January

Is January over yet? I really don't get the point of January. It is a really lame month, if you ask me. Okay, so there is Civil Rights day, but that could come any time of the year, really. I think that January should be deleted from the calendar. Couldn't we just start with February? At least February has all the love--that's a good way to start a year, with love.....right? That or something needs to be added to January to make it worthwhile. All it has is crappy weather, post holiday blues, spring fever, crappy weather (did I mention that already?) and that's it! What can we throw in to spice things up? I am glad this month is almost over. Let's move along, here people!

Since I am posting, here is an update on the kiddos:

DB: up for best big brother of the year---we went to Funzone (building full of bounce houses and inflatable slides) and he was awesome at keeping an eye out for JT who insisted on following DB around. Plenty of other "big" kids were there who just ran over the little ones and really just ran around like wild banshees. DB was obedient to the rules and kind to the little ones. He rocks.

JT: proficient at all the doorknobs in the house, and madly in love with "Incredib" and "Cars" the movies. He also loves Buzz, but not the movie. He loves to jump, especially to music and currently his favorite songs are "Popcorn Popping" and "I Gotta Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas. We are trying to make sure he is well rounded, after all! Can't have ALL church music ALL the time!

Super Girl: is just that. She is doing the baby crunches to get ready for sitting up, She is figuring out how to laugh, but it still comes out like a little cough. She HATES to be in a room alone, and is madly in love with her brothers.

Civil Rights Day

What a wonderful day! It was warm today so I loaded up the kiddos and we searched for something new. My New Year's resolution is to become a Tennessee tourist this year. It turns out that TN has a lot of cool stuff to see! Today we went to the Casey Jones Train Depot/Museum. The people there were so friendly! There was a whole room/store dedicated to Thomas the Tank Engine, so the boys were definitely in love. DB got to ring the bell on a real train engine, and JT loved climbing all over um, everything! We also went to the General Store that had an ice cream parlor, a candy shop, and lots of fun stuff to see (as long as JT was in the stroller!)

Then we had a picnic at one of our favorite places, Cypress Grove where there is a boardwalk through the "jungle" as DB calls it. We kept our eyes out for crocs, but they were hiding too well today. The best part is that the boys came home TIRED, so I take that as a sign that they had a lot of fun. Princess S needed a serious wardrobe change when we got home, so I was able to snap some cute pics of her....I promise she was wearing clothes when we were out and about!

I was super glad that DB was out of school today because of the nice weather. It really would have been a bummer if he had to be in school the whole day of the one nice day this week!

So we got that museum checked off our list....I found a list of 48 things to do in 48 hours in the Jackson area, so we highlighted the ones that are sensible for our family, and we are going to work on that list and work our way outward. I am hoping to make it to some of the big cities around TN also, like Atlanta and St. Louis this year. We will just keep on truckin'!

In like a lamb.....

If 2009 left us like a lion, 2010 is coming in like a lamb for our family. Well, perhaps Ben would disagree. He has been super busy with work, so that is why I feel like our family is in "lamb" mode. We haven't had much happening with us mostly because I still refuse to take all three children with me by myself unless absolutely necessary. And I am not exaggerating....our fridge currently contains all of the usual condiments in the door and not much else. Let's see: 4 tortillas, 2 gallons of milk, some cocktail weiners that I forgot to make for Christmas, a can of crescent rolls (which will be used for dinner tonight, eggs, a red onion, lettuce and a cucumber that isn't looking so hot right now. I have had to get quite creative with dinners lately, let's just say that. Do you think I am going grocery shopping today? Nope. Ben is in Atlanta and won't be home until late on Friday, so I am thinking I will MAYBE go shopping on Saturday. Check that, we have the missionaries for dinner on Saturday, and a family coming over on Sunday to share dinner, so I am definitely going shopping on Saturday. Don't get me wrong though. We have a freezer full of the regular stuff, like all the meats and frozen veggies, but there is something about having an empty fridge that just makes me feel, well, lazy!

I wonder if I am getting a bit lazy. I imagine I would survive a grocery trip with all 3 kiddos.....I took them all to church by myself and lived to tell the tale (barely). Truly my biggest excuse has been that I don't want to take Sarah out in the cold too much, but that is easily remedied and I DO have a blanket or two for her. Yep. Lazy.

I have gotten a couple of cute pics of the kiddos, though. Let's see, DB lost his first TOP tooth on New Year's Day (that is how we celebrate the new year....ripping parts of our kids bodies off.....we are out of the running for parents of the year already?) JT is just as cute and busy as ever, and I just had to take him oustide and run around the other day. It had been the whole "bull in the china shop" kind of day. In his pic he looks like some wierd advertisement for Redbox. And our little princess, in her cute little dress......what can I say.
