hidden treasures

I worked on the first day of Chinese New Year this year, but this lunar new year hasn't been too bad I guess. :) It's been very different compared to last year, (cos I was in the land of the rising sun last year, sigh) but twas good spending time the family, and a little bit of the extended family. Part of me misses the massive celebrations as a kid though.

Ah well, at least I got to lou sang this year. :D Happy Chinese New Year, have a nice and prosperous year! Look beyond the obvious and you'll find things you never knew existed (like the tomatoes :).

Land of the Nasi Lemak

It's that time again where I take my annual trip back to my homeland, something that I've been doing since the I step foot in this part of the world in February 2002. This time however, will probably the shortest one ever - 1 week (compared to 2 months a couple of years ago). And this time it will be different cos it will be a one way ticket back to Sydney when I return.

My trip back to KL is also usually time when I reflect on the past year and how it's been. Part of 2008 was a blur, university didn't feel quite the same, I had a hard time finding a job, I graduated, I got to know new people, I jumped into the big bad world of full time work one week after my final exams, I managed to send 2 different cars into the smash repairs within 2 weeks, had my first angry customer who yelled at me and threatened not to come back ever, learned about friendship and boundaries, learned about God's perfect timing. The end of 2008 came and went so quickly I haven't quite had the time to absorb everything that has happened or is happening. And before I knew it, Christmas and New Year has flown by just like that.

I woke up on New Years Day at 7.30am, much thanks to my body clock, and I pondered for about half an hour about 2009 before dozing off to sleep again. I think it's going to be the most challenging year to date but as I've told some people - it's going to be hard, but at the end it's going to be good. I was reading the Financial Review today (cos there was an article on Pharmacy there :p) and as the heading reads - it's gotta get better!

Happy New Year everyone! :)

Smelling the flowers

The past couple of weeks have been hectic. Haven't quite had the time to sit around, rest, and think. On the way to work I could suddenly comprehend the meaning of S.H.E's album '不想长大'. This study-work transition hasn't been as smooth as I imagined, with so many things popping up and distracting me from what I wanna be. Actually, since I've started working, I would admit thoughts have crossed my mind to abandon what I'm doing now and escape! Lol. I guess this is the part where I have to remind myself that this is where I've been wanting to be since the day in Form 2 (Year 8) when I told my English teacher I wanted to be a Pharmacist when asked what my ambition was. I still remember people in class looking at me rather oddly. Hehe.

In dark times such as these, I take comfort only in the fact that I'm not going through this alone. :) And that this 'training' is part of something much greater! I'll be working six days this week. It's time to strengthen my feeble arms and weak knees!!

I need to stop talking and thinking about work

Apple Cake

I think it's time to bake. And take photos!
But mmmmm what should I bake?

(yes yoi, lemon meringue (cupcakes?) is already on the list.)

Farewell University

After four years of hard work.. sleepless nights, painful group work, crazy exams...

I HAVE A BACHELOR OF PHARMACY BABY!

Although I have to say, its been a wonderful experience. :) But then again, things generally look better in hindsight anyway. :p

hello

Yenz is a twenty-two year old trying to make a difference in this world by giving people drugs (aka medicines) and making sure they are used to their best potential! And there is of course the occasional baking and photo-snapping, along with some oh-so-randomness. :)
