OPI - Embrace the Gray, OPI - Fly & OPI - Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window

As I said in my previous post: Embrace the Gray is a nice canvas for nailart......the proof is in the pudding!
I combined it here with OPI Uh-oh Roll Down the Window (Touring America Collection Fall 2011)
and OPI Fly (Nicki Minaj Collection 2012) in a kind of waterfall brushstroke art thing. In real life it was a bit more outspoken but not by much: I like the muted tones even though Fly is fairly bright. It was a nice and quick tip wear cover up ;-)

OPI - Just Lanai-ing Around (Hawaii, Spring/Summer Collection 2015) & Super Bass Shatter (Nicki Minaj Collection 2012)

Slowly working my way through all the pictures a made the last few months!
Today I found this one in the archives: it's OPI Just Lanai-ing Around topped with OPI Super Bass Shatter. I know I had some tip wear on the JLA but was not in the mood to change the whole mani so I added the shatter. I kinda like the result, although I don't love shatters very much....

OPI - Die Another Day (Skyfall, Holiday Collection 2012)

It has been a long time.....I know!
I haven't stopped wearing polish or making nail pics, it's just that there are just 24 hours in a day and that is sometimes not enough to do everything I would like to do.
I'll try to post a bit more frequently but I don't know if it's going to work: let's say I'll try.

To start I came upon these nails I did some months ago; OPI Die Another Day.
A lovely glowing red with a hint of orange.

Essie - Pink Happy (Breast Cancer Awareness 2014)

Today I'm wearing Pink Happy from this years Breast Cancer Awareness collection. It is the darkest colour of the three. Essie describes it as follows: "laughter is the best medicine and the happy energy of this bright fuchsia berry is sure to put a smile on your face."
It is a fuchsia berry with lots of blue undertones and with my skin that just does not transfer as happy it looks more like granny on me. In the pictures it looks kind of OK, but in real life it pulled darker and less cheery.
This was two layers, but be slow and don't sweep to much with the brush or you will get bald spots!

I decided to topcoat the lot: it was chipping fairly quickly and I thought that a layer of twinkles would save the day;......it did not........ >hmph<

The chips were gone, but the blue was even more enhanced and there was a silver sheen that didn't do the colour any favours. No Nicole's Best Pink Ever did not save the day for me today.
I swatched it over black on a nail wheel and that was gorgeous so there is still hope voor The Best Pink Ever! Now I need to figure out what to put over Pink Happy to make it truly happy for me....

Colour blocking with China Gaze - Riveting (Hunger Games Collection, spring 2012)

As I told you the day before yesterday, my Flashbulb Fuchsia was chipping at day 1,5........
My quick and easy solution to this problem was: colour blocking. And I used China Glaze Riveting for this task. The orange and the fuchsia/cyclamen sort of clash but I like that kind of juicy clash :-)
The end result sparkled like crazy and was very hard wearing! >yeah<

OPI - Blue Chips (overstock re-release of OPI - The Flowers are Blue-ming, the Ulta "Too Haute To Handle" collection 2012)

Before the holidays I bought a bunch of cheap OPI's at the Big Bazar, they had all names I had never ever heard of. But Google helped me out; most of these are overstock re-releases of special collections (collaborations mostly).
Today I am wearing Blue Chips (I found out this was The Flowers are Blue-ming of the Ulta "Too Haute To Handle" collection 2012) : a turquoise blue polish with a nice big helping of silver holo micro glitter in the mix. The blue was a bit harsh on my skin tone and the glitter makes tiny bumps on the blue surface so the polish looks bumpy even though it feels smooth due to two liberal layers of top coat.

I compared it to Suzi Says Feng Shui and Absolutely Alice, the first being a bit softer and more petrol blue, the second is deeper in tone and more turquoise.
The thing with Blue Chips is the pearl sensation; it eats the micro glitters and makes the polish look bumpy and flat in certain lights, in the sun and halogen light the micro glitters pop out. They are so shiny that the twinkle overwhelms the pearl completely and makes it look fabulous. So wear this one in the right light ;-)

This was two easy coats and I had chips within a day (hence the name Blue Chips?).

China Glaze Ray-diant (Prismatic Chroma Glitters Collection 2012)

YEAH, back again!

That implicates our holiday is over..... >sad<
We went to France, Switzerland and Italy this year, we had a lovely, lovely time.

Impression:

Wild waters in Switzerland.

Sea monsters in Italy.

Building sand castles.

Even the ladybugs were in matching tent colours...

Wearing OPI Got The Blues For Red on the toes.

Lago di Como, like a saffire in the sun.

The ferry on Lago di Como.

Hanging around in the trees.

Place Stanislas in Nancy (France not Reagan...)

OK, polish time!
This was one of the last polishes I wore before the holiday: China Glaze Ray-diant. It is one of the six Prismatic Chroma Glitters in this collection and it is crazy blingy in the sun.
Ray-diant is a fabulous mix of micro glitters and slightly bigger glitters in a transparent base. The micro glitters are in this case golden and green (thus giving a slight duo chrome effect in switching between green and gold), the slightly bigger ones are silver and multi coloured....I don't think there are any holo glitters in the mix...it is just crazy glitter on it's own.

It was hard to catch the green shift.....but is is there....trust me!
This was two easy coats with two layers of top coat to make it nice and smooth.
I wore it for days and it felt very beach appropriate and radiant >hardy har har< :-)
