Glenn teases me that Halloween is my favorite Holiday, but I realized this year that while it is not my favorite (Christmas wins that one) I like it A LOT. Halloween lasted ALL of October. With four Halloween parties and many other festivities at home we took in all parts of Halloween this year. It really is so much fun with kids. The excitement of choosing their own costume to wearing it around the house for days and the idea of gathering loads of candy all in one night. What is there not to love about this holiday, really?
The Trick or treating begins
The Witch
I am not sure where Rebekah got the inspiration for a witch this year. She usually wants to be something ooober girly. I was surprised, but very happy about it. Since we dress up all year long like princesses at our house it was nice to do something different for once. She prided herself on being a mean scary witch this year. I think she did a decent job. Green face, black lips, a wart on her nose, and lots of evil cackles made for a very spooky witch.
The Ghost
Miriam changed her mind over and over this month, but we finally ended up with this cute little ghost. She was very happy with it. She even asked to sleep in her costume several times the last week. She is still talking about going out trick or treating again or having Halloween breakfast (oatmeal with candy in it to make a smiley face, thanks Daddy) tomorrow. I don't think she knows that Halloween happens once a year.
The Lion
Well Marcus surely wasn't the fiercest lion, but most likely the cutest. He did not love wearing his costume, but tolerated it well if the hood was not up. He did a little trick or treating and ate his spoils while out with the fam, but then he headed back to the warm house with me to hand out candy.
Pumpkin Carving
Glenn took work off the Friday before Halloween. So we made a day of it and carved our pumpkins. I was surprised at how much Rebekah could do on hers. Glenn did most the work though.
Rebekah's is the silly monster and Miriam's was the ghost that said Boo (fittingly)
We have broken out the hot chocolate for the year. We got our first snow of the year in October, which meant lots of playing outside (thanks to the backyard and the FENCE). It also meant lots of hot chocolate and the beloved (according to the girls) marshmallows. Miriam would go out for a total of three minutes and then come back in ready for hot chocolate. Rebekah however would stay out for over and hour and then come in.
Miriam had a party at school. Here she is at her parade. All the other girls were princesses and our happy little ghost floated along with them.
Rebekah had a party at school too which I was able to participate in. Her class had lots of fun and ate tons of treats. Here is the little witch enjoying her spoils.
We also had a Hasler family Halloween party with all the Hasler cousins who live near. My sister, Liz, has those pictures so I may post them if I get them from her. I also have pictures of Marcus' first birthday coming soon.
