Mcfarlane NFL Custom Chicago Bears
On this day in history - January 26, 1986 - The Bears won Super Bowl XX. Growing up in Chicago, I was a witness to the greatest sports team in NFL history - the 85 Chicago Bears! It was a site to see. During the peak of the McFarlane NFL line, there were plenty of customizers out there. I managed to pick up a Super Bowl Jim McMahon, William "The Refrigerator" Perry, and Mike Singletary. I also purchased a Mike Brown figure from the early 2000s. He managed to win two overtime games in a span of two weeks by intercepting the ball in overtime and running it back for a touchdown. Watch the Video. It's amazing. Has never happened before or since. Finally, the Brett Favre Bear was a horrible impulse buy, purchased because the Bears were once again scraping the bottom of the barrel for a quarterback. There were rumors they even approached Favre after his retirement to help out. I finally tossed that figure into the trash. Blasphemy!

Kenner Starting Lineup Chicago Bears - Sayers and Tomczak
So I pasted these photos in over six months ago and scheduled it for opening Sunday of the NFL football season. And then I forgot about it until I opened things up today and saw that I had in fact, did not forget to post today.
I never had any Starting Lineup figures. They came out basically when I was in college and in the army. The most I did was buy a kicker and paint him in my high school uniform - I was a kicker senior year in high school.

NFL Wild Card Weekend - Sunday Prognostications
Well, I was wrong on both picks yesterday, which provides me with a dilemma. Do I go the opposite way of which way I think or hope today's games should end. Very problematic as I am rooting for Da Bears.
Anyway, Game 1 today - LA Chargers at the Baltimore Ravens.
My Pick: Ravens 21 - Chargers 17.
Baltimore has a killer defense and quietly dismantled their opponents this year with that defense and rookie sensation Lamar Jackson at quarterback. Hoping McFarlane makes a Jackson figure next year. In the meantime, they still have Joe Flacco as their back up quarterback.
OK - here is the nerve wracking game of the day in my household. Philadelphia Eagles at the Chicago Bears. They say defense wins championships. Bears have the best defense in the league but a young quarterback. Philly got hot at the end of the year with their end of season miracle worker - backup QB Nick Foles. Philly also has a great defense though they struggled at the beginning of the year.
My pick: Chicago 29 - Philadelphia 17. I am guessing 29 points because Chicago's kicker COdy Parkey set a record this year for hitting the uprights during kicks. Four in one game.
Check this out: Parkey hits the uprights four times vs the Lions
Because the Bears have sucked for awhile, we don't have any current players from McFarlane so I am going back to the original Brian Urlacher (2018 Hall of Fame) and Brandon Marshall, the last figure McFarlane gave us from Chicago.
