Clique Kits Pep Rally

Hello all and welcome!!  You should have arrived from the lovely Lacey's blog.  What a crazy busy this month has been.  I have to admit, I hate that crazy holiday scramble.  One year, I swear, I'm going to have everything done so I don't feel like a chicken running around with it's head cut off.  Moving on, let me just say I LOVE this kit.  It's one of my all time favorites.  For this month, I did do a two page layout.  It's been so long since I've done one.  I also have a cut file for you to download.  The cut file is only for the Silhouette Studio.  I'm sorry.  I will share the link with you so you can download it.  So without further ado, here you go.

I used the December Mini Kit to create this layout.  I mulled over the metallic world paper for a few days and decided it should have something to do with our family.  I knew I wanted to make the photos polaroid looking.  I made them 3x3 and 2x2 and printed them with a border.  I left about 3/4 inch on the bottom to mimic a polaroid photo.  I also made some photo strips which I printed on my Selphy as well.  I made the large cut file in the Silhouette Studio.  You can download it here.  Here are some closeups for this layout.

I hope I inspired you to take the leap....create a two page layout just for old time's sake. :)  I plan on using the rest of my December Full Kit and Mini Kit on my Project Life Album.  I'm way, way only slightly behind.  The acetate cards are perfect for Project Life.  Anyhow, its time for you to go and see what Alisha has come up with for you today.

Here is the blog list incase you get lost along the way.

Projects Mash Up

Hi there!  It's been a busy month.   Even though I've had the week off this week, I'm still playing catch up on everything.    Anyhow, I realize I haven't posted in a bit, and I have been working on tons of projects.  I'm going to post them here for you today as well as the awesome sales going on at Clique Kits.  So, here goes.  If I've already posted some of them before sorry...

This page is for my Week in the Life.  I wanted to keep it simple.  I created a cutfile for each day of the week.

An 8.5x11 layout.  I love doing those.

Okay, I think that's all I haven't shared.  Now Clique Kits is having an awesome sale on their website until Monday.  Here is a list of the discount codes and sales.

I'll be back later this week to share some Project Life Pages...I promise.  Also, I will be sharing some layouts I've created with the December Kit Enchanted Meadows from Clique Kits.  Its AMAZING!

Have a great Saturday!

Clique Kits Pep Rally "Study Abroad"

Hello there lovely ladies, and a few gents.  Welcome to the Clique Kits Pep Rally.  You should have arrived here from Alisha's blog.  Today we are sharing our projects for the Clique Kits September Kit,  Study Abroad.  I loved this kit.  I loved the bright colors, the origami hearts, and the Washi Tape.  There were so many personal touches to this kit, which is what I love about Clique Kits.  This month's theme was "Be Daring"

"The Clique challenges you to try something DARING this month! We think you are awesome and unique, and special in your own right-so go shine your light!"
(-via Beautiful Nomad)

I took this quote literally, when I created this 12x12 layout of my son at the lake.  He and my husband were shining the flashlight around the fire just before we sent the kids off to bed.

And some close-ups.

The "Shine"  title and the stars are my files which you can download for your Silhouette here (If you use them, just link them back to me):  Shine and Stars.  I didn't have time to convert them to .PNG.  If you are interested in that, please let me know.

The next layout is my Project Life Spread.  This was the week that we went back to Colorado for Ross and Wally's Memorial.

Wild Thing (12x12 Layout and a Free Cut File)

Hello there everyone!  I hope you've had a fabulous week.  Today, I wanted to share with you a 12x12 layout I made.  When I saw the background paper, it instantly reminded me of the book, Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.  It is one of my favorite childhood books of all time.  Strangely, my children don't actually like it that much.  To each his own, I guess.  Anyhow, here is the layout.
That is my "Wild Thing" JoJo.  He went through a stage of being a werewolf, and that was him making his werewolf sound when I snapped the photo.  I just changed the quote from the book...to mom not Max saying "Be Still"  I included the anchor as a little symbol from the book as Max sails off on his private boat.  To add some definition to the clouds, I rubbed some Distress Ink on them.  I also popped a few of them up of the page with paper rolled into a ball and stuck down with adhesive. At the time, I didn't think I had any foam stickers...I learned that I, in fact did, when last weekend we had a small hazmat situation on our hands in the laundry room.  I digress.  That's a story for another day.  Let's just say, there is nothing Mod Podge can't do.  I also wanted to share the .PNG files and the cut files with you for "Wild Thing"  They actually say Wild Things, but I cut the "S" off.  If you choose to use them, link them back to my blog.  I would love to see what you do with them.  Here is the .PNG.  Here is the Silhouette Cut File.

If you have any issues, let me know.  I've changed my downloads from Google Drive to Dropbox!

Words (12x12 layout) Using Wordle

Please note, this layout is actually straight...I just couldn't get it to crop properly.  A lot of you may remember this letter to Maddox a few months back.  Well, I copy/pasted the letter to Wordle.  I repeated the words Maddox, love, and color a lot so that his name would stand out.  It took me several arrangements to get the look I wanted.   One pointer I would recommend is not putting the phrase "not boring" in.  Wordle separated those words and left boring on its own so I had to make adjustments.  The words, "words, beautiful child" are my handwriting that I converted over for my silhouette machine.  You can download those files here.

Happy Scrapping!

30 Days of Thankful

So, I've finally made the base for my 30 Days of Thankful Layout.  I still have to go back and add words and text.  I'm hoping to finish that up sometime in the next few weeks.  I know, I know.  I thought I would share what I have so far, and the cut files as well.  Incase, you are still needing to put your stuff in a layout too.

Here are the links:  30  Days of Thankful  Here is the entire File together in the Silhouette format.  I have no idea what that is.  If you have problems you can contact me, and I will email it to you.  Here is the download.

I'm hoping to learn more about my Silhouette.  I purchased some classes from Kerri Bradford Studios.  I'm hoping they help, and I'll let you know if they do.  I've watched a couple of videos so far.  They are very basic, but that's okay.  Well, I'm off!

Night 12x12 Layout

American Crafts Cardstock, clouds are from silhouette, washi tape, stars are from Studio Calico Kit, and "night" is my cut file.

Being creative, I splattered paint on the background, randomly.  I also wanted to journal in white ink, but when I received my pen in the mail it was dried out :(  Finding white pens in our town is like finding a needle in a haystack.  So, this page is journaless.

If you wish to download my cut file, you can click here.

Breast Cancer Silhouette Downloads

Hi All!  Wolfie needed to decorate a paper shirt for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I thought I would make a few cut files for you all!  They are downloadable.  If you wish to post the cuts online, please link back to me.  I will be working on some Halloween cuts.  Also, please excuse the photos...They were taken on my iPad because I am having some difficulties with my time machine.  In fact, I am THISCLOSE to throwing it out the window, into the street and backing up over it several times.  No, I am not frustrated over this AT all.  Also, don't forget, you can find these and more on My Silhouette Designs page.

How it looks...And it takes a while to cut out.  Don't be alarmed.

The Cut file...download here.
If you wished to make just a very thin design...I didn't have the patience to peel it all off.  I hope you get the idea.

Very Basic Silhouette Tips

Please note, what I know about the Silhouette Machines is very basic.  Very, very basic.  However, if your knowledge is basic or you are looking into purchasing one this post will be right up your alley.

  • Sign up for the Silhouette Blog.  They will inform you about the free shape of the week.  Yes, free shape of the week.  There are sketches and tons of projects on there.  You can also find tips for ways to use your machine.  Even if you don't have a Silhouette, I recommend doing this.  It is "scrap-lifting" after all.
  • Sign up for the subscription services.  If you do have a Silhouette, getting the subscription services is a must!  I pay $10 a month and can download up to $25 a month in shapes.  That's $15 of free items!!!  Here are the plans.  The plans roll over so I always have credits saved up and I can go on a free for all, if I so wish!
  • Go to Youtube and search Silhouette America, or just Silhouette.  You will find thousands of videos about how to use your machine.
  • Look for weekly bundles.  Every week there are bundles at the Silhouette online store.  They have tons of shapes that are theme related.  It's a great way to save money on shapes.  You will find the bundles on the main page under the "Visit the blog" tab.

So that's it for today.  I am planning on being prepared for the upcoming holiday seasons!  I really, really am.  So, I'm hoping to get some cut files completed for you all to download in the next week or so.  They will be Seasonal related.  Football, Soccer, Halloween, Fall, etc.  If you have any requests, please let me know, and I will be happy to provide them.

Run Girl (12x12 Layout with cut file)

All supplies are from Studio Calico Kit.  The cut file for the background and clouds are from Silhouette.  The word "Girl" is my cut file which you can download here.  If you download, please link back to me if you post online.

For this layout, I used my number from the Dirty Girl Mud Run.  I saved it in a Ziplock bag until I was ready.  I then put it inside a page protector and sealed it before I put it in my layout.  I used glue dots to secure it, and it seems to be holding okay.  I do have more layouts to share with cut files, but I can't seem to find them in my pictures.  I may need to retake them.  So stay tuned....

My Silhouette Design Page

Hi there!  I just wanted to let you know that I added a page to my blog.  It is entitled "My Silhouette Designs"  I got a Silhouette earlier this year, after selling my Cricut.  The Silhouette does require a lot of learning.  To be honest, I haven't even scratched the surface of what it can do.  I love that I can cut out my own handwriting and add it to my layouts.  So, what I've done on the page is to upload the .png files of some of my layout titles.  All you have to do is click the photo or link and it will take you to Google Docs, where you can download it.  I also posted a tutorial by Nicole Samuels for how to use these files in Silhouette Studio.  All of this wouldn't be possible without her.  As I gain, more knowledge about the Silhouette, I want to try and create more designs in Photoshop for you as well.

With each file, I will link back to a post where you can find how I used the cut file in a layout or card.  (Look for this in a day or two as I have to upload some pics from my camera)

All of this is free for non commercial users of course.  Also, if you create a project with any of the files and post it online, all I ask is that you link the file back to my blog in your post.  I will do requests, within reason for those of you who are interested.  All you have to do is comment on this post, or email me at mariahashbaugh@hotmaildotcom.  That means if you have a project you're working on for a room, layout, or card I would be happy to create the files for you.  In the future, I hope to also post some ideas and tips for using your Silhouette.  I hope you guys find this helpful!  Just to be tempting here are a few sneaks...taken from Mariphone (God Love Her).
