And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness
and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8)

Peace of God

Welcome to the last day of Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Feature Blog Hops for the month of August!  Today we're featuring two great sets in a new series of large inspirational sentiments perfect for sending encouragement to friends and family members experiencing life's trials.  The thoughts expressed in these two stamps assure us that God is in control and He will see us safely through the storm!
Todays features are:
  • Stamp set includes 1 sentiment
  • Set measures approximately 3" x 4"
  • The image measures approximately 2 1/2" x 3 3/8"
  • Designed by Korin Sutherland
  • Stamp set is priced at $9

  • Stamp set includes 1 sentiment
  • Set measures approximately 3" x 4"
  • The image measures approximately 2 1/2" x 3 3/8"
  • Designed by Korin Sutherland
  • Stamp set is priced at $9

Here is my card made with His Peace:
Creative Nugget:  It has been a long week and I found my mojo waning until I saw the Color Challenge on Splitcoaststampers yesterday.  Melon Mambo, Old Olive, and Daffodil Delight are such pretty, bright colors, and hopefully they will bring cheer and encouragement to the recipient!  The sentiment was stamped on Solar Crest card stock with Olympia Green Versafine ink, cut with a Rectangle Nestie, and stitched to Daffodil Delight.  The card base was made from two Resplendent Rectangle Dies.  One was scored 1/2" from the top and sticky tape applied above the score line.  The other die was matched and adhered to make the card front.  The two little birds from Prim Blessings were colored with Copic Markers, cut out, and popped up under the sentiment along with a Cheery Lynn flourish and some punched flowers.  My favorite embellishment...pearls, were added to complete the card.

Here is my card made with Calms His Child:
Creative Nugget:  The sentiment was stamped on Vintage Cream card stock with Blue Lagoon Ink, cut with a Rectangle Nestie, and matted in Not Quite Navy.  Soft Sky card stock and old DP scraps were cut with the Wave Die and run through the Big Shot with the Swirls embossing Folder by ProvoCraft to create the stormy sea. Several Cloud Dies were stamped in Soft Sky ink using the Head in the Clouds stamp set.  The Raindrop Dies were given a coat of Star Dust Stickles and some twine was added to complete this monochromatic card.

Today's Features are:
Delightful Doilies and Faith

  • The image measures approximately 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
  • Designed by Dina Kowal
  • Stamp set is priced at $26
  • Stamp set includes 7 sentiments
  • Set measures approximately 4" x 4"
  • Martin Luther quote measures approximately 1 3/4" x 1 1/8"
  • Designed by Korin Sutherland
  • Stamp set is priced at $11

My sample uses both Delightful Doilies and Faith.
Creative Nugget:  The inspiration for my card came from Jeanne (aka akeptlife), todays Featured Stamper on Splitcoaststampers.  I CASEd her Dollface Red card and turned it into Turquoise Doilies. The doily image was stamped in a pattern with Tempting Turquoise ink on a Solar Crest panel.  A strip of retired SU! designer paper and a turquoise Doily Border were added to the left side of the card.  This panel was matted in True Black and attached to a Solar Crest card base.  The sentiment was cut with a Twisted Metal tag die from Spellbinders.  A dyed seam binding bow and black Twinkle Goosebumps finish the card.  This card is rather CAS for me and came together very quickly.

Here is a sample I've made with His Child using the sketch from today's Sketch Challenge 431 on Splitcoaststampers:

Creative Nugget:  I love how quickly a card can come together when you begin with a sketch!  The background panel was made with two different papers from the a lilybeedesign paper pad and the fence from the Fence and Grass Die Set.  A cloud stencil was used to sponge the clouds on the blue paper.  A little sponging was done on the Rectangle Nestie while the panel was left in the die.  The adorable silhouette image was stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink.  The grass was added with some Copic Markers and a Gelly Roll Pen.  The sentiment was stamped and the curve was hand cut using the contours of the words.  A few birds from the Nature Silhouettes clear stamp set and black pearls were added to finish the card.

Here's another card using the Chalkboard Technique:

This week's challenge is:
To use something new and something old

To make the challenge even more fun, we will be giving out a PRIZE... a $15 gift certificate to be used toward stamps at the Our Daily Bread Designs Store!!  Entries for the prize must be submitted by Sunday, January 14th at 8 p.m. EST.  One random winner will be chosen and announced next Saturday.

While it is not required to use Our Daily Bread Designs images and sentiments on your creations, we would love to see them if you have them. As a way of recognizing those who do use Our Daily Bread Designs stamps, we will again be choosing three or more of our participants for the Shining the Light Award. In order to qualify for this award or join the challenge however, you must use Our Daily Bread stamps and have your submission added to Mr. Linky by Sunday,  January 13th at 8 p.m. EST.  If you upload your creations to Splitcoast Stampers or any other online gallery, please use the keyword is ODBDSLC137.  When creating your posts on blogs please include a link to the challenge.

Creative Nugget:  To begin making this card, I used my new Snowflake Dies to cut three different snowflakes from some Pure Luxury card stock.  Two more snowflakes were stamped on this panel using my new Sparkling Snowflakes stamp set and Summer Sky ink. This panel was then lightly taped to another piece of card stock the same size and the three matching snowflakes were stamped through the die cuts.  The top panel was then embossed with my old Swiss Dots embossing folder.  The sentiment from my new Snowflake Sentiments stamp set was stamped and cut with an old rectangle nestie and mounted on an old Romantic Rectangle die cut from Brocade Blue card stock.  An old Fanciful Flourish die cut, a new stamped snowflake die, some twine, and rhinestones finish the card.

Take time to stop in to see more fabulous inspiration from the other Challenge Team members!

Cathy McCauley <--- You are here!
Korin Sutherland

My first sample is from the beautiful new set, "Sheltering Cherry Blossom."  It contains one cherry blossom branch and seven sentiments perfect for sending words of comfort to a hurting friend.

Creative Nugget:  This first card is actually a CASE of a card done by Loll Thompson from when she was the Featured Stamper on Splitcoaststampers.  I loved the CAS design. The sentiment was stamped on the front first.  Then the card base was sent through the Big Shot with the Canvas Impression Plate by PTI.  The strip of patterned paper from the Serenity Collection paper pad by Bo Bunny was added next.  Finally the Sheltering Cherry Blossom was stamped three times and different parts of the branch were cut with a square nestie.  The images were colored with copics and sponged, then popped up on the DP strip with Dimensionals...nice and easy!

Here's a second card from the same set.

Creative Nugget:  The patterned paper used on this card is also from the Serenity Collections paper pad by Bo Bunny.  The patterns and colors are just perfect for the "Sheltering Cherry Blossom" clear stamp set.  Some of the layers were matted with True Black card stock.  A Fiskars border punch was used under the horizontal panel.  The layers were mounted on Select White card stock and then to a True Black card base.  Stitching was added across the banner and on the horizontal strip.  The cherry blossom branch was stamped repeatedly on a square piece of Neenah Solar White card stock and the two opposite corners were rounded. Copics were used to color the image, and the panel was sponged a little before popping it up on the card.  Some extra blossoms were cut out and popped up as well for some dimension.  The centers of each blossom were dotted with a White Signo Gel Pen.

My final sample is from "The Sea," a gorgeous set with one image and five wonderful verses.

Creative Nugget: To begin this card, the bottom of a rectangle piece of Pure Luxury card stock was masked. Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, and Fired Brick Distress Inks were sponged on the top to create the sunrise.  The top was then masked while Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire, and Shabby Shutters Distress inks were sponged on the bottom for the ocean.  The image was then stamped using Versafine Black Onyx Ink.  A White Signo Gel Pen was used to create the foam on the top of some of the waves.  This was then cut with a rectangle nestie.  Some scraps of patterned paper, a Fiskars border, and True Black card stock were mounted on a piece of Pure Luxury card stock embossed with a CB folder.  This was then mounted to a True Black card base. The sentiment and one of the new decorative elements from the new "Decorative Frame Toppers" clear stamp set were stamped on some sponged card stock and cut with a Spellbinders Label Die.  Some black pearls finish the card.

Now head on over to see some more fabulous eye candy by Jessica Flick!

How's that wish list coming along?  Hope to see you over at SCS later today for some more stamping fun!

Have a fun-filled and blessed day!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

God's Purpose

Hope you have had a wonderful week, my friends!  What a busy week it has been!  Sweet and Sassy Stamps is celebrating their 4th birthday this month with lots of special surprises, so if you get a chance...head on over to SNSS for a glimpse of all that's happening!  This past Thursday, six new clear stamp sets, several digis, and three die sets were released.  I used one of the new clear stamp sets, "God's Purpose," for my Sweet Stop sketch sample for this week!

Creative Nugget:  After doing a Google search for chickadee images, I colored this sweet little chickadee with copic markers.  Highlights were added with a white poster-paint pen and Glossy Accents was added to the berries.  The image was cut with a square nestie and mounted on a labels one die cut.  Porcelain DP by Basic Grey was used for the panel pieces on the sketch.  Everything was mounted on a Sweet Blush panel textured with my favorite canvas impression plate.  The scripture verse stamped on the bottom, also one of my favorites, is one of five sentiments included in this stamp set.  All panels were adhered to a True Black card base.  Some Baker's Twine and black pearls were added to complete the card.  This card will be used for the Encouragement Ministry at my church...hopefully to bring comfort to the recipient.

Check out what the other talented Sugar Babies at The Sweet Stop have done this week, then head on over to SNSS.  I'm sure you'll find something new to add to your wish list!

Count Your Blessings!

I am reminded of that song that says...Count your many blessings...Name them one by one!  When we stop to consider all of our blessings...family, friends, God's provision, and even the refreshing weather we've had this week, we can feel truly grateful.  As wonderful as these things are...and they are wonderful, I feel most blessed to be able to get into the presence of God!

Inspirational Nugget:  There was such a sweet presence of the Spirit of the Lord in our church service last night.  Our pastor preached from Genesis 32 where Jacob, the deceiver, the trickster, the heel-grabber, found himself alone and had an all night wrestling match with the angel of the Lord.  As morning approached he was touched in the hollow of his thigh and he became lame.  Jacob came to the end of himself...to the end of his strength.  All his planning and conniving and manipulating came to naught.  All he was able to do was to hold onto the angel of the Lord, and he would not let go until he was blessed.  As he submitted to the Lord, his life was changed;  his name was changed from Jacob, the trickster...to Israel, blessed of the Lord, accepted by God!  Sometimes in this life, all you can do is hold onto the Lord.  Get a hold of Him and don't let go until you receive the blessing...not things...but the peace of God!  If you're feeling that all of your plans are not working out, things are looking grim, hold onto God, submit to His will, and don't let go until you receive the blessing...the favor of God...His acceptance.  Your circumstances may not change, but you will have peace.  Now that's a blessing you can count on!

Creative Nugget:  Yesterday Penny Allen (Pawallen142) was the featured stamper over at Splitcoaststampers.  Check out her wonderful gallery.  I chose to CASE her Flower Fest card.
I kept the same layout, random stamping, and a popped up image. I changed the colors, changed the flowers to leaves, and added a button, twine, and a sentiment. I haven't used a Kaleidacolor pad in ages and decided to stamp the leaves with the Late November pad. After stamping the leaves, a wood grain impression plate was used to give texture to the panel.  The sentiment, pierced and mounted on a blossom die cut, is from the brand new Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps sentiment set, Many Thanks, being released tonight!  Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps is now a member company over at SCS!  Yea!  So come join us for the August release party tonight at 8:00 PM over at the Sweet 'n Sassy forum on SCS!  Hope to see you there!  Thanks for stopping by and have a truly blessed day!

Hugs,
Cathymac
