Wednesday, December 11th, company and remote start

Where are we today?
Stratford Ontario
One more good nights sleep after a feast of wings and very nice visit with Marion.
Christmas Beer came with our
wings yesterday
This morning I had to be at K and K Racing and Performance, K and K, for 8:30 this morning to get a remote start on the Saturn. Several people have mentioned that we should get it done. George said today, that with putting snows tires and the remote start, it probably cost more than the car is worth. Kevin, I believe is the owner also took me to the hospice so I didn't have wait there for 4-5 hours. For us this winter, it is worth the cost.

For lunch he had an open face bacon and least 2 cheeses that was baked in the oven. He had these as a kid coming home from school and called it a cheese dream.

Friends Karen and Danny stopped by for a visit. It has been a while since we got together. We always talked about it when we were in Plattsville, but it never seemed to happen. They also brought their little dog Shilow for a visit. Wonderful conversation and people they are. In our early years of dating, we saw them quite frequently. It was great to spend some quality time with them.
Karen , Me Dan and Shilow
We both even got a doggie fix.

During their visit, I got a call that the car was finished with the installation. I asked them if they would take me there, so I could pick up the car. Of course, it was no problem.

Karen and Danny dropped me of at K and K. Kevin should me how to use the remote start. Pretty easy. We only need to remember 2 buttons. One to start the car and the other if we change our mind to turn it off. It will run for 15 minutes. No more, taking a spare key, start the car, go back inside apartment and a little later going back out making sure I have keys to lock the apartment. Much easier with the remote start. What a great company to deal with. Kevin has a 38' Diesel Pusher that he takes to races.
a very tasty supper to end the day after a great visit
For supper George had chicken, mashed potatoes, carrots, gravy, vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and Kale salad. Of course, he needs his hot sauce as well.

One Day At A Time.

Car serviced, meds topped up, wine bottled and meet up with old friends on a hot sunny day.

Where are we today ?

Now this is more like the weather we love, think it went from winter to summer just like that! 5 am 50F (10C) outside. A bit of ground fog early then quickly burned off with the morning sun. At 8 am took the car to Pettigrew's Garage to get an Oil change and have Dale check out the code on his device for the engine light. Did not take him long to find a broken vacuum line. Easy quick fix. That should take care of the problem and  so far it has.
Early morning mist looks almost spooky
then in a bit the sun roses and burned it off
Then a quick trip to the pharmacy in New Hamburg for a prescription renewal, Back home for a tasty lunch, left over pizza heated in the frying pan, tastes like fresh made reheating it that way.
Nice drive to New Hamburg
Now at 11:15 we headed into Woodstock to bottle a batch of wine, Suzie's favourite Green Apple Resiling from Vintner wine works owned by a good friend Dave Mercer we have known for many years. Our daughter's used to figure skate together back in the 90's and we also had a lot fun camping excursions with Dave and Liana well over 20 years ago.We  know it is hot out when we need to run the air-conditioning in the car!
This be a busy place and he serves his customers well
makes excellent wine too
a  nice light tasty wine Suzie enjoys
While we there Dave had texted Liana and she came over to visit, we have not seen her for 13 years! Wow Such a nice surprise and glad that Suzie came with me. She went down the road to get her hair trimmed while we bottled the wine, does not take long. What a fun visit and short catch up with these guys reliving some of the fun times we had years ago. And wish Liana a Happy birthday seeing as tomorrow is the day!

Soon time for us to head back home, stopped at her brothers to store 15 bottles of wine (we only have so much storage a batch is 30 bottles) then home to Camp Awesome and enjoy the rest of this amazing hot sunny day in the shade 85F (29C) the weather we really do love. Enjoying our page turners, happy hour and put some pork back ribs in sauerkraut, on our Weber Q to get tender and tasty for a couple of hours. For that recipe you can click HERE or my recipe blog top right sidebar.
back roads coming back from Suzie brothers
now  a peaceful afternoon enjoying this weather in the shade
smelling the ribs cooking in kraut
While enjoying the weather the huge tree across from us shedding Keys! So wonderful to see, they look like butterflies twirling around in the light breeze heading to the ground. Hoping to make more trees in the process.
this tree is shedding the keys,
'but could not get a picture of them twirling to the ground
hundreds of these everywhere
Then time to whip up a salad to go with supper, grill some fresh asparagus as well
ribs in the kraut
love this BBQ sauce thanks Deb for the tip
glazing the ribs and cook the asparagus just right
yup this was wonderful 3 ribs each and the rest sure hit the spot
That is about the end of this posting for a wonderful hot sunny day we both enjoyed. Dishes done. still 74F(23C) and at 7:30 pm and can now enjoy  a beautiful evening outside with our page turners listening to the mourning doves, birds chirping and occasionally see a squirrel or rabbit  run on by. This is the life we love. Maybe a sunset later on if I get a pic will post it tomorrow.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and really hope y'all had a wonderful summer like day.

Another excellent spring day, nice walkabout, doggie fix and helping friends with their satellite dish

Where are we today ?

A nice cool night for sleeping, 47F (8C) at 5 am and going to be a wonderful warm sunny day. I got a nice walkabout the campground and down Arkona Road an back a mile each way, a nice quiet country walk. And start to my day. And what great this is going to be , sunshine and no wind, shorts on before 9 am, what are can we ask for?
out and back my first walkabout 2 miles today.
The campground so quiet now with all the kids and weekend people gone. Nice to enjoy it here on a very warm sunny day just beginning.
only one trailer in the orchard today
Heading out for a walk down the road an back Rob had received a new stand up zero turn mower for the campground and had to try it out . looks like a fun machine to get things done.
Rob giving it  a tryout
Leaving the campground past the mini golf that is so inviting head west on Rock Glen road on a perfect spring day.
the flood waters have died down now
no wind the turbines are not moving
I do enjoy walking the road in nice weather
down to the motel and turned around
Then a bit later we had a light tasty lunch. And I headed over to explore the back roads around Hungry Hollow, just because I could. A nice scenic drive I always enjoy.
the bridge across the river after the falls
checking out Fossil road, beside the river comes to a dead end
Then I enjoyed a very long hot shower and we settled into our page turners enjoying this wonderful warm afternoon sunny day.
A bit later Walt (our flooring guy) and Barb dropped by to say hi and said they were having issues with their shaw satellite dish after the storm last Saturday. Heck I can take a look at it and see if I can help, either an easy fix or a hard one.
Doggie fix for Suzie Maya jumped right onto her lap
We said we would come to their house in Forest, inspect the renovations and check out the dish issue.
Maya helps Walt drive the car
Over to their house and inspected the renos they did over the winter and looks amazing like the kind of work that Walt does. It was so warm that Suzie even put here shorts on for a couple of hours, I was too busy to take  picture of this amazing thing that happened.
Maya showed us a few new tricks with Walt
Then we set to work on the Satellite dish. No luck after an or so hour I gave up. I knew the settings are right but no good signal. So the bottom line Shaw needs to be called and do some remote work to get it going again. This can be frustrating when this happens, but can be fixed.
So we enjoyed a  beer in their back yard chatted for a while and headed on home.
Maya jumped in the car with Suzie and
would have come home with us.
Sorry girl, Walt needs you here
Now was 5 pm and through Forest thinking we would would pick up some wings at FoodLand, but hey were sold out. Hmm. Just a block away I had noticed they have Fish and Chips so we headed there.
Friendly waitress, good quick, cooked to order service and very tasty meal we enjoyed. Very lightly breaded fish was excellent.
this was a very tasty feast , one piece would have been enough.
but I ate the whole thing!
Heading east to home and here before 6 pm. still a nice day so we hopped into our lawn chairs,. finished this posting and right back into our page turners that we enjoy.
and a decent sunset from last night to share with you
I will post this now and relax out here for while yet and if we get a sunset I will most that tomorrow, but does not look promising right now shortly after 7 pm.
Thanks again for dropping in for a view and hope you had a wonderful spring day as well.

Where have we been this Summer ?

Car repairs, sunshine, lawn mowing and enjoy this sunshine.

Where are we today ?
clic a pic to enlarge it
It was a great night for sleeping again, cold and refreshing just the way we love it! Up at 5 am and 45f outside, 52f inside time to fire up our blue flame heater. Not much time for a walkabout  took the car to Pettigrew's garage for 8 am for some needed repairs. But on the way I got a nice country drive enjoying a wonderful sunrise.
what a nice bright sunrise
cool skies this morning
Now at Pettigrews for 8 am and today Mike is doing the repairs, First was the left rear wheel cylinder that is leaking.
top centre it does not look good
in no time that was replaced
next was our fuel filter
then the tie rod end, they ended up doing both sides
Now with this done lets get a wheel alignment. This new technology for this stuff amazes me , All computerized . Tells them exactly what to do, Love that I can watch these guys here do their stuff.
this computer tells what needs to be done
and you can see as Mike does adjustments
In 2 hours I was back home to whip up a tasty light lunch on a wonderful sunny  but a cold day .
After lunch a quick drive to New Hamburg for a few items at the No Frills. And was so nice to run into old friends from Plattsville from many years ago. Maizie and Harvey. Chatted with them for quite a while.
a nice country drive to New Hamburg
Then back to Camp Awesome to mow the last 1/3rd of this yard just over an acre only takes me about an hour .The last grass cutting here for this year. So glad I got it done before we leave and on a nice dry sunny day.
mowing the back of the yard
our coach is the tiny white spot lower center
Back home done most of my work, store our Weber Q, Roll up our awning so we can get sunshine for heat. Then a nice long hot shower.  Love our Blue flame Heater, moved it by the shower so it was toasty warm there. Uses so little propane and quiet we love it!Our 80 lb propane tank can last us a month or more even using our fridge , stove, hot water and BBQ on propane , so nice. But we do keep a kitchen window open 1/ 2 inch for fresh air and reduce the humidity that can built up with this style of heater. We replaced our Mr Heater last winter after 11 years of good service with this Blue Flame below. More money yes but so worth it when we are dry camping with no hookups.  Thermostat on it, just set the temperature we like and it does the rest. Most of the year.
our blue Flame heater
love it, our own fireplace, silent efficient heat
After a long hot shower outside in the sunshine for a while to enjoy our e-readers,  What great day only 54F.but we have sunshine and mostly out of the wind.
just dress a bit warmer and was wonderful
Soon time to whip up supper. Tonight a couple of Turkey Garlic sausages , salad and acorn squash,(done in the microwave) to go with our tasty salad.
nicer on the Weber Q but this is nice too
very tasty supper hit the spot tonight
That was our day wrapping up a few loose ends here, only one more relaxing day here before we heading on out exploring and searching for sunshine and warmer temps.
Thanks again for joining us and hope y'all had wonderful day as well.
