Another Set of Art Cards

How many methods are there to put art on a 3 x 3" card? I have come to the conclusion that the answer is endless! They all look totally different depending on what order you do things such as stamping, collage, stencilling, gelli printing, and what stamps, stencils, papers and images you use. Every card looks completely unique, even if you use the same order and materials. So I make no excuses for sharing yet another method with you here and again these nine cards have been made as monthly project in my capacity of Guest Designer for Stencilgirl Products®.

That means you get a full step-by-step tutorial for this set of 9 cards as well as a list of the Stencilgirl® stencils I used in the making of them. You can find it here on the Stencilgirl®Talk website.

Just a reminder that these cards will become part of my #365somethings2018 project on Instagram where I post a daily card each day this year. We are over the half way point with the cards (and the year!) and I still have lots more ideas!

You will have seen some of these cards before as they were part of the set of 9 that I made as my May Project for Stencilgirl® Products in my capacity as monthly Guest Designer. You can therefore find a step-by-step tutorial for these on the Stencilgirl®Talk webpage. I am feeding all these cards gradually into my stream of numbered cards for each day of 2018.

In fact I tend to make them in sets as far as the backgrounds are concerned and then add details as and when I have time, trying to keep ahead of the day I need to upload them. It's fun!.

Apologies for the fact that the card bottom row right is on it's side. I only noticed it just now and wasn't inclined to re-photograph the set again because the sun is shining and the garden beckons!

The above card (no. 111) has attracted quite a bit of attention on Instagram due to the use of the word Cholera. I found it in an 18th Century Apothecary's Notebook that I picked up very cheaply during a book sale. It was already falling apart so I didn't feel bad about using it for collage. I love the hand writing! The book is also a reminder that cholera was (and in some places still is) a very serious disease and many remedies were tried over the centuries to find a cure.

I have to say those nine days seem to fly past. Every time nine cards are ready to be shared here it takes me by surprise. And we have passed the 100 mark too. I need to grab 2018 by the neck before it too vanishes without trace!

Making Art Cards

Since I started making my 3 x 3" art cards for the #365somethings2018 project on Instagram I have had quite a few questions about how I made them. The answer varies as I'm using the cards as an opportunity to experiment with different materials and methods.

For this month's project as Guest Designer for Stencilgirl® I am showing you one of my methods and I am aiming to show you another one next month. You can find the link to my full step-by-step tutorial as well as the stencils I used here. It is amazing what can be achieved with just a few stencils. 

These cards will be fed into my Instagram feed gradually so you will be able to see them there individually with a number for the day I post them, but here is an overview of the nine I feature on my tutorial. While working on them I also made more cards with the left over paints and the paint left on the stencils. It's amazing how quickly my collection of cards is growing. 

More next month when I'm back again as Guest Designer for Stencilgirl® . You will notice that different methods and stencils can produce completely different cards!
