It's a colour challenge!

Good morning!  It's challenge time again at DZ Doodles.  Be sure to check it out....there's another freebie image, and the DT creations are adorable.  This time, we need to see the colours blue, yellow and white.

Well, what do you think of this little sweetie?   She's the freebie this week!  I've coloured her with Promarkers and prisma pencils.  The embossed card blank has been sponged with DI, and a few layers have been added behind the image.

The fancy corner pieces are from my latest purchase from Wild Orchid Crafts, and a few added flowers give it that little extra colour.  For a bit of sparkle, I've added some clear stickles to both the flowers and the bows on the image.  Nice and bright and sunny, even though it's raining......we really need that, as it has been raining far too much over here!

Tools used:  Fiskar's corner punch, Nestibilities Labels 18 die

A few fun challenges:

Emerald Faeries - Anything Goes First Challenge
Aud Sentiments - #28 No Sentiment

Sketch Challenge at DZ Doodles

Good morning!  Hopefully life is treating you kindly, and you can find some crafty time for yourself.  This week's challenge at DZ Doodles once again comes with an adorable free image, and also the opportunity to be a Guest Designer.  So, head on over, and also check out the lovely creations from the rest of the design team....there's lots of inspiration to be found!

As you will notice, I've switched the sketch around a bit, and I've also used a different image from the one that is offered this week.  This one is called Floral Butterfly Teapot, and as I collect teapots, it's definitely a favourite of mine!

I've coloured with Prismas and OMS, and I've used my new Nestie die,  Labels 18.  Stickles have been used to accent the butterfly, and glitter pen has been used to highlight the edges.

I hope you enjoyed your visit, and I thank you for your comments as they are very much appreciated.  Some other challenges are listed below that provide some additional inspiration.  Have fun!

Black and White, and One Other Colour

Guess what?  I think it's spring!  The weather finally shows promise, and the tulips are popping up.  I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks for visiting today, and hopefully you can join in with the next challenge at DZ Doodles.  The DT,  has some fabulous creations to share, and once again, there's a free image up for grabs.  But it's only available for a limited time.

Now, how about Guess Who?, this adorable little stamp from DZ Doodles.  Do you remember playing this with your friends?  Boy, that's really going back!  lol  Going with the challenge theme, black & white & one other colour, I've made these bookmarks for my granddaughter.  Her family is moving at the end of this month...closer to us Hooray!!   As she's going to be having a little party, she'll be able to give these to her friends as a keepsake.

I've kept the design simple, so hopefully they will stand the test of time.  We don't want them falling apart, but we would like them to be used.  Just black cardstock and one sheet of polka dot DP.  I've used a Nestie die and partially cut around the image.  A MS punch gives a bit of excitement to the bottom edge.  The DP is also used on the back of the bookmark, to cover the folded corners.

Let's Get Sketchy at DZ Doodles

Good morning everyone!  It's challenge time again at DZ Doodles, and this week we have a great sketch from Rosalien, and an adorable freebie image.  I've used them both to make a Mother's Day card, but it really could be for any occasion.  Doesn't it just shout 'Spring'!

You'll note that this time I've gone with black and white, adding some embossing swirls to the two black panels.  Behind the image I've used a piece of glossy black cardstock, which really makes the image pop.  The image itself is coloured with Prismas, and the background has been sponged with DI.  For embellishments, just a pearl in each corner, a little bow, and a bit of greenery and flowers, leaving the image as the focal point.

So what are you waiting for?  Head on over to the challenge blog for the freebie and get started on your entry today.  And be sure to check out the awesome creations made by the rest of the design team too!  Enjoy

Spring Inspiration Challenge at DZ Doodles

Welcome back!  It's Wednesday, and time for another challenge at DZ Doodles,  Lots of inspiration from my teamies today, and a beautiful freebie image to get you started on your cards for spring.  Oh, and before I forget, there is also an announcement.....changes to the rules and an opportunity for a Guest Designer spot!

Now for my little project using this week's image.  Well, what do you think?  Instead of a card, I've made one of the corner bookmarks I've been seeing on a number of blogs.  I am pleased to say, it was soooo easy to make...and practical too!   I might just have to try it out....

This time I've worked with Pro-Markers by Letraset, using my Prisma pencils for a bit of added shading.  The papers are all from my scrap box, and as you can see, I've used my Nestie die to frame the image and my MS punch for a bit of lace border.

There are a number of tutorials on the web showing how to make these bookmarks, but if you have any questions just leave me a comment.   Now.....I think I will go find a good book....

Thanks for stopping by, and I do hope you will enter our challenge this week at DZ Doodles.  So head on over and check it out.....we would love to see your creative talents too!

You can use any DZDoodles image for the challenge, but we do need to see that you've followed the sketch.

As you can see, I've kept it rather simple, colouring with Prismas, adding some faux stitching, some distress inks and using eyelets to attach the image.  The flower and leaves are from Fred She Said, coloured to go with my papers.

A Purse-O-nal Wish and a Blog Hop

It's that time again....for a mini Blog Hop at DZ Doodles.  We do hope you will play along with us this month, checking out the DT's creations and having a peek at some of Diane's new images.  As you will see, the theme this time is Purse-O-nal.....  I think we all love our purses, whether they be a fashion statement or just something to hold all those things we need...or not!

I've played in Photo Shop this time, working with the one Pocket Purse image but using it three times.  I've also added some silver heat embossing and sponged with blue distress inks, after cutting the Nestie shape.  The flowered DP behind the image has been punched along the edges with a MS punch, and a fine ivory ribbon has been threaded through.

So, for the mini blog hop, your next stop will be JuelMarie.   Make sure you leave a comment at each stop for your chance to win 3 of the lovely purse images or sentiments.  Full details can be found on the home blog here.

You're the Bestest!

Good morning friends and fellow bloggers.  Just because Valentine's Day is past doesn't mean that we can't use hearts on our cards, but it does mean that we are getting closer to spring.  We can just hope that Mother Nature is in agreement!

Today's card is for the new challenge at DZ Doodles, and this week it is a sketch challenge.

This lovely sketch from Valerie is nice and easy to work with, so I do hope you will give it a try.  Maybe you will be the lucky person to win one of Diane's new images.  There are lots of new ones for you to choose from in the store.

This time around I have used the Flowerd Heart image, colouring with both markers and Prismas.  The card blank is a new purchase from Michael's.....already embossed!   It just needed to be sponged with distress inks to highlite the pattern.  I've also made good use of some gold peel-off stickers for the embellishments.  They've been in my stash for ages, but I forget to use them....

Sweet Treats in a Candy Box

Can you believe it is now February!  The time seems to be going by so fast....until I look outside and see the snow, which of course seems to have been here forever!  We don't really have that much, it's just that I have been waiting for spring since November!

So how about this little project...does it not remind you of sunny days and warmer weather?  Maybe I just need to stop making winter cards, and then Mother Nature will take the hint.

The template for this candy box is a freebie for the month of February at DZ Doodles, and today is the start of their new challenge.  It would be perfect for a few Valentine treats, and you have until February 16th to try your hand at the challenge.  Maybe you can win one of Diane's adorable images!

I've used the Fluttering Threesome digi, a gorgeous set of 3 butterfly images that you can find here,

I've made the box from a heavy weight, double sided DP, only adding a few ribbons and trim, as the butterflies are really my embellishment.

An Altered Notebook ...A New Challenge

The saying goes, there is a first time for everything, and this was definitely a first for me!  Today is the start of a new challenge at DZ Doodles, and this time we were to create something for our desk.....well, you haven't seen my desk!

I've chosen to alter a rather large hardcover notebook, something that I can't lose in the clutter, but which may help me to be better organized.  I will begin by stamping and recording all of those stamps that are hidden away in drawers!  Later I will add some examples of my punches and die cuts.   There are so many tools and stamps that never see the light of day.....because I forget all about them!  Does this sound familiar? LOL.

The image I've chosen is Chloe, a definite favourite of mine which brings back memories of sweet little girls and dress up time....   This time, while copics have been used for the skin tones, I've coloured with Tombow markers and my water brush, adding a bit of shading with Prismas.  The papers once again are all from my stash...

Other Supplies Used:
Tools - MS punch, Nestie Die, embossing folder (dots)
Other - book purchased from Staples, Fred She Said flowers, gems, ribbon, feather,

Be sure to check out the challenge this week, and all the amazing creations from the rest of the design team.....and there may be a freebie for you too!  So, why not give it a try....we would love to see what you can do too!

I Love Santa....DZ Doodles Blog Hop

Welcome, and thanks for visiting!  With only 8 more days to go until Christmas, take a breather and relax with a Blog Hop at DZ Doodles.  Today is release day for six new winter images, perfect for those last minute cards and gift items, and they can be purchased here!

If you've arrived here from the talented Jen's blog, you're right on track.....otherwise be sure to hop back here to the beginning.

Today, I've used the I Love Santa image...easy to colour and perfect for the young at heart!   This time, I have cut around the image, layering over two different shaped circles.  Each of these layers is attached with pop-dots to give added dimension.

For my layout I have followed the sketch at Waltzing Mouse Sketch Challenge, using only one piece of DP and adding a silver embossed stamp to the top of a white card.  Just a few snowflakes with gem centres, some peel-off border and glitter make it complete.

Next on the hop is JuelMarie and I'm sure she has a wonderful surprise for you!

I've included the blog list below, and remember to leave a comment at each stop for your chance to win THREE of the new release images of your choice!!!

Giving a....Holiday Break

I think it is about time that I started wrapping some gifts, so instead of a card, I'm going with a gift bag today!

This is my DT submission for the new sketch challenge over at DZ Doodles.  For more details and a free digi image, be sure to check them out at either SNR or PCP.

This sketch, by Rosalien, worked out well for my gift bag, and I've made good use of the large circle by embossing and then inking with distress inks.  I've given it a turn, using MS punches to create the centre panel, adding a gold peel-off and then some red ribbon.

The bag was purchased from Michaels, while the DP came from my stash drawer, (the contents never seem to go down....I must be visited by elves while I sleep!) with some stamping for a bit of added interest.

Now to the image....Holiday Break, a new DZ Doodle image that can be found here in their store.   For some, this may be hot chocolate, but for me...cafe mocha with whipped cream....mmm good!!  I've coloured and shaded with Prisma's, using Tombow markers on the red ribbon.  Cut out with a Nestie die, then sponged with distress ink, it's then attached with pop dots for a bit of extra dimension.

So, now it's time to get cracking....I mean wrapping.  I haven't noticed any elves around for that job....

Thanks once again for visiting and your kind comments, and here are a few challenges that I'll be entering:

DZ Doodles Blog Hop......Angels

Well today's the big day at DZ Doodles....where we are celebrating with a Blog Hop for the new design release!!!

During the hop you will have the chance to see the lovely new Angels images, and by leaving a comment at each stop you may just win one of these gorgeous stamps....your choice!

If you've arrived here from the DZ Doodle's blog you are going the right way, otherwise pop back over there, as that is the start of the hop.

My card uses the delightful Candy Cane Angel, and I've chosen the non-traditional colours of mauve and cream.  The image is coloured and shaded with Prismas, with different coloured stickles for her wings and candy cane, so there is plenty of sparkle!  I've cut around the image in a circle, leaving her feet and part of her wing extended.  A bit of distress ink finishes the background and also highlights the die cut mat.

Supplies used:
Paper:  Cosmo Cricket, Winter Mittens paper pad
Tools: Martha Stewart punches, Nestibilities Die
Embellishments:  Stickles, gems, piece of organza ribbon

Thanks so much for visiting, and now its time to hop along to the next stop.
