The amount of fun we have should be illegal...

Seriously.

I came back earlier this week from my favorite place ever. I'm not talking about Akron/Canton, OH, which is lovely in and of itself. No, I'm talking about the convention that's held there every year. Ellora's Cave Publishing's Annual RomantiCon took place this past weekend at the McKinley Grand Hotel in Canton, and all I can do is shout out a big HELL and YES.

You guys have heard me talk about this convention before, but honestly, I can't begin to tell you how much I love going to it. And my love of all things RomantiCon is not based on the fact there's hot as hell Cavemen walking around... Well, okay, it's not solely based on that ;). It's based on the fact that the best people on earth attend this convention -- lovers of erotic romance.

I've made some lifelong friends at this convention, which just celebrated its fifth year. I could go on and on with a list of names, but I don't want to leave anyone out accidentally. Those of you whom I love, you guys know it -- simply because I told you often enough over the weekend.

So, with that being said, let's get to the fun part, the part y'all really want to see and read about: the pictures! Here we go!

With My Tye's cover model, David, at the Meet & Greet.

With choreographer/2012 Alpha Caveman
and EC author/Caveman Taylor Cole

Mari Freeman photo-bombing! Seriously though,
this man is one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet.
Laurann Dohner, Cait Miller, Mari Freeman, me, and Tara Nina.
Four of the loveliest reasons to attend RomantiCon!
With my bestest girlfriends, Mari Freeman and Samantha Kane.
Love you, ladies!

Publisher's Weekly's very own Joyce Ann McLaughlin looking incredibly gorgeous!

Cavemen aplenty, looking spiffy in their coats and top hats!

With my travel partner and great new friend -- and RomantiCon VIRGIN no-more -- Author LB Grant!

Snapping one up with EC owner/author Jaid Black and Mari Freeman.

More of my favorite people! Mari Freeman, the darling Avery, me,
and Regina Carlysle.

With the 2013 Alpha Caveman winner, De Angelo!

Mari Freeman and De Angelo, after his win!

I'm not sure I could love this picture any more than I already do. Probably my favorite one from the entire weekend!
Mari Freeman, Caveman and host Rodney, Samantha Kane and me.
Hollywood night! With Samantha Kane and Taylor Cole.

Guess who won a Kindle Fire HD at the PJ Bingo party?? And guess who delivered said Kindle in an oh-so-sexy way? Yeah, that would be me and David ;)

So, can you tell from the pictures why this is one of my favorite weekends of the entire year? I'm already counting down to next year. All of you guys should come along with me. You know you want to ;)!

Hope y'all have a killer weekend!!

Oh, the weather outside is frightful...

Um. No. It's not. And I have to say that I'm a little bummed about that.

I'm a Chicagoan. Granted, I'm a transplanted one, but I'm a still Chicagoan nonetheless. All of us who live here may not like every aspect of our glorious winters, but at the same time we trudge through (sometimes literally) and deal with them. And there are certain things we expect. Snow, especially around Christmastime, is one of those things.

Earlier this fall, there were all sorts of reports saying how "This will be the snowiest Chicago winter evahhhh..." (Okay, so maybe I'm exaggerating a little on those headlines :)). My point is this: It's now December 23rd and what do I see when I look out the window? Grass. Green grass, to be precise.

Not a hint of the white stuff anywhere.

I've woken up twice in the past month to a dusting of snow on the ground. That's it. Oh, and it all melted right away, too. I've yet to actually SEE it snow.

One of my favorite things to do when it's snowing is to light a fire in the fireplace, sit on my couch in front of the window with my laptop in my lap, and write my little heart out. I've lit the fires. I've sat on my couch with  my laptop. But without the snow falling, it's just not the same.

Now, don't get me wrong -- I'm not a fan of the aftereffects of getting hit with 2 feet of snow all at once (although being snowbound isn't always so horrible :)), and I may be in the minority when it comes to actually wanting snow. But, come on. It's Christmastime. Isn't snow at Christmas a must?

Darn. This year, I suppose not.

Sigh. Oh, well. I'll get over it :)

I wish everyone a Happy Holiday season -- with or without the snow!!

Friday Guest: Mari Freeman

I'd like to welcome my good friend and fellow author Mari Freeman to Fierce Romance today!

I have two things to help boost my Christmas spirit right now.

First, Hot Hard & Howling comes out in print Monday, the 13th. Merry Christmas to those of you who wait for the solid form of books. It’s always exciting to my hands on a print release.  Also makes a great gift, people.

Second, Hot, Hard& Hexing is out right now in ebook! Wooo Hooo..

The story is a stand alone, but it continues the saga of the Half-Demon Ambercroft sisters. Their human side makes their Demon magic somewhat uncontrollable, so it tends to get them in a bit of trouble.

Sonja’s Demon power is psychic abilities. But in this story, she’s up against a Dreamstalker who has taken to influencing her dreams and her psychic visions in a very sexy way, distracting her and helping her make poor decisions.

Enter Ray Burgess, who quickly becomes the star of those very sexy visions. It gets hot in New Orleans as they try to rescue Sonja’s cousin from the Dreamstalker.

Lots of steamy New Orleans fun to warm up the chilly winter nights and to help relieve the stress of the season. You know…the shopping, the decorations, the bills, the rushing from one house to another….

Here’s another way to relieve stress of the stress of the season. I’m trying this recipe tonight.

Christmas Cookie Recipe (follow directions closely)
1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
2 tsp lemon juice
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups of dried fruit
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequilla

Sample the Cuervo to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again, to be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Turn on the electric mixer... Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar... Beat again. At this point it's best to make sure the Cuervo is still OK, try another cup ... just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit, Pick the frigging fruit off floor... Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the Cuervo to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt, or something.

Who giveshz a sheet.

Check the Jose Cuervo -- Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find.

Greash the oven.

Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window,

finish the Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the dishwasher..

Great Review for Leap of Faith!

The first review for Leap of Faith is in! Yay! It's always a little nerve-wracking to see the link for a review for something you've written pop up in your inbox. Will they love it? Will they hate it? Aggghhh, the suspense! I'm happy to report, however, that this was a GREAT review. Let me share it with you :)

Blurb:

When her grandmother bequeaths her a black pearl choker, Mia’s intrigued. Even more mysterious is the note accompanying the gift, telling Mia her heart will know when she should wear the necklace. And it does. As she dresses to attend a company party, Mia somehow knows it’s time to don the choker.

When Mia meets Logan at the party, their mutual lust is instantaneous. Only after the man gives her an unexpected, mind-blowing orgasm under the full moon does Mia learn Logan is vying for the same promotion she’s worked so hard to win. Despite that, their smoldering attraction remains, urging them to indulge in further pleasures of the flesh. Then they discover the small charm hanging from the choker’s clasp—a charm engraved with a love spell.

Are their sizzling desires nothing more than a magical push from her grandmother? Mia will have to take a leap of faith to discover if Logan is The One.

Reviewed by Donna at You Gotta Read Reviews

Do you believe in magic?  Love at first sight?  Is there even a difference between the two?  Mia has just met the man of her dreams, literally, and experiences an inexplicable mutual attraction that draws them together almost against their will.  Neither Logan nor Mia have ever felt anything so powerful as the pull that makes them completely unable to resist each other.  Ms. Daniels has woven a story with enough scorchingly hot sex to label it an erotica, enough romance to label it a love story and just enough magic to make me want to read more!  I didn't want to put this book down.  The only thing that could have made it any better would have been to make it a little longer, but for a novella, this was an excellent read.

Yay, right? Yes, very yay! The review made my day. Big, huge thanks to Donna for her kind words. And now, along with all the other crazies out there, I can go get some Black Friday shopping done -- I need to start chiseling away at all those Christmas lists.

Have a great weekend!

Are you NaNoing?

I suppose what I should ask is "Are you participating in National Novel Writing Month?" I am! Well, kinda, but I'll explain that in a minute. For those of you who don't know, National Novel Writing Month -- or NaNoWriMo -- is where you commit to writing a novel during the month of November. Yep, a 50,000 word novel. In layman's terms, that's a minimum of 1,667 words every day for 30 days. Sound difficult?

For some, maybe not. For me? Hell, yes. I've said before that I'm not the fastest writer around. If I can get 1,000 words down in one day, then I'm doing really good. And you may say that an additional 667 words doesn't sound like a lot, but trust me, it is. Especially when I'm an edit-as-I-go-er.

So, I decided to change things up. You guessed it -- I'm a NaNoRebel. Not only am I not starting a brand new novel for this experiment, but I'm also not really committed to the whole 50K thing. I know, I know. Why bother, then, right? Well, I'm bothering because I could use a good old fashioned kick in the pants. At the same time, though, I have to be realistic. I know what I can accomplish. I know what I want to accomplish -- which is to finish my current work-in-progress before the end of the year.

That being said, I've committed to writing at least 20K, with 30K being the max. And I also know that it's unrealistic for me to sit down and write 7 days a week. It's just not doable. So, I've committed to 5 days a week. Let me do the math for you -- that's 30,000 words in 22 days. 1364 words per day. Still a little high for me, but hey, it's worth a shot.

And how have I done so far, you ask? Well... Sigh. At any normal time, I'd say I've had a good week (so far). But for NaNo? I have to admit that I'm already a bit behind. Real life, and all that. I've logged in three word counts -- 11/1, 1120 words. 11/2, 1113 words. And 11/3, 500. Hey, I had to leave the house for a meeting, and then we went out to dinner, and then.... Well, you get the picture.

I have a feeling this is going to be a month filled with long, late nights. Not only does November have a huge holiday in it, but hubby's taking a bunch of vacation days, too. We're going to be doing some much-needed renovation around the house (new flooring, yay!), and all that starts today. But I'll trudge along, writing when I can to get those words in. Will I make it? Who knows. Will I enjoy trying? I think so. I'm having fun so far, and I love the direction my book is going, so win, win. Right?

For now, though, I'm off to get some words in for the day. Then, after that? It's hammer time (we're ripping up old tile!).

Have a great -- and productive -- weekend!

PS, if anyone wants to buddy up with me for NaNo, I'm Kristin_Daniels over there!

It's here! Leap of Faith!

There are very few days I love more than release day! I get to shout out "It's here! It's here!" So, here I go...

It's HERE!

Leap of Faith is now available from Ellora's Cave. Click here to check it out!

Oh, and I now have cover art (when I announced this last week, I didn't have a cover). Isn't it GORGEOUS?

That's Caveman Alex on the bed there, looking all bedroom-eyed and perfect for this book. Sigh.

Once again, here's the blurb:

When her grandmother bequeaths her a black pearl choker, Mia’s intrigued. Even more mysterious is the note accompanying the gift, telling Mia her heart will know when it’s time to wear the necklace. And it does. As she dresses to attend a company party, Mia is drawn to the choker, somehow knowing it’s time to wear it.

At the party, Mia meets Logan, and their attraction is instant. Only after they go for a walk—and after an unexpected, mind-blowing encounter under the full moon—does Mia learn who he is—the man vying for the same promotion she’s worked so hard to win. Mia flees, with Logan hot on her trail. Once more they give in to their smoldering attraction, afterward discovering the small charm hanging from the choker’s clasp—a charm engraved with a love spell.

Could their sizzling desires be nothing more than a magical push from her grandmother? Or does her heart truly recognize Logan as The One? To find out, Mia will have to take…a Leap of Faith.

And to check out a quick excerpt, click here

Enjoy!

Have a great weekend!

Take a Leap of Faith!

I'm very excited to tell you all about my soon-to-be-released new book! Leap of Faith will be available through Ellora's Cave Publishing next Friday, October 28th! What's so amazing is that I just finished edits for this book yesterday. I emailed them back to my wonderful editor, and wha la, a couple hours later I have a release date. I'd love to show you a cover, but it's just so brand-spanking (hint, hint) new that I don't have one for it yet! In the meantime, here's the blurb for it and a short excerpt. Enjoy!

Excerpt:

A moment of silence hung between them, but the feeling wasn’t uncomfortable. He felt like he didn’t need to rush anything with her. So why the hell he blurted out his next words without a second of forethought, he didn’t have the slightest clue.

“I want to kiss you.”

He’d caught her just as off guard with that statement as he’d caught himself. She lifted an eyebrow and held her breath. “What?”

“I know, I know. It’s crazy, right? But ever since you dropped your plate at my feet, I’ve been dying… Your lips… All I can think about is kissing you. It’s as if I’m being…”

“Drawn—” she said.

“Drawn—” he said at the exact same moment. He inched closer, feeling that pull, that crazy tug all at once and everywhere in his body—his head, his heart and places further south. “Yes. It’s…”

“Strong,” she finished.

He nodded. “Strong. Definitely.” No doubt in his mind. He’d never experienced a pull so powerful. His lips itched to take hers. His hands shook so badly with a need to caress her skin, he thought he’d choke. He hardened just from another quick glance at her lips. “Maybe we should—”

“Test it and see…” she offered.

“Yeah, a test.”

He leaned in closer, tentatively, gauging her even though she was the one to suggest they try it out. When she held her ground and didn’t budge, he pressed his lips against hers. They came together softly at first. Then a hunger, an inexplicable craving, overtook him. He couldn’t stop himself from sliding in further on the bench until their bodies collided. Nor could he hold back from wrapping his arms around her.

She grabbed on to him at the same instant. Their mouths opened and their breaths mingled. Tongues slid easily against one another. The kiss was overrunning with passion, full of questions without a single answer in sight.

He cupped her nape, holding her close as he tasted her over and over. And she was right there with him, giving as good as she got, delving deeper and driving him crazier.

God, he could stay like this forever. She kissed him like she was born to, and he couldn’t get enough.

Have a great weekend!
