Egg Dyeing Again

We dyed eggs earlier this month while the girls were on Spring Break, but they wanted to do it again after they discovered another box of leftover dye in the craft closet.
It never fails, the day after I post for Wardrobe Wednesday, Binny does something notable like walking around all day (at school, the library and now home) with her dress unbuttoned.  Last week Binny's teacher had to remind her that tights are just glorified underwear and no one needs to see them.  She's not convinced, obviously.

Monday Garden Club

It was finally a beautiful weekend here! There were even big puffy clouds floating around in the sky. A downright rarity around here with the crazy winds we get. Needless to say, we tried to spend as much time outside as possible and of course my camera was in my hand as often as I could set down the shovel and garden claw. It's also dandelion season...
Just don't mistake us as Packer fans.
All of the plants are still hanging out in the greenhouse. Too early to plant most things outside yet. As of last Thursday morning (before this warm weather arrived) we were still getting a frost every night outside. As much as I would like to get started planting in the garden, and there are a few seeds that can be started this early (carrots, peas); I don't like to rush it.
Everything is now out of the basement and wedged in to the greenhouse. It's a tight fit, but it's all in there.
I stopped at one of my favorite greenhouses the other day just to check out their selection and I couldn't believe how many people were there buying all of their annual flowers and tomato plants. They will no doubt be back next week when the stuff they bought gets left outside on a cold night and shrivels up. I couldn't help myself and bought a parsley plant and a pot full of tiny leek plants, 2 things I didn't start myself. When I brought them home, I popped them in the greenhouse...
Oh and some asshole bird shit all over one side of my greenhouse and the entire front end of my car. The Gardener says I should get out the BB gun and start taking them out...

The peach tree we moved a few weeks ago is doing very well and is budding like crazy. We'll remove most of the blossoms this year to give the tree a chance to properly root itself before being forced to produce lots of fruit.
I went through my raspberry patch over the weekend and pulled all of the weeds and thinned out the plants. I dug up about 30 little raspberry plants (mix of red and gold) and offered them to everyone I came across over the weekend. I even ditched one at a friend's house when she wasn't home. I still have a few left if anyone wants one. Come and get 'em!
My next project will be weeding the asparagus. The grass and dandelions are definitely crowding them so I need to get on this soon. The rhubarb is now growing tall and full, if anyone wants any please come and get some. We have lots!

Now for all you gardeners out there who wish to participate, either leave a comment on what's growing in your yard, or post a Monday Garden Club update on your blog. Don't forget to drop your link in the comments and I'll add it to this post.

Wardrobe Wednesday

So it must have been 2 weeks ago or so since I declared my love for Adobe Lightroom right here on this little blog of mine on the last day of my 30 day free trial. Well the last day of my free trial came and went and the program still worked! I figured I must have slipped through the cracks and they forgot all about my free trial or caught wind of our current financial situation (Unemployment and all) and took pity on me and figured that if I can't spend money on much anything besides toilet paper, toothpaste and a Costco sized box of Oatmeal, they would let me keep using Lightroom indefinitely, you know just cuz. I even took great measures to protect my precious Lightroom by ordering my husband not to close the program no matter what happens! Figuring that when I try to open it, I would get the message box that tells me the trial period is over!

I'm not sure if Adobe works like our mortgage company like when they say the payment is due on the 1st and you really have until the 15th to pay it without any penalties or nasty letters or what but yesterday afternoon as I was happily using Lightroom as if it was here to stay, all of a sudden it locked up and said it had to close. Oh shit!

As I crossed my fingers and clicked on the LR button on my desktop, I realized it was over. LOCKED OUT! That means I 'm back to editing my photos in Elements RAW which after Lightroom seems like such a primitive way of editing photos.

Anyhow, this isn't lets complain about how broke we are Wednesday or Adobe ruined my week Wednesday. No, this is Wardrobe Wednesday! The first short sleeve T-shirt and sundress Wardrobe Wednesday of the year! How about that?

Random Tuesday Thoughts

randomtuesday

Wow, has it really been 2 months since I last participated in Random Tuesday Thoughts? Well, according to my archive it is! Goodness, where do I start?

It's rainy and cool here today. Not a good day to get any outdoor gardening done but maybe a good opportunity to continue some Spring cleaning inside the house. Last weekend we rearranged (and cleaned!) the whole upstairs to find a home for a sofa that some friends were getting rid of during their recent move. (The sofa happens to be an exact match to our living room furniture and with kids and dogs in the house I thought a couple of extra cushions would come in handy.) We managed to get the giant sofa up the stairs and around the turn of death and finally situated it up in the sitting room after relocating some other furniture including moving most of the houseplants into Mae's room in front of her south facing window. Hopefully she will remind me to water them...

Binny brought home a bunch of Easter projects from school (public school) yesterday including this Easter egg craft. She beamed as she told me about the Ts in the middle. Ts huh? I asked her why Ts and she said that the teacher's helper laid down the glue in the shape of a T and she glittered it. Ts huh? For Easter??? It's not the crosses that bother me, it's the lack of respect for any religion other than Christianity, or no religion at all (from our experiences with this school district, at least) and the thought that all kids must know that Easter equals Jesus died on a cross for us.

Baseball officially started yesterday! I listened to the Brewer's lose their first regular season game of the year. Go brewers!

I talked with my grandparents last night. Grandpa was in the hospital again last week but is home now and regaining his strength once again after a nasty bout of bronchitis. They called to tell me they are sending me a 'VCR' (I swear that's what they call a VHS tape. Don't even try to convince them otherwise.) from their Anniversary party last month. There is even footage of me waltzing with a sweaty old man they all call Shorty. Now I need to dig out that old VCR that we no longer use to watch the tape...

I started a new blog! I know crazy right since I barely have time for this one. The new blog is all photos and very few (if any) words. I figured that if I am going to seriously pursue photography in an effort to make a little money, I should really have a website with sample photos that has nothing to do with this little rantbox. Check out the new blog here. I still have some tweaking to do, but it's up and running!

That's it for me today. Be sure to stop by Keely's blog for the whole Random Tuesday line up.
