Jimmy Owens (wikilink) is an American jazz trumpeter. Here is his 1976 self-titled album. It's funky, reminiscent of Miles Davis' fusion work, and Marvin Gaye's melodic sensibilities. Features a version of "Caravan". Released on the A&M's interesting Horizon Records, which released a lot of great jazz records in the late 1970s.
