Igorot Dance

Igorot Dance such as Takik, Eagle Dance, and the Pattong.

The fact remains that the Igorot is not Filipino and we are not related, and it hurts our feelings to see him pictured in American newspapers under such captions as ‘Typical Filipino Tribesman.’ ~ Carlos P. Romulo, (1943) Mother America. Garden City, New York: Doubleday, Doran & Co. p. 59.

It's disheartening that Carlos P. Romulo said those phrases.

Bayanihan ng Pinoy

Bayanihan is part of the Filipino culture. This is a Filipino word derived from "bayan," which refers to nation or country, town, municipality or community. The term bayanihan mainly refers to the spirit of communal unity or effort to achieve a particular objective.

This has been done many times since even before the colonization of the spanish government. I think this should be preserved as I am haven't seen bayanihan nowadays.

Firework

Every New Year, Filipino will prepare their best fireworks. Firework has been long culture that came from Chinese. It is said to be that loud noise will drive away bad spirits.

Bagong Taon and Fireworks

Bagong Taon! This is how New Year's eve is celebrated in the Philippines. Lots of fireworks and much noise. The night of the New Year's eve celebration here in my country, the Philippines, is really unique than most countries. Filipinos/Pinoys makes a bang outside. Days before the big day, you will see lots of vendors selling firecrakers and noise makers. This is tradition that is why even though there is a  yearly ban on firecrackers due to a number of accidents caused by pyrotechnic devices that have resulted in the loss of limbs, limbs and properties, still a lot of Pinoys perceived that  firecrackers will throw away bad spirits.

Rosquillos Festival

It all started when this girl was making of these little ringlet cookies date back to April 3, 1907, when the then 21 year old Margarita “Titay” Frasco was tinkering in her kitchen with her baking ingredients and made her new culinary creation.

Kneading the dough manually and using a wooden eggbeater, some baking tins and a clay oven, little did the 21 year old know that she was starting a product that would put her little town in the national and international map of gastronomic delight.

The market for her unnamed cookie started with her neighbors and passersby who were offered the snack as a freebie for every purchase of a bottle of soda. It was then Cebu Governor Sergio Osmeña, who later became Philippine president, who gave it the name rosquillos after the Spanish word rosca. As years passed, people going to northern Cebu have made it a habit to drop by the store to buy the rosquillos. It is also a known fact that those who couldn’t visit Cebu would ask friends who are in Cebu to buy some for them.

Rosquillos have become a household name, a product that is aptly celebrated in a festival that Liloan could call its very own.
