sul ponticello
...not that i do it, but oh well, i guess this is considered near the bridge, figuratively. (:
i want to watch newsies someday! so clearly the menken magic is as powerful as always ^^
nice music starts from 3:03 (: and i think she sounded better onstage than she did in the cast recording, actually. :O
packing my room has really dug up a whole slew of memories haha. i was sifting through all my rg/rj stuff, and dug up lots of treasures from all over :D like all the YO programmes, and the esplanade passes (i kind of regret having an incomplete collection but oh well i didn't know you could take it home the first few times ><); the rgco scores and even farewell notes from like, four years ago :O didn't help that i was listening to old performance recordings at the same time hehe nostalgic much.
in other news, ca3's over, and now we're one exam nearer to concert season (:

wales/cambridge/london was awesome (: had a lot of fun those 12 days and took a lot of pretty pictures :D musicals were really good, especially les mis (and OMG I HAVE A PHOTO WITH SIERRA BOGGESS :OO) and matilda was cool (i love 'naughty'. i think it has something to do with my partiality to 'i want' songs) the trip was generally characterized by music, singing randomly (would you believe we sat at rhossili bay for two hours just to admire the scenery and sing? :P) and running around for the trains because of all the massive delays. but i enjoyed it so so much; awesome friends + awesome music + awesome places ftw :D
and just slightly before that, playhouse was really fun too (: our score was a mashup of about nearly 30 songs in total, i think, spanning almost all the periods in music history (including but not limited to debussy, wicked and bioshock) and we really nailed some of the pieces even though coordinating with the actors was tough sometimes. so yes, i'm insanely proud of my orchestra
♥ couldn't see much of what was going on onstage while i was in the orchestra pit (my first time in one! omg it was so cool although it kind of chopped my water bottle in two) but now i'm watching the video i think the actors were really good too! great job to m1 playhouse :D and to my openly bimbo orchestra, i love you all lots xoxo ;D
yeah so the link's here if anyone's interested in watching. (:

pardon all the incoherent parentheses, there's just too much to say about everything that happened, and i guess i'm not the most organized of people. suffice to say that i had a really good month. (:
and so that was the end of 2012, and here's to 2013. happy new year, friends! (:
five hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes
five hundred, twenty-five thousand moments so dear
five hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes
how do you measure, measure a year?
in daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee
in inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife?
in five hundred, twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes
how do you measure a year in the life?

carolling today was actually really fun (: haha a lot of hilarious things happened including the jingle bell rock, randomly harmonizing, climbing the stairs to the wards and acapella-ing winter wonderland :D heh awesomeness. it was a little awkward at times, but i think the idea was good...maybe just improve the organisation a little bit next time. haha.
CA2 ended yesterday! went to watch pitch perfect again, this time with fiyero, galinda and the dragonfruit tree. (that phrase kind of has a ring to it don't you think :P) and it was funny and the mix-ups were good! and when we came out of the theatre galinda was very inspired to try acapella and she kept asking me to sing stuff with her. so we hung around the outside of the theatre for awhile singing chinese pop, with fiyero and the dragonfruit tree giving us weird glances. HAHA.
now for playhouseeeeee :D rehearsal beginning tomorrow! gosh i love my orchestra! <3 remember our grand plans for next year kay (:

portamento
"did you know that our hearts beat in triple time?"
"patent ductus arteriosus is, like, inappropriate contact."
"a lady fell off the stage and into the orchestra pit and fractured her...scaphoid."
"we need to be clear and succinate!"
"the piriformis looks like a piece of sashimi..."
"you dropped your radiocarpal watch."
yup that's how crazy our lives have become. and at rehearsal today there was the issue of actors not following their lines ("oh my god! unbelievable.") and daryl and me "being fred and george" when we smsed julian. ah wells, even if we were "dreadful" and didn't "exceed expectations", i suppose we still "troll"-ed him in a way. (:
there is also something very indescribably magical about les mis's 'one day more' and 'finale'. i can't wait till the movie comes out omg haha. and a new international trailer appeared showing more songs! it looks pretty awesome already.
ahhhh december please come quickquickquickkkkk ♥
here, like a seedling in a garden
is a world about to start
how i need you here to share it
this is too much for one heart

segue
m1 playhouse is going to be totally excitinggggg :D
haha. first proper rehearsal today and it was not bad! yay for the orchestra. and after we finished blackbird we started improvising random stuff (including things like payphone and viva la vida) and basically had a lot of fun. oh and jon tang is a synthesizer genius; he figured out all the functions and stuff within like, 5 minutes? and there i was, trying to figure out how to even turn the thing on and how to connect it to the amplifiers. =.=
hilarious event of the day:
while standing on the bus from CFA to science, tricia/desmond/jon tang/me line the doorway; with two of us on each side of the bus door, while people pass through the door, stopping us from moving inwards
tricia: we can't even move in!
me: omg. i feel like...simple squamous epithelium.
desmond: yeah! and this is diapedesis!!
crazy med school syndrome haha. just like how we compared the circle line to the acetabular labrum (with the purple line being the transverse acetabular ligament). :P
anyway, happy halloween! forever friends has adorable defying gravity pictures <3
and i've gotten newly addicted to miss saigon. and lea salonga!! (: haha. though i think it's something to do with claude-michel schonberg. like, you need to listen to his music more in order to fully appreciate it.
yes still, i still believe
i know as long as i can keep believing
i'll live, i'll live
love cannot die
you will return...you will return
and i alone know why

festivamente
SIBF 2012 with Orchestra Collective was just...plain awesome. 90.89♥ and i got a dressing room all to myself. :P
and musicals yesterday were good too. we finished watching and the one day more encore was...wow. though galinda got very disapproving of marius halfway through the show. :P and we sang random songs accompanied by galinda's piano and had a lot of fun. i love advocation so so much.
house dinner today was fairly amusing too. with pig and phantom and funny conversations. though sometimes i miss jc life. the two years flew by very fast. and so much happened. and i was wondering if i'll remember all that occurred, 10 years from now.
and there are so many things coming up and so many decisions to be made. it's like a new school and a new beginning, i suppose. new subjects, new things to mug; new friends to make, new ccas to join...and it isn't so much the new part that bothers me. it's the fact that we need to let go of the old before we can welcome the new. and i don't know, maybe i'm not ready to let go of the familiar stuff i've always known yet.
oh well. life goes on.
and between now and then
until i see you again
i'll be loving you
love, me.

una corda
so that was one busy week.
i started going for rehearsals, and my calluses are coming back :D heh it feels good to go back to the days where i could freak people out with the hardness of my fingertips (Y) though yesterday zhao yang spoiled the effect by saying they look like nicotine stains. :P anyway SIBF is tomorrow, and hopefully it's good. we are playing fairly nice pieces. and i get to play perc in white noise (which is noisy all right). so i'm playing a total of 3 pieces. not a bad percentage.
of course, given the choice i'd have opted for something else, but oh well. things happen. at least i'm glad we played that duet in february before all this happened. (: sunrise♥
then there was CIP yesterday and the day before, which were fairly amusing. and it was so funny how we pretended to be very happening people. jumpshot, anyone? HAHA. :P house party was fun too, with an awesome view on the roof garden (i love the way cities look at night; all the lights and everything are just so pretty :D) and of course hilarious things (involving pepsi and fishballs) happened. xD
tomorrow is busy and monday is fun :D we're bringing forward the plan from last week and going to watch musicals in the upper uplands of gillikin! les mis 25th and legally blonde and maybe more. depending on what catches our attention online. (:
that's about it, i think. anyway, the song from today is the simba/nala duet section of 'can you feel the love tonight' from the lion king that i love! i first downloaded the song because i heard this part of it okay, it's nice. ♥
so many things to tell her
but how to make her see
the truth about my past? impossible
she'd turn away from me
he's holding back, he's hiding
but what, i can't decide
why won't he be the king i know he is
the king i see inside
