a tale of tails, tenacity, and tedium, as told by me, usually barefoot and bellowing

A Repost From Eight Years Ago~More Pictures...Fewer Words

It is...was a beautiful day. Warm, windy, and did I say wonderfully, comfortingly warm!
No snow, no rain, only mud left over from both.
Started at the barn with my four God-Given equine treasures.
(Refer to previous post, My Mistakes, My Glories.)
All not recently groomed with their winter coats.
As you can see the wind is blowing.

I took pictures of Arrow's whorls so I can get them read by some whorl experts (y'all!).
In this picture you can see plainly why he is dubbed Broken Arrow.

Knot was too busy eating to smile for the camera.

Showing Magic's blue eye.
It was a day for muck boots, not these!
It was warm enough that the mud felt quite wonderful pouring through all the holes
while I was trying to keep my balance.

Maggie and Lil anticipating the walk
Then we walked.

One of five ponds we have. This is the New pond, meaning it was built in the last twenty years. We also have the Top Pond, the Highline Pond, the Frog or Hog Pond and the Spring Pond.

Parts of the creek no one sees
Another hidden jewel
Help! I've lost my feet!
The sky darkens!
Watching Lil hunt a varmint.
Enjoyed the day and took many pictures.
and found my feet!

This post was written eight years ago, two months after I entered the blogosphere. Circumstances may have changed but I think I may be about the same.

Happy Holidays!

Canine Casa Grande

I couldn't do this with out power tools.
The scrap pile is getting smaller
as pieces are put together like a puzzle.
Every one came to check out the action and noise.
Lil decided she liked it before I was finished.
Now she has a cozy house with a corner for the really cold days
and a nice door to view the world if she chooses.
Hubby and Andrew had to help with this...too big for me to handle.
Andrew moved it into place with the tractor bucket...
talk about power tools!
Lizzy loves her little house with dining on the deck.
Two more houses to go!

How Big Is Too Big

for an OCD Border Collie stick dog?
Lil spies a massive "stick"
and demonstrates the Border Collie's determination.
Not one to give up easily
Lil tries to stare it down
knowing in her youth there was no stick that could best her.

The Things I Do For Pictures

I climbed this tree because I always have.
It is a large tree that slants across the creek as it grows upward.
I forgot I am sixty-one now but I knew there would be photo opportunities.
From above I watched Lil cool in the creek
I dropped my lens cap...in a snaky looking spot.
I hesitated but finally climbed down with caution and retrieved it.
But not before I shot the tree I was in...
The tree was impressive as a child but now it's almost scary.
I fear these may be the last photos you see from here!

Never Alone

Seems I'm never alone,
full sun nor shade.
They gather to the pack leader
or the one who feeds them...that's my guess.
They inspect my work
and keep a careful watch over me.
That paint bucket could have a hidden treat.
You never know.
Finished outdoor table for zeroing sights with denim sandbags ready to use.
Rifle season is soon.

Me and My Feet

After my feet and I had burned a brush pile and grass burrs I'd picked, we took a Gator ride to deliver Tractor Man to his tractor in the New Ground fields.

It was warm for a run up the hill. I'm a softie so old lady Lil and Lizzy got to ride in the Gator seat with me. They'd run along with us and were so hot.  We stopped at the creek.  My shoes were quickly discarded.
We walked in together, the dogs, my feet and I.
The water was cool
It was clear when we entered.
Clear didn't last long.
The dogs made quite a splash and stirred up the mud.
The cow flies, mosquitoes and deer flies were feeding on us as we cooled.
Even though the water was low there were some good pools to chill in.
We even liked the mud.
My self portrait and the dogs were cool and happy as we reflected.
