Friday 18th August: Lazy Oaf X Dr Martens

The perfect pairing has come together in the form of a Lazy Oaf and Dr. Martens collaborating on a pair of shoes, boots and a bag.  The iconic subculture footwear brand has partnered with cult cute-girl chic label Lazy Oaf on these Gothic-Lolita heart-shape styles.  I can see these selling out very quick!!!
The launch took place in the new flagship store within the Stables Market in Camden which doubles up as a gig space for special events.  The 60 person capacity space hosted a venue as part of the Camden Crawl festival and puts on concerts for the public every month.  To qualify for a ticket you just have to sign up here.  I'm so glad Ive discovered this as its right on my doorstep round the corner from Dingwalls and the Roundhouse!
The shop walls are decorated with vitrine's of paraphernalia from the brand's history showing the complete story from SKA to Kate Moss's jacket from Vogue.  Here you can see Horace Panter (The Specials) artwork installation which includes this amazing Keith Haring patch!!!  There's so much to see and interact with to learn about the lineage of how each decade's youth movements have embraced the boot.
It was the 90's grunge sirens of Kim Gordon and Courtney Love that influenced Gemma Schiel's designs for the Lazy Oaf collection.  Just like me she grew up as a teenager in the era and now the style has come back around its right on time!!!   You can see the capsule range in Camden or in Lazy Oaf's own HQ in Covent Garden.

Tuesday 21st June: Hello Kitty X Lazy Oaf

Hello Kitty X Lazy Oaf has launched with what seems like the most perfect collaboration to date with her trademark bow being a signature style for Lazy Oaf too!  It comes in the form of a tie-back baseball cap and the centre seam for a sweater.  My favourite piece is the mini-skirt with high-rise waist from her ears neatly laying on your ribs.  So cute.  So Kawaii.  So Lazy Oaf.

Tuesday 6th June (06!): After 6pm

Q:  What would you recommend doing at around 6pm in London?

A:  Find a Happy Hour in a nice bar to sit down with a copy of Time Out to scan the event listings.  It's an excellent immediate resource of reliable recommendations to make a good start!  Look for a gallery or museum late-night opening / store opening / restaurant launch / gig / clubnight.  It's possible on any night of the week to find somewhere to go for free culture, drinks and even food if you're lucky enough.  You just have to do a little research!

Q:  What did you get up to before the shoot?

A:  I ran the Hackney Half Marathon and then went to the pub for a roast dinner to watch the Tottenham Vs. Arsenal London Derby football match - a classic contradictory London Sunday!

Q:   What are your plans for the evening? And with whom are you planning to spend time with?

A:  Its the end of the bank holiday so I have to stay in and do last minute homework!   But a typical example of a night out was last Thursday when Eglo Records did an instore gig at Carhartt, then onto a launch for Converse / NIKE Flyknit with a performance by Yungen before finishing off at a film screening and club night curated by NTS Radio for KENZO.  3 separate venues, 3 separate neighbourhoods, 6 brands, 1 night!

Tuesday 8th November: Lazy Oaf 15th Anniversary Lazy Land Exhibition

Lazy Oaf celebrated their 15th Anniversary with their own theme park style exhibition at Protein Studios with a bespoke inflatable face over the massive warehouse shutter entrance.  It all began when illustrator Gemma Shiel started making silly t-shirts to sell online whilst studying, and has now found herself with an international superbrand.  From early on she established the fun, non-conformist label with a shop in Carnaby Street and has never looked back.  The birthday selection re-visited some classic designs with a new tshirt under the name "Lazy Land" launching with this pop-up show.  Gemma's drawings were made life-size in sculptures and props around the gallery to display the garms and accessories including this hat which will relate to all fellow followers of the Lazy Oaf lifestyle.......

Wednesday 11th May: Lazy Swim Club

To coincide with the celebrations of Carnaby Street last week, Lazy Oaf launched their Swimwear line at the flagship store on Ganton Street.  It's their first dip into beach-wear but hotly anticipated since the body-suits from the Garfield collaboration last year.  Trademark Lazy Oaf details are across the styles with illustrated hands and faces as motifs and trimmings.  Tops and bottoms are sold separately so you can buy a watermelon crop top to match your existing archive water-melon skirts.  There's even a watermelon print bucket-hat to keep shady for your bucket and spade, sand-castle beach excavations.   My favourite piece from the collection is the cloud sky pattern towel which is going to be my Summer staple to take-over as the seasonal exchange from the previous cloud puffa jacket of the Winter blues........
