Danny Wilcox Frazier put out a book on photographs he took documenting my stomping grounds of Iowa. He did an amazing job on the book and one of my good friends Chris helped him out with this documentary about the book. I got to see him speak about it when it came out and it was very inspiring. I grew up on a farm, and not that I ever really did too much farm work, it still holds a place in my heart. I think the video's paint a pretty good picture of Iowa,a complicatedly simple life. It's funny, when your younger and all there is to do is play in the field, go fishing, swimming and maybe steal your parents beer, you can't wait to leave. Then as you get older all you want to do is go back to that field to play, fish, and drink some more beer. Either way, watch the videos, they are rather inspiring. Cross For Sale
I'm selling this bike. Cheap. It'll be hard to let go, but I thought I'd offer it up locally before i put it up on the world wide wow.
Hand built steel, cool mix of parts (some new, some not), fender friendly, raceable, rideable.
60cm or so.
Direct all your questions, test-ride requests, photo requests, or friendly visits to me through the comments.
Why does it have to go?
Making room for the future, i guess.

El Norte (west)
Went to stay with Annie in Portland and randomly called up Slaven a day ahead of time.
He magically located a sweet ride for the entirity of my visit (one of his work buddy's Trek Pilot—a relaxed northwest-specific trainer w/clearance for fenders) for my visit and then dragged me around the area hills for two days. Matt's doing great and sends his hellos and howyadoins back to all the Lincoln folks.
He's working for Portland's Bike Gallery managing all the inventory between their seven locations and racing a ton. I guess you can race 7 days a week in and around Portland if you feel like it. Makes everyone out there pretty fast—Slaven included.
Thanks again, Matt. Awesome town goin' down.

So it goes

Kurt Vonnegut Jr., author of Slaughterhouse-Five, Breakfast of Champions, and Cat's Cradle died Wednesday from complications related to a recent head injury he sustained in a fall. He was 84.
Vonnegut was a student, a soldier, a newspaper reporter, a Saab salesman, a funny pessimist, and an angry comic. His last book A Man Without a Country was published in 2005 and is filled with the kind of off-the-cuff shit that connects him more solidly to our world of a zillion counter cultures than anyone before, and certainly anyone after.
And so it goes.

Escapists
Went to
Cream City last weekend. Good times, forever.
Thanks for the hospitality, guys. We'll come visit again soon. Jeff had a big hand in the design and construction of the park. He's got a couple tricks up at the end of the video clip on the Cream City site.
