And she's here!

It was a swift delivery. Baby Kaitlyn made her debut last night, within two hours of mommy and daddy arriving at the hospital!

Meet Kaitlyn
Aug 08 iv 324Aug 08 iv 378
born Aug 13, at 10.29 pm

Aug 08 iv 269Measuring 20 inches, and...

Weighing in at 3.162 kg , or 6lb 15.5 oz (just 0.5 oz short of 7 lb!), she may not be as big as her 8lb+ brothers at birth, but just as huge a bundle of joy!

Lil Kaitlyn waves a BIG HI! to everyone...
Aug 08 iv 327

And mommy says:
Thanks so much for your support, it means so much to us! In these last couple of weeks especially, hardly a day went by without someone reminding us we're being thought of, prayed for... we feel so loved, so blessed!

Praise God from whom all blessings flow, and His richest blessings be with you and yours!

Right after the delivery...
Aug 08 iv 151Aug 08 iv 160
... and the good hands we were in! And Vern and me, relieved our little girl didn't take her own sweet time with the labour.

Today...
Aug 08 iv 288Aug 08 iv 317
Ben and Jon come in their "I'm the Big/Bigger Brother" t-shirts, excited to see their sister for the very first time! (I'd used iron-ons for their tees, and also got them books as presents -- supposedly from baby to them).

Jon draws a picture of Kaitlyn...
Aug 08 iv 319Aug 08 iv 322
... when "she's only half a day old"!

And isn't that pink ribbon a pretty touch on the hospital's part? Vern asked if boys get blue ribbons... hahaha!

(For the record, these aren't my regular PJ's... but this is the only time it's cool for me to be seen in them)! ;p

New beginnings...
Kaitlyn and I go home tomorrow. My sis -- what'll we do without her already here? -- leaves in a week. And then, my MIL will come when the boys have just resumed school.

With the changes to our schedules -- the new baby and me the tired mommy, summer almost ending and having to get the boys into school mode again, Vern and his pressing deadlines, and MIL will need her rest also because of the jet lag -- I pray we'll all be fit and healthy. By God's grace, we'll take it one day at a time.

Catch you later! Many thanks again for being here for me and my family! Your love and friendship so warm my heart! =)

So, what did it? (the birth story, for those who asked)
We were at the botanic garden when the first painful contraction struck, followed by a second one 20 minutes later. What was not so "textbook" was that in less than 1.5 hours, the contractions would become 5 minutes apart and much more intense, after dropping off the boys and my sis at home, and I was already 7.5 cm dilated when Vern and I reached the hospital!

It was a regular Wednesday otherwise, when I'd take the boys to the library, and I did, with my sis, and we also squeezed in a trip to the mall for a wee bit of shopping for her.

This, while Vern was in school, I drove, and he called with the idea of the garden visit as it was the last time the summer concert was to be held that evening. We headed back home first for an early dinner (I'd left chicken to stew in the slow cooker), before coming back out.

The boys got to play for half an hour in the garden's playground, and my sis caught some of the mosaic Niki sculptures still on display. But we had to roll up our picnic mat just before the band started playing, when that grimace on my face said it all!

Maybe it was all the traipsing around town. Maybe it was the "Ben and Jerry's" icecream that Ben and I had -- as part of the treat I promised him and Jon if they would be more patient shoppers.

The same brand of icecream had apparently "worked" for another mom we heard, to bring on the contractions while, like me, waiting for the induction date to roll around! What'd you know? Maybe Kaitlyn will grow up liking that Mango Sorbet I had! ;p

Congratulations!!

And you still look so fabulous in your PJ, after delivery.

My baby girl has 2 big brothers too, and boy, some years down the road, the noise in your home will really get rowdy.. who says 3 or 2 kids doesn't have much difference. With 3, whenever there's 2 fighting, each of them will try to coax the 3rd one to stand by their side.

Then again, your boys might not be fighting as much as mine do. Boys boys boys. It's nice to have a girl to "soften" up these male species around, right?

Enjoy yourself, and happy confinement.

Congrats to you and your family. Hi to baby Kaitlyn, another Leo whom I know. I'm Leo and my daughter is a Leo too.

You still look energetic. Rest well and take care and enjoy bonding with your little baby.

Hey BP. I want to add that baby Kaitlyn looks so alert for a new born baby, eyes bright open, waving hands already! She has lots of hair, so dark, so healthy! Her eyes look just like her brothers, and what a precious princess she is going to be for you and the rest of the princes! Take it one day at a time for now, do lots of slow cooker or one pot meal cooking on a busy day, less is more. Take care my dear friend, wish I could hold your baby in person, oh, I so love new born babies!

Congratulations to you all, and welcome to the world, Kaitlyn!!! You are such a cutie with beautiful hair and great alertness already!
Great birth story ... kindda like mine! I was already about 7cm or so dilated when we got to the hospital. So glad your delivery went smoothly. It doesn't sound like you used the epidural? Wow! Hat off to you for great pain tolerance!
So glad to hear your MIL is coming to help you. I hope she won't have as many rules for you as my MIL did!!
Do get as much rest as you can. I know it is difficult with 2 other little ones to take care of.
I will continue to remember you in prayer. Cherish the early days ... they sure grow up fast!!
Hugs and kisses for baby & all!

Mummy is great. Kaitlyn is great. Daddy is great. The Kor-kors are just great too!

And God is great - for He fearfully and wonderfully made each one of us. Great are thy works.

bp, thanks so much for sharing. I was tapping on my palm last night in bed and read the post. I could not see the pix on my palm. My frozen shoulder and painful knee just could not get me out of the bed to walk downstairs to look at the pix. Yet, I could not wait. Then I called Rachel who was on the computer and asked her to "see" for me the baby first!

That sounds funny. But, Rachel really logged on and called me on the phone - Mummy, she looks like me when I was born - a lot of hair, very alert, not sleeping. Not like Chris who had no hair! Now, you can go to sleep and see for yourself tomorrow!

You look great - but, don't settle with that. Take a good rest. Take plenty of tonic food. And while baby Kaitlyn sleeps and the boys not at home - steal more rest. Your sister is also great!

Hello Boon Ping

Congratulations! Kaitlyn looks like a little Japanese doll! And I must say you have not aged a bit since NUS days! Heard from your sis that you are a superwoman juggling two hyperactive boys and housework. Very impressive! Hope your little princess will be easy to look after. Take care and congrats again!
