Busy as a Bee

Thursday, November 4, 2010

I think I mentioned to you before that I helped sew 800+ of these lovelies:They really are even more darling in person. You can snatch them up at Anthro sometime soon.

I also am busy doing a craft fair with a friend. I am now thinking, Am I insane??! My arms hurt so bad from sanding last night. I must be out of shape!! Here is a sneak peek at a few of the things I am busily working on for next weekend:

I am looking forward to sharing some fun ideas on here when I am done. Anyone else doing a craft fair? Seems like the holiday busy feeling is hitting me HaRd already. But the organized side of me has already planned out our kiddo's Christmas gifts. I have just a couple more to get and I am ALL done. Minus some sewing of 4 or 5 things. It is going to be a great Holiday Season!!! Anyone else already getting gifts?

Oh, Savannah...

Monday, October 18, 2010

So my crafting gumption has been bad the last few weeks, like you didn't notice. I love seeing all of your amazing projects on your blogs and in the link party. Otherwise, I would have little to no crafting in my life!!

I still have a ton of things to post from our new place but with being sick a couple weeks ago and then being out of town last week...it didn't happen. Yet. But I must say, if you haven't been to Savannah, GA or Charleston, SC you REALLY need to. Gorgeous areas with such history to observe!Have you gone on any fun trips lately? I am always up for suggestions on places to travel. I just LOVE to travel and see new things.

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

My new toy...

Wednesday, September 22, 2010

The other day on a whim, I decided to start looking for a ruffler foot for my sewing machine. My machine is a powerhouse. It was my mom's in high school. A Bernina Record 830. I have since met a friend who happened to have the exact same machine. What are the chances of that??! She told me it was the most popular machine ever sold. I can believe it because it is made of metal and is SO darn heavy but that also means it is very sturdy. I love it!
I didn't think they would have a ruffler to fit my machine but I was wrong!! I was so excited! It wasn't that expensive either. Totally worth it to me. I finally started playing around with it yesterday. And I cannot tell you how fun it is! It also makes ruffling and pleating SO fast. I cannot wait to share some projects with it....besides all of those others I have waiting but have just been too much of a procrastinator to share.

But if you have been debating about getting a ruffler foot, I would highly recommend it. I bought mine off ebay brand new from a sewing place out in KS. (Gotta go back to my roots somehow I guess!!) So easy to use and well worth it!! Any other gotta have "feet" you suggest for a sewing machine?

The fun is just beginning...

Friday, August 27, 2010

Oh, the joy of moving. I know I have been MIA like you wouldn't believe. I cannot even begin to explain the hassle of moving this time. Once we got here, we couldn't even put together our couch or kitchen table because we couldn't find the screws!! Ah, I tell you I was just about to start searching for kitchen tables on the internet. I was getting so sick of things not being 'put together.'

I have a ton of projects to show you and still so many more to do but I haven't wanted to stop to upload the photos and write the posts. We became obsessed with Lost over the summer and are just about to finish season 5. So please forgive me for doing more projects and spending some time with my hubby watching Lost. I will return sometime soon.

But here is a peek at some of the fun projects:

  • Kitchen Decor
  • Mantle Display
  • Vinyl Lettering in the Dining Room
  • Door Decor
  • Picture Frames
  • Fireplace Cover

I am sure there are more but those are just off the top of my head. Not to mention some dang cute little girl clothes and some fun jewelry for you!!

So enjoy the party links and check back for some more Fun to Craft ideas!! Hope you all had a great summer!

Bring on the Light!!!

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

I am seriously a freak about having my house be light. I love to open up all the drapes first thing in the morning and I will often turn on more lights than probably are needed. I just like to have light and be able to see things. I hate being in the dark. Makes me not feel as light and sunny too. Please tell me I am not the only one??!!

So you can imagine my disdain for our old place that was built back in the day and had absolutely NO light fixture in our front room. It was a dark and dreary place at night. We had one tall lamp when we first moved there but at night, and especially during the winter, that room was a depressing pit! So you can imagine why a light bulb finally went on in my head and said, you need to get a table lamp in here! It helped lighten things up and I enjoyed using that room SO much more.

I know I should stop dreaming around on the web right now but my kiddos are napping and on a bike ride so I had a free minute! I think we are going to need some new lamps for our new place. We will finally have enough room again in our bedroom to have our king bed with our nightstands on either side of it. The last room not so much. We were a bit cramped if you haven't picked that up yet. haha I started browsing lamps. The hubs will be thrilled.

I love this lamp:This one is absolutely gorgeous too:I really want to get some new bedding too but can you tell my list of wants is getting longer and longer?? I am still on a student budget. Ugghh. Maybe one day my house will be as cute as I want it to be. I wonder if everyone always feel like that? Do you?

I keep wondering if it will ever be as 'perfect' as I envision it! Nah, your house is probably cute and would totally make me jealous if I saw it!! I always love when some of you take pics of your crafts and it gives a little peak into your house in the background of your picture. Darling paint colors, cute home decor. I am always green with envy. It is okay though, I love to live vicariously. Oh, I am helping my mom redo her laundry room. So stay tuned for pictures. Can't wait to share!

Who doesn't need this??

I am in awe at all of the craft blogs out there now. I love it! I think where there was once maybe 10-20 crafty blogs, there are now literally hundreds. I used to worry about competing and staying up on followers. I realized that it didn't really matter who has more or less followers than someone else. What matters is inspiring yourself and others to craft new fun things!

I started noticing some of the big bloggers posting less often and also some giving their blogs up altogether. I also decided to take a break. My family needed it and I needed it. While I loved all the new blogs before, I am REALLY lovin' them now. I cannot tell you how many cute crafty bloggers there are out there. I mean, we all have our faves but I still love to check out all the new ones too. I am always inspired and I know my house will be cuter because of it!!

One blogger who has been around for awhile and has some awesome ideas is Jessica at Running with Scissors. I was completely lovin' her sewing table post she did the other day. I need one of these!! The thing I love about it, is that it actually looks doable. I think I can make this without a lot of tools too. Thanks for inspiring me Jessica. And to everyone else, keep the ideas coming. I love seeing what you create and I love seeing all of your blog success too.

Oh, the move...

Summer time is really my favorite time of year. I know it is hot and yucky on days but it is just always so bright and cheery. I never really mind waking up early since it is so sunny outside too. And not that the summer is over yet or anything, but we are gearing up for our next BIG move across the US. We will be going from Idaho to Georgia after my hubby finishes the bar here.

I am really excited for our new place so I really hope it isn't a let down. I have been looking at some Area Rugs. There are so many colors and designs. What is a girl to do?! I can't decide but I know with having hardwood in our living room, I will definitely want one.I have also been spying down some new Bath Accessories. I am really getting tired of our current shower curtain. I want a new look. Plus, we will have 3 bathrooms in our new place instead of just 2 like our old one and I will need more shower curtains and bath accessories. These polka dot ones are pretty fun.
I am also looking for new Storage options too. I was not lovin' our set up in our old place mainly because of lack of storage and space. I am hoping with being quite a bit bigger, this place will not make us feel so cramped. I love this black leather box. So classy, yet functional. We are also looking at some Kids Furniture. My little man needs his own twin bed once we settle down and I want it to be cute too. I figure why spend money on something that isn't going to last us. I want something that can grow older with him. I love this option with the dark wood and the storage underneath. I really wish a Flat Screen TV was in our future too. Those things are so thin and nice. Maybe one day...The move will be nice....once it is over! Hopefully once it is over too, I can start being a regular blogger again too!

Oh Vanity!

Thursday, June 10, 2010

So most of you that have been following this crafty blog of mine know that we recently moved, more like relocated while my husband studies for the bar. Then at the end of July we will be up for another move across country for another year of school. But I must tell you, I was a little disappointed that we moved out of our last place. Not because it was the newest or nicest place, but because ever since we moved there, they have been working on doing refinancing to remodel.

Of course, it wouldn't be ironic unless they started actually working on it until right after we moved....which they did. They told us they are replacing the kitchen cabinets and counters, the flooring in both bathrooms, new windows and doors, and new vanities in both bathrooms. I can't wait to stop by and check it all out when they are finished.

This got me thinking about having a new bathroom vanity. If I was building my own house, (which I hope happens sooner than I think it probably will!!) I think I might want something like this:or this:or maybe this:Oh, a girl can dream....But I am looking forward to our next place. It is going to be bigger, newer and hopefully our last stopping point before buying a house again. Wahoo!!

Few and Far

Thursday, June 3, 2010

Hey everyone,

Sorry my crafty posts have been a bit sporadic lately. I was still trying to get over what I think was walking pneumonia. It wiped me out and I had pretty much no energy. Plus, moving and getting settled in was a lot to do too. But I have a few projects I am working on...but I will admit, my posts in the summer might be a little less often than during the year. Mainly because I want to soak up as much of that summer sun and time with family as I can. I hope you can all do the same too!! So I apologize in advance if I sometimes seem not so crafty by my lack of posts!! I will definitely keep doing my blog party and the features from it so no worries there. (I have to have a big list of to do's for the winter inspired by you guys!) I will also show you what I have been up to the last few weeks. Not a lot of crafting per se but some fun stuff nonetheless! But I better run my... 3 year old is terrorizing the outside world and I need to go rescue plants, flowers or anything else that might be considered a road for his cars! Oh, and check back in a little while for the features from last week's party. AND as always, link up your fab ideas at the party tonight!!!

Another Moving Tip

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

My first move is over with. So glad to be done with that one! I had to share a tip...one I meant to share before but the move took a bit longer than I had anticipated. Two little kiddos make every move go WAY longer than it should.

One thing that has made past moves and this one too go a bit smoother is buying a mattress cover. I figure there is nothing grosser than having an expensive mattress get all nasty and dirty from sitting in storage or from being on a moving truck. We have bought these mattress bags for our mattress our last few moves and have been so grateful for them. They not only keep your mattress clean but they also make it slippery on the bottom which enables you to just scoot it along the carpet or wherever to get it into your moving truck. Mattresses, especially king sized ones, are just big and floppy. This makes them so hard to move. But with one of these mattress covers, it is so much easier. (No I am not getting compensation from Uhaul for saying this....I am sure you can buy these at other moving places too.) I just really think it is worth the 5 bucks to protect your mattress.

Oh, and I have some fun home decor/renovation stuff to share with you soon too. We have been sick and so I have been sluggish and not in the mood for blogging. I am on my way back though so I should have some craftiness soon enough!
