one. So I bought me a box of grey knight marines, actually so I can use the bits in all sorts of Inquisitor projects and for my blood angels. One never has enough marine bits ;o). Having seen the bit list in the WD I knew what I was buying, they should do this for all there sets. I chose the marines above the Terminators ‘cus I can use almost all bits in the marine set while the Termi upper torso is to specific to integrate in other models without extensive converting. But on to the review

The box holds a lot of bits, enough to make 5 Grey Knights in power armor and have some left for other projects. As with a lot of the new plastics this kit also has the paired arms, not all of them, but a lot. For once I like the stiky plans. I love the old way of just cutting out all the pieces and puzzle later, but with the newer kits I wouldn’t advice that. If you plan on using this kit, like me, for other marines and need the stash the bits for a while, don’t just cut them from the sprue. Keep the paired arms together, it will save you a lot of trouble later on.

The models have some nice sharp detailing and lots of extra weapon options. I recommend paint after assembling specially for paired arms. I had a afoul time putting both arms on the correct place without sticking my fingers to the model as well. If you run in to that kind of trouble on a painted model all is lost ;o).
All in all, a nice kit, a bit expensive for plug and play, but if you are one of those creative gamers with some marine left overs you can easily get 10 Grey Knights out of this box. I like the bits and loved painting this one (although I could have used some more sleep instead :o)

PS: I used a Dark Angel backpack and Blood Angel head.

Introducing; Mudocks Mutants

Greetings fellow gamers,

I’ve been looking around in my figure case, and found these models from a couple of years ago. Around the time when I started with this blog. The paint job is not the best ever but good enough for my Inq Munda stuff. And so they join the collection.

The model: The models I used are some old OOP orks with new genestealer bits and chaos mutation sprue, and a necrarch Vampire with a celestial wizards head.
The painting: Like I said nothing to fancy, this were my first diped models.
The Game: These will be used as Hybrids rule wise we’re still not playing so who cares ;o)
The Inquisitors thoughts: Murdock and his mutants; We found them below Hive Heraldus on Claxton IV about 15 years ago. It was quite a hunt exterminating the lot, we had to burn trough levels 04 to 16
