Friday Challenge - Spring Has Sprung!

Friday, April 25, 2014

TGIF everyone!  Lisa here with you today.  It seems as if Spring has finally sprung in most places (FINALLY!) and today my challenge for you is a Springtime challenge, perfect for getting a jump start on last weekends Easter photos or any other crafty project. It's guaranteed to put you in a Springtime mood! Think bright colors, blooming plants, warm weather, Spring showers, baby animals ...and maybe even a little Spring cleaning!

My challenge for you is to incorporate at least three of the following words in some way shape or form into your project:

For example:  You could use the word Spring in your title, add some flowers to your project and use a green patterned paper on your project.  You can use the form of a word as well i.e. instead of eggs you can use egg or instead of plant you can use plants or planted.  You may use more then 3 of the words if you wish  but make sure and tell us what 3 (or more) words you used on your Spring project!!!!

Here is my example:
I used the words "egg" and "hunt" in my title, I used yellow patterned paper, I used cloud stickers and also used a flower sticker as well!  It's fun to see how many words you can use on one project!

Products used from the store:
Simple Stories Homespun Collection kit
New Beginnings Bakers Twine- yellow and white

Look at our Design Team's take on this challenge!

I used flowers, eggs, Easter, green, blue, yellow, and bright.

DIY Project Life Cards with Lisa!

Saturday, April 19, 2014

Good morning!  I hope everyone is enjoying a beautiful weekend where you are at!  Lisa here today as blog hostess and today I wanted to share a fun layout I created in which I made my own DIY  Project Life cards! Here is the layout I created:

Here I am using my homemade "cards" on a traditional layout but you could always use them in the pocket style protectors as well.  For the top card I added a small doily and topped it off with one of the Elle's Studio Cameron Tidbits layered on a small banner.  Underneath I added my journaling, I couldn't find a paper with a small not so busy print, so I cut up the packaging for the Elle's Studio Everyday Moments Bits & Pieces and made little journaling banners.

I think rounding the corners of my home made cards add a special touch and more feminine feel.  For the other three cards I just added my wallet sized photos, but if you had less photos you could add extra embellishments instead.  I can't get enough of the Elle's Studio wood veneers!  Here is a quick tip for those die cut words: just use your glue dots or wet glue and adhere a small bit of your favorite patterned paper under the wood piece to make it really stand out against a plain background and make the words easier to be seen.

I have found the Elle's Studio embellishments are a great addition to your DIY Project Life Cards, make sure and pick some up in the store today!  If you have made your own DIY Project Life cards I would love for you to share, please link up in the comments or post on our Facebook page, we'd love to see them!

Love You More with Lisa!

Saturday, March 22, 2014

CLICK HERE TO JOIN THE FROSTED DESIGNS FAVORITE THINGS BLOG HOP!

Good morning!  I hope everyone is enjoying our fun filled Favorite Things blog hop!  Lisa here today to share with you some more scrappy inspiration using the Elle's Studio Love You More collection pack:
I loved this picture I snapped on my cell phone of my son and my niece while at Fuddruckers celebrating her 6th birthday, but I was having a hard time coming up with a fun title for my layout.  I was looking at all the little cut out blocks on one of the papers when I saw the "No.1" and then the title came to me....No. #1 Fan!!!  Because this little gal is for sure my son's No. 1 fan! I decided to "fancy" up the title a bit by using a chevron envelope I received a gift card in on my birthday:
I mounted the No.1 cut out on a piece of pink paper included in the collection and then used another cut out for my "tag" to come out of the envelope, I included journaling inside the envelope by adding a piece of white cardstock under the "I think you are perfect" cut out and journaling my thoughts on it. I used a Studio Calico wood veneer heart to act as a sort of pull tab for my hidden journaling.  This collection is so versatile and the two cut out sheets are perfect embellishments to dress up your layouts in a fun yet inexpensive way!  If you are like me and can't cut a perfectly straight, here is a little tip...ink the edges of all your cut outs and the ink blurs any imperfections in your cutting technique!  Enjoy your weekend and have fun on the Frosted Designs Favorite Things Blog Hop!

Friday's Challenge Punctuation or Keyboard Symbol

Friday, February 28, 2014

This time we have another fun challenge for you hosted by Joni Parker...
it's a Punctuation or Keyboard Symbol challenge ..

Use a punctuation mark on your card/layout. Can be in the title/sentiment or as an embellishment.

PERIOD, COMMA and APOSTROPHE do NOT count (sorry, too easy).
Here are some ideas: Brackets {} or [] , Parenthesis (), Question Mark ?, Hashtag #, Quotation Marks"", Ampersand &, Percent %, Dollar Sign $ etc....

I used Studio Calico Printshop for my layout...I was inspired by the stickers Smile and etc...
then I had my main title Photogenic and etc... (using AMPERSAND as my symbol)

The large script transparent etc (lower right) was not showing up very well on my layout, so I turned it over and added blue Stickles to the back-side...took a day to dry and I love how it pops color with the contrast of the orange ampersand!!

Supplies used from the store:
Studio Calico Printshop Paper Pad
Studio Calico Printship Die-Cut Scripty Words
Studio Calico Printshop Transparent Die-Cuts
Studio Calico Printshop Stickers
Stickles Glitter Glue

Mixing it up with Elle's!

Saturday, February 22, 2014

Hi everyone!  Lisa here to share a layout I made using some of my Elle's Studio goodies from the store!
I was going through a pile of old single photos that I hadn't yet scrapped as I find it extremely tough to scrapbook one photo.  When I stumbled upon this photo of my nephew at 3 years old I just knew I had to scrap it!  Here is my layout using a mix of Elle's Studio goodies available in the store:

One thing I find extremely helpful when doing a one photo layout is to do a large embellishment cluster to add a place filler to your layout (kind of like an extra photo).  The Elle's Studio Bits and Pieces, wood veneers and Snippets are perfect for this:

Don't be afraid to add your title onto one of the Cut outs or Bits N Pieces, it really adds interest to your title and "dresses" it up.  Don't have the "perfect" matching embellishment?  Use your punches, they are a great way to "make your own" embellishment from your patterned paper:

Don't you just love the beautiful colors found in these Elle's Studio lines?  I know you will find them as versatile as I have!  Products found in the Frosted Designs store:

Whether you are inspired by the colors, the pictures or just the overall mood these images and colors portray, get creative and let us know what thing or things from this board inspired you!

For my project, I made a layout combining several lines from the store. I was inspired by the overall Winter theme and the lovely blue hues in creating my layout:

Supplies Used from the Frosted Designs Store:
Echo Park Photo Freedom Volume 2 Paper and Stickers
Fancy Pants Timbergrove Paper and Embellishments
Elle's Studio Everyday Moments Paper and Bits & Pieces
Elle's Studio Love you More

 photo Lisa_zpsc69b3fc4.jpg

Here is what our Design Team felt inspired to make for this challenge…..

I was inspired by the lower right photo of the mug...reminded me of these photos I had from Christmas.

Fancy Pants Timbergrove - Collection kit (paper & stickers)
Fancy Pants Timbergrove - Die Cut Ephemera
Fancy Pants Timbergrove - Patterned Photo Frames
Fancy Pants Timbergrove - Decorative Bags (brown dot inside frame)

For this challenge I was mostly inspired by the color palette of the board, the dark blues, the tealish greenish blues on the bird and the leaves, the browns from the branches, and the warm pinkish hue from the latern. I also loosely translated other elements such as 'weather' my snow is raindrops and my coffee cup is a photo of my friend's tomatoe-y drink of choice that morning :)
Items used from the Frosted Designs Store are:
Patterned Paper: Fabscraps, Bella Blvd
Heidi Swapp Honeycomb Stencil
Gelatos: 50's Diner pack
Gesso
 Mini Misters
Dylusions Spray: Calypso Teal, White Linen
