Classic Black Book Cabinet

Before
I mentioned that my sister loves books. And she loves to display them and keep them safe in sweet book cases just like this one. And we found this particular one for a screaming deal (it is a Bassett) and she wanted it painted in the classic black to match her basement family room.

After
This piece has two felt lined drawers on top and the bottom!
The lines on this cabinet are very simple and straight - very mission style. The lead glass on the doors provides an old age feel and gives extra depth.
The original hardware was super chunky so we opted for something a bit lighter so as not to take away from the lead glass doors and books and pictures that will be displayed on the shelving.
These pieces are so versatile and can be used in so many different rooms in a home. The little back splash gives the cabinet a wee bit more height and a finished look.
I wish I could get my hands on a few more of these. They are not a traditional hutch and so much more glamorous than just a standard bookshelf. You can bet I will be keeping my eyes open for the next one that comes along!

Up next . . . . we are putting the finishing touches on a dining set finished in the classic black. It will be available to be purchased by the end of the week. We are also working on an old teacher's chair that we are doing in a fun Restoration Hardware grey / green color. I cannot wait to show the reveal of this piece!

Happy Wednesday!

Custom Refinish - Before & After

This past week I have been going on and on about a wall unit that Mike has been working on and it is finally complete! And it turned out spectacular! You be the judge. And I would love to hear from some of you . . . leave me a comment!

Before

This came to us in four pieces. We painted it black, distressed it and added new hardware to closely match the desk it would be sitting behind. It had the beadboard style backing which I always love! It gives so much depth and detail.

After

I love these two different main pieces. One has a door and one consists of shelves only. The door has a moon shape at the top and wood detail on the glass. The bottom pieces have doors with shelves for tons and tons of storage which everyone knows is never a bad thing.

I think this unit really compliments the desk and looks like it has been a set all along. We got a call from the client on our way home telling us they are in love with their new home office. I think it turned out beautifully. I would certainly love to have one of these in my home!

Check back on our new dresser that should be available tomorrow!
